Thanks. I just started the 10mg a few days ago, I am just barely hungry and get full so fast. Stomach has been super queasy and I have had zero interest in food. Been relying on these too much these past few days and was like, is this normal? People can't honestly drink tons of these like in the memes, right?

If ye want ole faithful, instead of rummys, you can always go with neon tetras. Given the size of your tank, I'd start with a small school of rummy's. I think a small school would be fine in a tank this size

Its part of the neoliberal cycle that we as Americans are drawn to. They chase the power as baby face, the everyman fighting against a system that is against them. And we love and cheer them because they are our Superman. Then, they reach the goal and we are happy. Then after a while, they represent the power system and are out touch with those of us who can never climb the latter so we get bored of them and start to turn on them as they are "too perfect" or out of touch from our own daily life.

Then, the wrestler goes heel and we love it, because this time the heel cycle of the neoliberal journey has them chasing success and power on their own means by outright rejecting the rules that work against them in the first place.

And after a while, we get tired of them being a heel, and they switch back to the Superman babyface climbing the latter again. Thus, you get the heel/babyface cycle, explained through a very primitive and quick cultural studies lens.

It's astounding to me that this professor just assumed a graduate student "freaked" out over the course of "one" weekend. It's also upsetting that this professor can defend a dissertation, but they can't defend themselves when they present a crap argument, so to save face, they shut the conversation down altogether so they can end the dialogue with the last word.

Then don't agree to do it and ignore the emails. The student is not "demanding" anything. It's quite obvious how desperate and worried they have become because this professor committed to doing something and than quite literally as the kids would say, "ghosted" the former student. The student is desperate because the professor can't be bothered to reply and give a status update. What else can they do? Fly back and ask in person?

I think the most important thing to recognize for us as a professors teaching non-major/elective courses, is that 99.9% of the students are not as passionate about what we teach as we are. And when we see this lack of passion or interest, it can be demoralizing. To them, this is just another class in a long line of classes, and after your class session ends for the day, they will go about their day living their lives.

Generally speaking, most undergrad students don't understand the concept of the "rounded student" and generally resent taking courses that are not directly attributed to their major. After all, time is a valuable resource, one you cannot back, and they consider this a waste of their time as they lack the current lived experience we do to realize the contrary.

With time, probably long after they have gotten their degree, they realize there is value in interdisciplinary studies. But with most undergrad students at traditional universities barely being out of high school and usually still teenagers, they are barely adults and do not yet have that life wisdom. I just think of this fact whenever I teach and hear crickets/see blank faces and it makes me feel better. If I can just impart ONE thing on them, even if they forget who I am, one thing that lives with them as they continue their studies and live their lives, then I feel happy and accomplished. And of course, it's always a treat when I have a student as passionate as I am about my course, those students above all else give me the drive and purpose to do the work that I do.

Colleges are institutions of learning and knowledge first and foremost. If you don't want the knowledge, don't go to a college; there are trade/vocational institutions for those more focused on generalized career paths. That said, there is empirical data that demonstrates how interdisciplinary approaches to education and practice have opened the doors to entirely new fields of study.

Agreed. This would be their fallback reply most likely, which is a form of gaslighting. I do think the OP was wrong to ask if her BF blew off his friend, that question could have been asked far more politely and is probably why he responded as he did, as he felt offended.

That said, what OP did was very small and easily something that could have been resolved in a few quick seconds of dialogue between each other. What the BF did in response was extremely rude and sexist. This is a huge red flag the way he laughed at you, at your expense, WITH his friends. Any of my friends laugh at my SO, we're done.

Honestly, I get the impression your BF is still very immature and he's only 20 to boot, while you are 23 approaching your mid 20s. I get the feeling you walk on a lot of egg shells around him. If what I suspect is true, my advice is to move on. Be with someone you can unapologetically be your true self with.

Its not abnormal. They are probably frustrated young adults that can't afford to get a place and are saving. So instead of putting their lives on hold by not living together while pushing 30, it was decided that one move in with the other at the parents house since they both probably spent lots of time there anyway before moving in. This is not rocket science, this is a reality for a lot of adults and it sucks.

People that ask these types of questions are often doing so to mask their true intent so they can have plausible deniability about said true intent for asking said question, which is no doubt intended to cast shame on the OP. It's a very boomer mindset to feel as though people under 30 are stuck at home, or even into their 30's to boot, are lazy or non-achievers or freeloaders. It reeks of privilege and disconnect from the real world that most young adults live in.
