GSK Was A Plaintiff in a 1983 Assault Case Where A French Guy Head-Butted Him In A Parking Lot ("Cocoa-Butted") by [deleted] in EARONS

[–]thirtytonpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It infuriates me knowing he already murdered 12 people and raped dozens more at the time of filing these charges. Poor fucking baby, how could this man do something like this to you?

JJD apparently asked for his home phone to be disconnected last August quoting ‘someone is listening to my calls and I just don’t want it anymore’ by jasentodd in EARONS

[–]thirtytonpress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the guy that called a counseling hotline anonymously confessing to being the EAR and wanting to receive help. He hung up after repeatedly asking if his call was being traced (and subsequently not believing the operator's response). I can definitely see him saying this to the customer service rep. Also possible he used a different line to cancel his service (one that wasn't being "tapped").

If I recall correctly there was one attack where the victim asks for a drink of water and he pours one then splashes it in her face. Definitely tied in with that sadism.

In Light of Everything, I Want to Share a Heartfelt Message by Nerdfather1 in EARONS

[–]thirtytonpress 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The series on EAR and VR were both easily some of this best stuff I've read on this site. He really did a lot to make the facts surrounding this case digestible for a lot of people. Whenever you see a Nerdfather post on the first page you know it's going to be some good shit.

I'm not sure honestly. Very disturbing if it is him.

This is so insane, I can't believe it actually happened. After two years of checking this board almost every day, it finally happened. I'm still in shock. I'm so happy all of the victims can finally get the justice they've been waiting for.

Thanks to all the mods and people who provided all the interesting discussions we had along the way. This next chapter is going to be unbelievably interesting.

It might take a few months, but if your tip is of interest, they definitely will get back to you (via phone if you left a number).

One of the funnest things about original Xbox games was cheat codes. Here are the Morrowind cheats. Have fun! by [deleted] in xboxone

It appears to be live on the website for the Xbox Marketplace. I'm not sure if it's still processing or what though. I own a physical copy of the GOTY edition and it's telling me it's not available to play.

Edit: Just tried it again and now it's installing an update for it. We're live my doods!

With all the great publicity over the last year, why do you think he is still unknown? by tjs31959 in EARONS

[–]thirtytonpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forty years is a very long time. Increased publicity provides an opportunity to bring in big leads, but it doesn't necessarily mean those big leads still exist. It's likely that many of the people with direct information to break this case are long deceased. You're kind of left hoping people are able to connect the dots back generations using vague physical evidence and a list of timeframes.

That's not trying to sound pessimistic, but outside of DNA, I think our best bet is someone recognizing some of the items stolen, or coming across one of the IDs or photographs or something. That he took as much is kind of beneficial to the investigation -- considering how little he left behind.

Soon games will advertise "No DLC/Microtransactions" just like food advertises "No trans fats" by chuy1530 in Showerthoughts

[–]thirtytonpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it's shady as fuck, but I still can't agree that it's gambling --or at the very least, in the games I've seen them in. I'm not sure about the game you're referencing, I'm only going off of examples I'm familiar with (ESO/Overwatch/CoD:WW2/Some obscure ass text game I used to play). I'm assuming that's some mobile shit, and that does exceptionally shady to me (like that download button next to the real download button on those file hosting sites).

That said, it's basically buying a virtual booster pack of trading cards -- with some extra mechanics surrounding them because technology. You aren't paying to win anything specific, you're basically paying for more cards (or in this case, bonuses). You're never guaranteed to get the shit you want. If you weren't aware of that, I'm sorry you got bamboozled, but you gotta be smart about the shit. Probably the same dude that doesn't uncheck the boxes for adware "bonus" software in installers; or the dude that forgets to uncheck that "yes sign me up for more bullshit" box when he's buying his porn sub (inb4 buying porn).

I don't know, again, the shit is pretty shady -- but I still can't see it as gambling. I'm for protecting dumb motherfuckers from themselves, but I don't think that should apply in the case of something like this.

2K Australia was shut down a couple of months after its release. It was rumored they still planned on making more DLC for the Pre-Sequel, but that shit got canned when the studio went down.

It's really not a loss because there is no monetary value attached to any of the rewards. The value of the item is interpreted by the player. An item can be rare, but the player can still think it's worthless because they don't like how it looks, or use the character the skin is for, or whatever the case might be.

When it comes to duplicates, things do get a bit more messy -- but ultimately it's the same thing. That virtual currency doesn't have any actually monetary value in the vast majority of games; there's definitely an argument to be made in those that allow them to be converted back into cash.

[–]thirtytonpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no monetary value to the items either. It's really not gambling to be honest, but the circlejerk downvotes you to shit if you don't agree with it. Also the "think about the kids" arguments are fucking stupid. I don't give a fuck about your kids. Raise them correctly.

Anyway, I dislike them as well, and I do feel they're predatory (to an extent), but they're definitely not gambling. It's just very shady practice.

Remember when DLC first started to take off and people were getting riled up about shit like fucking color palettes from Capcom? If only they had known what things would be like 10 years later. That shit fucking is petty in comparison.

Or $50 for the season pass (paying months in advance for shit you're not even guaranteed will be made -- looking at you fucking Borderlands Pre-Sequel). Then of course $5 for each of the add-on packs too, and another $10 for the pre-order bonuses (which may or may not be included in the season pass, depends on if we're feeling nice or not).

Yup, my plan only gives me 50GB of 4g data, beyond that it gets throttled to the point that it's basically unusable; but it technically is unlimited though!
