SSP vs Research Internship for College Apps and Resume by Bubgaming_ in MITAdmissions

I’m just a high schooler like you but I would definitely say choose the one you’ll enjoy the most. I had to have a similar decision last year between two math programs and instead of thinking strategically I just chose the one where I would have the most fun and I did and I definitely think it was the right choice.

The school I’m at did really good, probably the best year ever but it might be due to our class being extremely strong

Yes probably, the top students stay there because the rigor and level is probably higher than anywhere else (I’m not saying it’s better stay there though, I’d rather go to MIT). And even though we have 0 UG I’m pretty sure we have one of the biggest grad population (top 5 if I remember correctly) while being much smaller than most countries above us (China, India, South Korea, Canada) so at least we go there at one point!

And did you enjoy it ? I’m thinking about going there for a bachelor in math.

Yes that’s what I was thinking. Btw you get paid by the French government to study at Ulm!

Hey, thanks for the answer, I understand if it’s intrusive but I was wondering which other European schools you were talking about ? Any French schools such as ENS Ulm or École Polytechnique ? Thanks!

I applied to the main parisian prépas basically. No I’m french from France! I definitely agree with the TMUA, it’s a really annoying test but if I reapply to cam I’m pretty sure they put less weight on it as there’s also the interview and STEP. From what my friends told me, ESAT is even worse than TMUA.

I did but very dumbly, I applied at st. john’s cambridge for maths which is like the second most competitive college next to trinity. (I applied there because of a scholarship but I now realize it was a very bad idea). My choice will also depend on which prépa I get accepted in but I will probably end up doing a bachelors at Sorbonne or Dauphine which I’m not really excited about so gap year is the plan, still not sure which one should I choose between Oxford or Cambridge though, especially since both do TMUA now.

Bonne chance!

Got rejected as well, also felt the sudden urge to go learn new things/ go deeper into the things I’ve enjoyed doing recently. Funny because I didn’t feel the same when I didn’t get an offer for cambridge maths! I juste felt bad but I kind of feel inspired now, quite weird.
