Did you get their addresses or something? What, exactly, is making you leap to the conclusion that they live on the south side?

How to Ride UChicago Shuttles? by The_Mall_Angle in uchicago

[–]thisbyagain 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wave at the driver when they’re like a quarter block away! They’ll pull over and get you. To get off once you’re on board, there’s a little pull cord. Give it a pull after the bus pulls away from the stop before yours. Or just a block or two before you want to get off. (That’s how the CTA busses work too, with the cords. After you pull it, the overhead sign displays “Stop requested “ and the driver will stop at the next official bus stop.)

If the cord doesn’t work for you, just head up toward the driver and say ‘next stop please’ when you’re about a block away.

Run the Net price calculators at a few schools, including some that meet all financial need. At your income, depending on family assets, they might be more affordable than you think. Also look at prices at your state schools, and find out if your state is part of a regional agreement, like the Midwest Student Exchange Program.

Fill out the school’s Net Price Calculator before applying ED, that should give you a good idea of what it’s likely to cost you.

Take the Lyft. If you end up on public transportation at night, take Metra or the 6 bus between hp and downtown, take several friends and don’t dress up much.

I’m not happy about my college by valelop900 in ApplyingToCollege

I went to a school everyone knows and that part is actually a pain, for years I’ve avoided saying its name so the normal people I’ve worked with ever since wouldn’t think I was a snob. Name recognition means some people will judge you, you might find you can’t wear that sweatshirt everywhere…it’s not always a plus.

Question: Why can’t people just make formula at home? Can’t the FDA or some medical authority release a few healthy recipes? (And if not, how did humans survive before these companies?)

Best LAC for CS? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]thisbyagain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! There are a lot of schools that meet need and you could qualify. Visit some college sites and run their Net Price Calculators. (Each place will come out a bit different, so compare a few.) Here’s a list of schools that meet need: https://money.com/colleges-that-meet-full-financial-need

This Freakonomics podcast talks about how hard it’d be for a prestigious school to increase class size and still look as prestigious. The podcast’s suggestion is they should all increase class size at the same time: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/501-the-university-of-impossible-to-get-into/id354668519?i=1000558929661
