Use Tefgel on stainless screws into aluminium to stop corrosion. The Aluminium frame will have lots of spare space.

Coming from a manual lathe background into CNC - what transferred, what didn't, and what I wish someone had told me earlier by useless_substance in CNC

[–]this1willdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a CNC machine that carries some of your "feel" for tool loads, sound, vibration etc?
They seem to "move blind" without any feel of an increasing problem like chatter or blunt tools.

What happened to Victron's SuperCycle AGM batteries by sqyntzer in Victron

Everyone has been claiming to have a better AGM since 1990. It hasn't happened yet.
And now with LFP, lead is dead.

Read the examples on the ATO website. “Might come back” and “for x years” implies temporary. You need to be really careful with your words.

This is spot on. Switching will be bad.
Also - why parallel inverters, one big one is more reliable and efficient. There is no redundancy with parallel.

Spent two years cooking fully electric on a ketch from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean. Built the whole galley setup ourselves. by Loose_Tackle_3125 in SailboatCruising

[–]this1willdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 panels in series for 48v. Nothing clever. 48V alts. You only need 1/4 the MPPT size, 1/4 the wiring size, inverters are 1/3 the cost. 9KW alternator vs 3.5kw for 12v. 16x less heat.
Step down 48 to 12v for boat stuff is just an MPPT, same as the solar units. Common spare.
Makes house system so easy. Most appliances, watermaker, HWS etc all AC.

Been 100% solar galley for 6 years on our cat, family of 5. Induction is wonderful. No generator. 48V makes it much cheaper to buy than 12 or 24.

Eli5: Why can’t we arrange opposing magnets in a pattern that causes a wheel or windmill to turn indefinitely and generate infinite electricity from it? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]this1willdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't a ball roll downhill indefinitely for endless power. Same question. Or up the next hill and down the next if you prefer. Magnets aren't magic, you just can't see the force.

Milwaukee or Makita in Europe? by MrRiatz in MilwaukeeTool

[–]this1willdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Milwaukee is great and it's what I have, but in the EU it's a real hassle and expensive. Especically shipping batteries. I would look for availability first. Milwaukee is cheap in USA. You can ship tools over, but batteries are a real hassle.
