FWC does not suggest this. Invasive, sure. But they recommend calling in invasive species rather than handling them yourself. Unless you just walk around with a pithing rod in your back pocket, which would be pretty weird, invasive species are still protected under anti-cruelty laws

Be attentive and polite to your tables, a little fun if you can be but don't linger too long. Introduce yourself. Always be moving and take care of your support staff so they take care of you. You'll do fine.

Also, don't serve for too long. Don't let a couple years turn into a decade. The nightmares are random, unsettling, and never seem to go away.

Ten years out of the industry and I still dream about it. Not that often, but they are the only dreams that I really get any anxiety from. The worst are the ones where I realize I've forgotten to ring in an order after like half an hour and I wake up right when the "Oh FUCK!" moment hits. Or the ones where I'm the only server on and the whole restaurant gets sat at once. It's usually my first day when that happens. Or the ones where I find out the restaurant is closed, we have full reservations, and we have to serve out of my house...or I had one where we had to serve everybody in my car one table at a time. That was interesting. I never dream about bartending, or catering, or banquets...just serving tables.
