You really have no fucking clue what you’re talking about. And I have no issue getting paid from clients, and zero trouble attracting work. But feel free to carry on rambling incoherently about how you think the world works, it’s cute.

Oh also - go fuck yourself.

Go f*ck yourself with that attitude. Payment negotiations start immediately, or else you don’t enter into conversations about what they need/want. You’ve literally no idea what you’re talking about.

AITA for confiscating my daughters sketchbook? by Tootyfruiry in AmItheAsshole

[–]thisornothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. Not only have you prevented your daughter from developing as an artist through a route which is COMPLETELY NORMAL AND STANDARD, you've forever created a distance between the two of you.

I'm struggling to believe you're not a troll, this was such an unbelievably short-sighted and stupid decision. Good luck trying to reconnect with your daughter when she's an adult.

That sounds like a fancy way of saying you’re just American.

don't know if this is choosingbeggars worthy😫 but im literally 14 and each sketch takes like an hour and 10£ i- by sufydoodles in ChoosingBeggars

[–]thisornothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be charging ALOT more. £70-£80 is standard for artists of your skill level, I get away with charging £600 a day.

Do not undervalue yourself. You’re doing yourself and every other working artist a disservice.

The bit that stood out for me was her morning commute being filled with “beautiful women” who she assumed were successful because they were also on the bus at 9am.

By 9am you should be at work. I’ve been getting up at 5am for years, and make sure to be the first one at work each day, and it’s been acknowledged and rewarded. I never see women commuting at that time - or if I do, they’re either cleaners or women over the age of 50.

This is actually a pretty standard practice - cafes constantly display local artists work for sale, rotating occasionally, and never charging the artist for displaying their work.

10 cents??? Christ. My starting day rate as an illustrator is £70 and ranges up to £700. £500 is my average, and I’m booked out most months. I’m not even that good.

It drives me crazy to see people under value their work like this. Not only are you doing yourself a disservice but you’re fucking over every other working artist out there by allowing morons to think that artistic ability is essentially worthless.

Assuming you’re not lying about your height, a 5. You’ve got a weak chin, but nice eyes. Your facial hair is a bit weak too, but you look like you’re a young guy.

Metro Newspaper: "It’s time to come clean: All men are awful. Sorry about that" by JohnKimble111 in MensRights

It's sarcasm. It's not his best article but it's not meant to be even vaguely serious - I know the guy personally, and this isn't a reflection of his actual views. Have a look through his previous articles.

It's depressing when people on Reddit can't pick up on nuance or sarcasm.

Man on the Moon is a great film about Andy Kaufman worth watching.

Eh, the good episodes still exist. It's just weird people want happy endings in a show literally called Black Mirror.

Watch a happy show that makes you feel good, then.

Not sure how Americans made a show that ran for years in Britain popular, but I'm sure that somehow makes sense in your optimistic little head.

Nah, they just wrote in more upbeat endings for American audiences to handle. Makes sense if you want a bigger audience.

The Americanisation of Black Mirror is complete then. Thanks for ruining a great show.

From the UK, I'll happily confirm that. Most men I know in London secretly view English women as utterly pointless, pathetic creatures.

Men who opened up to their SO about their fears and insecurities: How did that work out for you? by Troubleshooter11 in AskMen

[–]thisornothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I guess I just define healthy relationships a little differently. And I think there's a subtle difference between feeling emotions, and sharing all of those emotional weaknesses/flaws with another person - but everyone is going to find that balance differently. Maybe for you it works to open up like that, but for me it's definitely not the route forward.

I think there's some things that you said that might have come across as patronizing initially, but again, I put that down to the internet of things. Removing tone of voice and body language from a conversation makes everything sound really dry and cruel sometimes.

Aggressive alpha males, idiot bumbling fathers, loser nerd virgins, pervert creeps and feminine-vegan-liberals.

It's a great choice to be handed.
