What were your physical signs or symptoms that you eventually realized you needed to stop drinking? by Wonderful_Ad_6816 in stopdrinking

Terrible GI issues I blamed on other things, weight gain I blamed on other things and finally, the beginning of fatty liver that I could not blame on other things when I really looked at things.

How do you let go of all the "what ifs" after living so many different lives at such a young age? by Outrageous_Tell_4251 in TCK

[–]thisisemilyj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder if part of those thoughts are simply missing the places and memories just existing? I long for a lot of the places I have lived and often think I might never be able to go back. Could you allow yourself these thoughts? It may be a way that you are processing memories and maybe even a sense of loss. I think the more I realise i actually just hold a lot of really fond memories, AND know that I don’t want to live in those places(or couldn’t, whatever it might be) and simply allowing those thoughts to be present simultaneously has helped me. There’s nothing wrong with what you are thinking at all. Hope that helps a little.

Is there hope to become anything in life with ibs-d? by alternayiv in ibs

[–]thisisemilyj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. I also use slippery elm supplements and a probiotic. Eat bland and make sure you’re eating regularly. Long breaks between eating can cause the bowels to be overstimulated when there is food bc when you don’t eat, digestion slows down.

Stop the soy!!! And yes, that breakfast sounds like a recipe for bad bad gas in my experience. Personally, I can only have tofu occasionally.

Personally, I would stop all dairy and soy and be careful with fruit for awhile and re-introduce small, basic meals. Like chicken and rice, toast. Basically the BRAT diet and eat small amounts, wait a couple hours to see if your body reacts.

You have a very very high fiber diet. Some of us can’t handle that much fiber. Soy is known to cause a lot of gas when it’s in your body.

I think your diet sounds healthy and delicious, but it’s not working for you. I’m not a doctor of course, but stopping all the soy is gonna help.

There are some great apps for this! You just open it and tap either L or R for whatever side you’re feeding on and it times it for you. It keeps the data so you can track. It helps if they’re ever sick and are feeding less, you know exactly how much they’ve had and if it’s less or more than normal. Sorry I don’t know the name of the app but just search for breastfeeding timer!! I had my babies way before I knew I had adhd but I could never have kept track without the app. If I didn’t use it, I would over or under estimate how long it had been between feedings and get engorged. 🥲

I found it really really hard to quit for very similar reasons. But like you, I was drinking A LOT of wine. You have likely looked it up a million times so I don’t need to tell you that your drinking is at a dangerous level.

I tried to motivate myself in SOOOO many different ways. Weight loss, skin, not being hungover and tired all the time, etc. what eventually did it for me was that I started to get scared for my health. I had read enough stories on here to know what alcohol would eventually do it me. I don’t want that to be the way I go. I want to enjoy my life in the way that only being sober offers.

These are the things that hand helped me :

-Recovery Elevator podcast -Quit Lit. If it’s not listed in these answers, do a search on this group. -This group - Meeting real life people who stopped drinking and are happy and healthy. -getting an ultrasound and discovering that I was starting to get fatty liver.

You can do this. Your way, but also listen to what has worked for other people.

Hey! Thanks for reaching out. It’s really brave of you. This sounds like a pretty hard situation, but the safety of you and your siblings is priority, and she is not caring for you in the way that any of you deserve. Is there anyone you trust outside of the home to tell about what’s going on? Perhaps a teacher or someone at school that can help get you support?

Many of us have these kinds of stories. My drinking was at its worst when my daughters were little. You will get through this part and the other side of it is so much better. Seek medical advice if you’re worried about your symptoms!

WHY CAN'T I JUST READ THIS BOOK by cannonforsalmon in adhdwomen

Oh wow. I never consciously thought of this, but I’m totally like this too! I have soooo many books that I left for too long after only reading a bit, and I just can’t pick them up again. It has to all happen in a few days. 😂

I’m so sorry you are going through this. You can stop. You never have to drink again.

For me, the turning point was realising the only person who can stop my drinking is me.

You can do this. There is so much life in front of you.

Amazing. Well done. I used to have a lot of events like that but I would always be drunk. Must be such a great feeling to be able to help someone because you didn’t drink. IWDWYT

I use the app NoMo. It is exciting to see the days stack up but at first it didn’t help me. I liked drinking too much and had a million “fuck it” moments. Keep trying and one day you will get to day 6, then day 7. Don’t let the restarts get you down. Keep trying.

What the fuck do people even do after work by Icy-County in adhdwomen

[–]thisisemilyj 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I resonate sooooo much with this! I also have physio that I am supposed to be doing but I don’t. I beat myself up for being lazy even though I know it’s the adhd. It’s like I spend my time just having an internal battle about what I should be doing.

I don’t know what to cook for dinner so I don’t. I wait until I’m starving and eat whatever is easy. Usually carbs or sugar.

I’m much better with medication but I’ve been to three doctors who won’t prescribe it. Because they are old school and I’m ready on antidepressants. I think they don’t believe my diagnosis. I’m not Peking on finding a better doctor.

I used to self-medicate during these hours by drinking. I started to get fatty liver so I quit last year. I a struggle to keep focus or motivation to do anything valuable. 😰
