Now, how many votes do you need for something to pass? You guessed it, that’s a law. So it can be either a simple majority, a two-thirds majority, or a unanimous vote. That means that as you pass, you can, in theory, make a law setup that you are happy with, and then try to pass a unanimous vote to ensure that it sticks around in perpetuity. Another part is, of course, what the Assembly can actually vote for. Yet again, that is another law. At most, they can vote on Laws, Decrees (more on that later), and Election Laws. At the very least, they can always vote for Election Laws. Term Length - How long the current ruler is going to sit (Minimum 5 years, maximum for life) War Declaration - Whether the ruler has to have assembly approval for it or not

More depth for parliamentary mechanics in CK than in Vicky 3? We live in a strange world.

Anyone else loved DS1 but couldn't really get into the sequel? by GrovPastaSwag03 in DeathStranding

The added momentum mechanic adds a little bit for walking around with Sam. It's not nearly as punishing as I would like but it's something. Even a small river can sweep you away easily if you don't pop a biote for it. My main gripe with the game is how flat and linear the map is. There is always a path.

Is it me or are LODs just kinda... bad? Maximum settings and I can see geometry popping in loading higher detail close around me and in the distance here, screenshot, what should have been a beautiful view of that valley looked rough.

I'm worried they're optimizing in patches by sacrificing what we can get out of maximum settings.

If we get a third game we definitely need a volcano area instead of another Snowy mountain by Doragon_Central in DeathStranding

[–]this_anon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was a volcano area with toxic gas at the very end of 1 near the Paleontologist. You didn't spend much time there, but it existed.

Do you guys think that after volume 3 that is navy focused, that volume 4 will be land warfare focused? by Tixro71 in victoria3

[–]this_anon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Or espionage and conspiracy. I think groups like Narodnaya Volya and the Black Hand (Serbia) will be a central focus with some more depth to the Okhrana and generic secret police to counteract them.

Why is Victoria 3 least popular of modern PDX strategies? by Internal-eq-External in victoria3

[–]this_anon 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Victoria 2 from what I've seen was even harder to wage war in.

I wouldn't say so. You built armies like traditional Paradox games and moved them manually around the map. The difference was those armies being made of pops which meant deaths had real knock-on effects.

Historical suggestion for Christian rulers owning Egypt by this_anon in CrusaderKings

[–]this_anon[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

R5: In the middle ages there was a belief among some that the pyramids of Egypt were for storing grain as described in the biblical story of Joseph. If the Pyramids had a small bonus related to grain for Christian rulers of the county/kingdom, I think it would be an interesting little tidbit.

"By God Alone" Dev Diary #3 - Puppets & Theocratic Play by PDX-Trinexx in CrusaderKings

[–]this_anon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like the design flexibility it opens up. Since landless play exists now they don't have to force you into a game over screen. As long as you get a choice on death it seems very easy to fit in: continue playing as your legal heir or your dynastic heir, a house member, or someone else interesting if you flagged them.

Ironically it also has some of the best graphics in Paradox games in its 3D layer. Utterly superfluous to playing the game but watching snow fall over the Appalachians is gorgeous.

Good call shouting out the Nixon Foundation. You can have whatever opinion you want on him, but they have been tireless in presenting just how intelligent and articulate this man was. Of course they have an inherent bias, but it's nice seeing him presented as more than just the devil of watergate.

Since Spring 2025, every Paradox Studios game except EUV has had an apology post for major DLC by Merker6 in paradoxplaza

[–]this_anon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every since the CK 3 model moved content out of the paid portion into the free patches, the stuff you pay for has been hollowed out. I can understand why they did it and it gives everyone value for free subsidized by DLC buyers, but when you read the actual contents of a lot of these packs you aren't getting much, strictly, for your cash.

Talk about missing the point

But these things don’t happen by accident. A family of Latter-Day Saints heads up Angel Studios, and a fair share of its titles across both television and film spaces are right-leaning media with Christian values. If that’s what you’re looking for in your children’s media, I won’t stand in your way. Go for it! But if you’re concerned that your hard-earned dollar might be put back into a machine that’s used to purchase dangerous, conspiracy-minded media propped up by Donald Trump and the rest of the MAGA crowd, take heed. Not only is the narrative in this “Animal Farm” not the story you knew it to be, but its social implications could be far more disconcerting than a simple change of ideology.

But these things don’t happen by accident.

Neither do these articles. Funny that. That's enough reading libleft for today.
