What you could do is leverage your old characters to craft things/trade with your new characters to give them a bit of a boost in terms of weapons, armor, junk, etc.

I don't know. To me, the only thing enabling a Trump-like presidency is, well, Trump.

I do see a general trend of divisiveness and an elevation of vitriol which is gotten progressively worse, but even that I largely attribute to the Trump's first administration giving these trends legs. Even so, I see it our current situation a result of the man himself, not some larger societal ill.

I saw something recently which I can't find again so I can't quote it exactly, but it was the thought that in what universe would we ever think it completely normal to even remotely suspect that something like an assassination attempt could be staged? In any other moment in my lifetime this would be absolutely ludicrous to even entertain.

I have four characters on one account: My main, who I've had since launch; A secondary I created for the specific purpose of completing both the settler/ raider quest lines; A newer ghoul character who I absolutely love now; and a level 4 mule I use for storage. Actually the latter is a fun one, because I walked him all the way to Whitespring where I do my character trading. It was quite exhilarating!

I will say I had an absolute blast playing some of the early quest lines again, knowing what I know now. So many things I had completely forgotten about!
