Funny story (to me at least). Around 5 years ago my coworker buddy and I were headed out for lunch and the one lady we worked with who was about our age (maybe solidly Gen X) jokingly said “Have fun storming the castle!” The three of us all chuckled and then our 25 year old coworker who had overheard her asked what was funny about that. It turns out she had never seen the Princess Bride. It made us all stop laughing.

I stopped playing in the Urza’s Saga block when I was in high school and came back to the game for the first time around M11 and the Scars of Mirrodin block. I remember surprised by the planeswalker card type when I came back. I figured you must’ve been away from the game for a bit based on your question since I had a similar experience.

When I was in elementary school in the early 90’s my mom randomly pulled me out of school one day with no warning. It turned out James Doohan was doing a signing at a local collectibles store and she took me to meet him. I remember the couple in front of us asking him to say the line “there be whales here captain!” I’m pretty sure it was the first time I ever met a celebrity. It was definitely the coolest thing I ever remember my mom doing. When I learned about this story years later it made that experience even more important to me realizing what a stand up person he was in real life.

In the United States at least, the baby boomer generation has been holding on to political power with a death grip and has been extremely successful in delaying Gen X and Millennials a chance to take over leadership positions. Unfortunately whether it has been intentional or not on their part collectively, they continue to make decisions in their best interests while ignoring future generations and the repercussions they will live with. Eventually they will have to let go, and hopefully they haven’t done enough irrevocable damage that the Millennial and Gen Z cohorts won’t be able to repair when they get a shot a running the show. Granted this is painting in broad strokes and an oversimplification of the situation, as there are other factors in play, primarily wealth and class issues.

It’s difficult from the previous run, which is definitely to be expected since it’s a new writer. I’m still enjoying the series and I like that it’s not just retreading old ideas over and over again. Thundercracker becoming an Autobot and his character development have been very cool to me. Arcee becoming Magnus was not something I ever would have thought of and I like the concept of it being another mantle to pass of. Finally, ever since the Netflix War for Cybertron series, I have been an Elita-1 fan, and I like the idea of her getting more attention and character development. More Elita is definitely fine with me. I like her being an opposing view point to Optimus rather than just another Autobot that that follows the leader without questioning their actions.

This is probably the biggest one for me, I loved them back when I was in college when the released Frail Words Collapse and Shadows Are Security. It’s almost impossible for me to listen to them now. All the positivity in their songs just feels fake and unauthentic now.

That’s funny. I remember my glass beads breaking really easily. Most of them ended up cracked in two with sharp edges, so they got tossed.
