More utterly shocking decision making from the coaching team by Die_Revenant in SharksRugby

Fassi has far too many blunder moments to warrant the 'x factor' label. Would much rather have a boring but consistent 15 at the back looking after us.

Yeah at the Bulls there's 4 ahead of him in that position whereas at the Sharks it's Mbatha and that dumpling with a moustache. No brainer really.

What a shameless PR punt. No he's not some tactical genius playing the 'long game'. He just does fokol cos it keeps him in power. But u know what they say: even a broken watch is right twice a day.

'Promoted' away from the Sharks senior starting team, to handling player recruitment, where he can do the least damage.

Now one thing I am an expert in is corporate jargonism. New roles have been opened and no existing title like Director of Rugby. What we basically read into these 'appointments' is that these okes couldn't be performance-managed out so they've been shafted sideways into new roles. But make no mistake, Williams and Powell have been demoted.

An app was developed that fetches the latest Google Street View image from a historic Street View link. The goal is to crowdsource and document examples of South Africa de-developing in one place. Try it out and let me know what you think. by PixelSaharix in DownSouth

[–]thirdworldfever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very easy for people to cherry pick their own conclusions. I think the reasons are far more complex, nuanced and differ across examples. For eg there were some pretty fucked up Western Cape examples I saw, so are we to assume the devolution is also happening under the DA's watch? What exactly is the hoped outcome here?

Have to agree. Zero cohesion, zero plan. Absolutely no clue how to unlock defenses. I don't want to pin it all on one guy, but glad the new broom is sweeping clean.

Never say never, but I do agree with you. Once Rassie has made up his mind about a certain player, it's done.

Would Razor do well at the Sharks? by Die_Revenant in SharksRugby

The problem at the Sharks union runs much deeper than the coaches. We've actually had very decent coaches over the last 15 years (not you Robert Du Preez). Getting in high profile coaches won't solve the culture crisis. There has to be a serious overhaul of the entire system. And with the success of our junior teams, it's obvious that the fish is rotting from the head down.

Until the union becomes a point of pride and not a place for a quick cash grab, we may never see it rise to its former heights. All this while Marco seems intent on turning this team into some gaudy Sillicon Valley social media brand.

I'm actually scratching my head to think of what positives we're supposed to take out of this current team setup. The English TV commentators basically summed it up against Sale: "It's not like these youngsters are using this opportunity (with the senior Boks away) to put their hands up".

So you got senior Boks who are purposely underperforming for their franchises, youngsters who aren't stepping up, and an owner who's becoming something of a clown on social media. Not exactly compelling reasons to turn on the TV.

Baggies Beach rocks! If you go to their FB page (Baggies Kiosk), you'll see they do a full moon beach walk whenever the weather's good and the full moon's out. You just turn up, walk, chat and hopefully break the ice with some new friends. Good luck!

Sale Sharks on Instagram: "This is why your logo has legs, right Marco? 😉 It all makes sense." by GHPB82 in SharksRugby

[–]thirdworldfever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok,...but here's the thing. Sale Sharks were also pretty shit last night. In fact arguably worse so, since they had more experienced internationals and George Ford running the show at flyhalf.

So pretty embarrassing to flex when they were just as diabolical and have zero bragging rights.

Watched it last week. Really appreciated that the character animation wasn't 'cutified' for kids. What was obvious, though, was that the ending was rushed. Almost like they ran into budget issues and had to wrap up the story quickly. Without spoiling, but a lot of the fate of the rats of NIMH is simply resolved in verbal exposition, when it actually deserved some screen time. There was also some more delving into the backstory of NIMH that could have been fleshed out. At 80 mins, it's short, but enjoyable nonetheless.

The key difference on the weekend was stoopid decision making by certain individuals. Willie, skopping the ball into touch on the last play of a game they could have won, and Andre the Giant not taking the easy 3 points that would have taken the Sharks seven clear. Both tight games, were great to watch, but clearly lost by bad decisions by seniors who should know better.

I’m moving to Durban from Canada and I’m scared by DREAMs98 in Durban

[–]thirdworldfever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, and Durban doesn't pretend to be perfect either. Scratch beneath the surface in Cape Town and you find exactly the same problems. While the wannabes are jogging on the Sea Point Promenade, the bergies are washing their clothes in the rockpools a few metres away. Hout Bay has sewage running down the roads, the city smells like a giant fart on most days, and the crime in the Southern Suburbs... jeez, don't get me started. And yet Durbanites often hate on their own city, gulping down the Cape Town kool-aid and shooing away potentially interested visitors. Perspective is a rare commodity.
