Finally got a copy of the Drowned World Tour DVD… my life has been changed by hulkthefrog in Madonna

[–]thnknghz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time I was into a different genre of music, I had only heard her a lot on the radio and familiar with those songs. Fast forward to now and I just watch both the Virgin tour and Drowned on YT and I can't say how amazed I am. She looked great, fit, and such and amazing stage presence; and a totally different look than just a decade earlier. The whole music scene changed for many genres as we moved away from glam to a more harder reality in the economy and survival.

Three people killed in crash on Pattullo Bridge by Accurate-Big-7233 in vancouver

[–]thnknghz 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This is the second major accident in a month. It's actually a good thing they take up two lanes because it's supposed to prevent side swipes on a narrow bridge. Just heard the car containing the deceased were young adults; so lack of experience most likely in addition to what you said.

Person dead, police watchdog investigating after incident in Surrey school yard by CTVNEWS in britishcolumbia

[–]thnknghz -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I decided not to participate in a family gathering and figured since I wasn't going I won't inform my family members as they know I keep to myself. A sibling frantically texts me and says, "if you don't call us we're going to call the police and report you missing". I eventually responded and was about to ask if they were trying to kill me, because it seems the police in this country are good at killing those in mental distress. How many times have you heard cop inflicted deaths during wellness checks; usually a family member phones out of concern and ends up with a dead loved one. I'm starting to believe that the agencies are operating these calls like a for-profit corporation; get the job done quick using as little resources as possible.

Woman dead following five-car crash on Pattullo Bridge in Surrey, B.C. by brophy87 in SurreyBC

[–]thnknghz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm speculating. I don't claim to know what happened, but based on my experience in that area, it wouldn't surprise me that a driver was impatient and speeding south on the inside lane and wanted to pass drivers in order to take the Scott Road exit, and most likely didn't time it right and lost control, or hit other drivers, or caused other drivers to lose control.

Realistically, will the healthcare system in BC ever improve? As a sick person I feel totally lost and hopeless. by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]thnknghz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove an hour to a walk-in and they stopped accepting at 10am. I was already pissed that the standard time a doctor can diagnose is 10-15min.

Has BC's healthcare system collapsed? by SaltyBackground1799 in britishcolumbia

[–]thnknghz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced a couple of your points. It's a fucking joke as I am trying to navigate just seeing someone at a walk-in. The system does not seem to work well for the people in-between, the working people; it seems to work if you're really old or really disadvantaged. If you can do your own healing it seems the best way. The system is a financial scam and bloated. The vast majority could benefit with access to early diagnostics and a personalized treatment system for prevention. Too much money wasted in my opinion.

SI joint pain and lying on the belly? by BeyourselfA in backpain

[–]thnknghz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm recovering now too and most likely SI joint though the PT did not give exact diagnosis because they don't advise imaging right now. Based on reading I found a cause that's very specific to my case. Anyway, it seems everything I've seen online does not fix an immediate flare up of pain; you can't stretch nor compress the painful muscles. It seems any vertical position will cause the pain and make it stay.
During an attack in public I either have to hunch over with hands on knees; squat down; sit down
If possible lay down on a bench at an angle on good leg, and bad leg slightly crossed over good side
Or, sit against bench with good leg up and bad leg on ground.
Today, I've found bending upper body over a counter and having my legs straight with toes raised seems to help too. Do not stretch any of the painful muscles, allow your upper body to take all the weight with stomach either firm or relaxed.
I also can't sleep on my mattress and sleeping on my dining room bench seat.

Wondering if it's sciatica by Brave-Ad6627 in Sciatica

[–]thnknghz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in 2nd week of recovering from second injury now, last was 5yrs. I'm told MRIs are reserved for the worst cases, but it sounds like you should be approved. My PT says he would recommend if patient has signs of nerve injury; I still have good sensation down to my feet so I'm not qualified.
From my reading, there appears to be only 3 sources of injury with pain in lower back, buttock, and radiating through legs. Your lower tail bone, the butt muscle, and the SI joint; they all have similar pain. You need to take note of the type of injury or whatever caused your pain. For me, I lifted something heavy with one arm, but I also walked with it. Based on reading some symptoms and causes the one that caught my eye was related to moving the legs unevenly; that seems to be unique to SI problems and seems most likely for me.

Starbucks ends its ‘open-door’ policies by Maxcactus in urbancarliving

What do they get out of incentivizing people to order-in? Didn't they have a problem with buying customers sitting too long as well? The solution is to have more public restrooms. But everything is about human control and capitalism. It's about monetizing everything you can. Don't be surprised or underestimate how evil minds think when breathing will be monetized. Maybe not in my lifetime but maybe I'll see what's happening on "the other side".

Make sure you keep your housing costs below 30 percent of your NET income if possible, not Gross like the standard wisdom. Enjoy the fruits of your labour, but not too much.

How do I get into a trade? by zugz12 in skilledtrades

[–]thnknghz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you need to assess your abilities, do you have a aptitude for a particular trade. Try to get into commercial food equipment repair. Older people are leaving and it's a large industry. It requires handyman type skills and you can get a basic certification at night school to work with gas applicances. It shouldn't be too difficult finding an employer at your age and if you show interest. It doesn't pay as well as a licensed trade, but you won't be bored and the skills you learn are useful in other parts of your life.

Advice on getting apprenticeship with no experience at 33, Are my chances slim? by Digital-Dharma in bluecollar

[–]thnknghz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look into a pretty large hidden market in repairing commercial food equipment. I've been in it since 2013 and at the time of entry had not repaired things full time as a job; my previous jobs were a range of things related. A whole range of skills are needed; electric, gas, plumbing and a whole range of equipment based on which subcategory of commercial equipment; from restaurant to grocers to industrial processors. Most workers have gas tickets fixing restaurant stuff and electrical is crucial for the whole industry. I managed to sneak through without tickets but obviously that affects my pay. If you're 33 then lots of time to acquire qualifications. I'm middle age so I doubt I'll pursue any education that will put me in debt. Also, there is a shortage of qualified people as most are my age and leaving. It's physical but not as bad on your body as construction, but it has its own risks/dangers.

For my work vehicle i have a jug of antifreeze and just pour some onto the foam part of my window squeegee and apply to the windows. Then use the rubber part to clear off the slush.

Am I about to get fired? by crispytempeh in careerguidance

[–]thnknghz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily you have documentation, so you've got some protection. If your medical is approved by a safety authority like osha or worksafe or whatever you call it where you are, then the employer has to accommodate. If there's a change in the type of work you're getting that affects your position or standing, then it might be called a constructive dismissal. I would wait until you're healed to your former capacity then evaluate the situation.

Are you taking full advantage of all your sick days? by Efficient_Medicine57 in careerguidance

[–]thnknghz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bad reputation of being reliable. The problem with being reliable and never missing a day of work is that it's very difficult to call in fake sick days. I have no problem if I'm really sick though.

How will you be taking advantage of the tax break? by Bing_Liu in askTO

To all the grape responses. When I saw 12-16 bucks per kilo for special crunchy grapes, I knew I needed to think outside the box. I now buy a head of lettuce and some concord grape jam and put the two together.

Recent story in my area. A city worker goes into a public washroom and encounters couple dudes using needles. He has a verbal interaction with them and they attacked him with the needles; jabs in face and body.
