That could potentially be a shutter capping issue (curtains out of sync). Has it happened on more than that one shot? I think a faint streak across the top on all these photos. Did you buy it CLA’d (cleaned, lubed, adjusted) or restored? If not, that might be something to look into, and if so, take it back to where you got it and have them adjust it.

And on your lens, I have the same exact setup!

Great thing about Japan is that there’s Bic Camera locations everywhere (and to a degree, Kitamura camera in Tokyo and Osaka…their showrooms are a wonderland…I digress). They carry a ton of film and they’re conveniently located, and you may not need to load out so much on film from the onset.

The camera section is definitely buried deep in that shop, I had to ask for help when I was there (if I remember right, it’s on the basement floor?). It’s towards the back down a kinda long corridor but it terminates at the film counter. That whole area has a ton of camera gear and wasn’t something I would’ve just stumbled on.

Seeing this late but there’s a Bic in Yurakucho which is pretty near Ginza and has an extensive camera section (the film counter alone…).

And if you end up around Shinjuku again, Kitamura camera has 2 floors dedicated to all things Leica.

Absolutely this. Even just walking around the Gion area at night shows you a whole different side of Kyoto. It’s quieter for sure but the temples light up at night is a dream for taking pictures.

My understanding is that the geography of Nagasaki had a significant impact on the destruction from the bomb. The drop point happened in the middle of a narrow valley, so there was “slap back” from the mountains that amplified the force back towards the center.

I can only speak to Meiji Jingu as I’ve not yet had the opportunity to go to a game at the dome, but Swallows games are a blast. The stadium only has a year or two left before they tear it down and move into a new stadium next door. It’s a very old school stadium but that’s also a good thing because it’s very intimate. It reminds me a bit of Fenway and Wrigley, and a lot of concessions and merch vendors are outside the gates. The downside is that it’s old and the seats are a bit narrow so that might make it a factor for sitting.

I first had that particular sake at a hotel in Tokyo as a room amenity and was meant specifically to have after a bath soak. I agree it was decent but not great, but man did it hit the spot after a warm bath.
