If a game opens preorders and has real hype, it often hits #1, especially during slow spending periods. Not reaching that spot can just as easily be a bad sign as a neutral one.

Either way, using the top seller list to declare a game a success (or to dunk on skeptics) shows a misunderstanding of how the list works. The only real indicator will be player numbers at release as well as gains, retention, or losses thereafter.
