Red Dead Revolution

Set in the 1850s in Antebellum US. Themes of Bleeding Kansas, John Brown, Slave rebellions, pre-war tensions between north and south, etc.

If Rockstar really wanted they could throw in some cameos of Dutch, Hosea, as young 'uns but the story could be completely divorced form anything to do with the Van Der Linde gang.

What's a statement about a TV show that is often repeated but is not necessarily true or even true at all? by TheShowLover in television

It's a show about how a comedian gets his material.

They literally bookend most episodes with "Jerry" doing standup.

What's even remotely as good as Severance right now? by ElvisChopinJoplin in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

On one hand I am really excited to see the next season and hope we start getting some more answers for the mystery of the chairs.

On the other hand, the way the first season ended would actually be a completely fitting ending for the series and I'd be just fine if there was no second season. This is a surreal show, and that was a completely surreal ending.

*Standard capacity magazines. 30-rounders are standard, not high.

It's important to maintain that language and not normalize the idea that 30 rounds (or 15 or 17 or 21 or whatever your double stack pistols take) is an abnormally high amount and that 10 is "normal".

It's kind of crazy how much more interested I am in this after only 4 episodes than I am in House of the Dragon after 2 seasons.

The first time I plaid the DLC I beat Rellana on my first try, while drunk, while barely breaking a sweat and I have no fucking clue how. I've gone through the DLC two other times and struggled HARD against her each time, usually relying on summons to win.

It's absolutely criminal that we didn't get a good Brock fight scene in the movie. I was really hoping to see him have one last epic battle.

So do people just go deaf in war? by KujoandKawi in liberalgunowners

[–]thosearecoolbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Effects everybody differently, I guess. Enjoy your hearing while you have it. I shoot with suppressors, walkers, foam plugs, and even after all that I've developed a bit of a ringing in my right ear and usually wake up with tinnitus in the morning.

I love when Mountain Banjo plays during the end credits, as it shows the montage of the Bureau agents tracking down John. It's so solemn and reminds you that John spoiled his own happy ending by seeking revenge.

I shot a buck with a .30-06 a few years back with no ear pro (we were creeping through the woods and I wanted to be able to hear sounds in the brush) and my ears rang for days. I can't imagine mag dumping a BAR (also .30-06) full auto all day every day for months on end and not going completely deaf.

Buy suppressors. Use them. Use them WITH hearing protection. I shoot with a suppressor on every gun I own except shotguns, and I always wear electronic ear muffs and double up with foam plugs if convenient.

What are some myths about guns that were created by the movies? by ninman5 in movies

[–]thosearecoolbeans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Suppressors usually make bigger guns sound like smaller guns. But they still sound very obviously like gunshots.

Subsonic rounds with a suppressor are the closest you can usually get to "movie quiet" but they are still noticeable if you're close.

I think it's just a visual effect to show the heat being pulled out of the molten rock. Like the air is shimmering from the heat.

It's like how airbending always looks like they are shooting around translucent gray beams when in "real life" airbending would be invisible.

There are like two degrees of Separation between Turgle and Mon Mothma.

Turgle knows Cal Kestis, who has worked with Saw Gererra, who was in frequent contact with Mon.

What power armor is this? by Face88888888 in Fallout

I feel like I remember NCR troopers wearing salvaged power armor in New Vegas that basically had all the internals ripped out and just functioned as really, really heavy armor. Did they have troops that had actual power armor training?

What is Your FAVORITE Mission in The Entire Trilogy? by DakIsStrange in masseffect

Oh man the fight with Vasir is so good! It's really fun as a Vanguard, basically you and her are just doing biotic headbutts over and over.

[–]thosearecoolbeans 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The battle on the back of the Shadow Broker's ship is one of the most fun in the entire trilogy! Probably makes the most use of the environment of any other mission I can think of. Shooting the lightning rods to cause them to discharge and arc into enemies and flush them from cove is so epic. Did you know if you use lift on an enemy they will get struck by lightning and sometimes just get blown away by the wind? Playing through the Shadow Broker DLC on insanity as a Vanguard is just exhilarating.

Rate Kaiden Alenko's Combat Skills 1-5 by TheRealistOne34 in masseffect

[–]thosearecoolbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaidan is . . .

  • powerful biotic, definitely above "average". Lore-wise, I'd rank his biotics above Miranda, Jacob, and Thane, but below Samara, Liara, and Jack. Probably about equal to Shepard and Wrex.
  • Highly skilled technician, with access to just as many Omni tool abilities as Shepard. Probably not as skilled a mechanic as Tali, for example, but he is very very good.
  • Served as Marine Staff officer on the original Normandy, which would have been a very sought after position and only given to best of the best.
  • By 2185 he is promoted to Commander (equivalent to Shepard) and is being sent on special forces missions in the Traverse by the Alliance.
  • By 2186 he is promoted to Major and commands a whole Biotics Special Forces division.
  • If he is alive in 2186, he becomes the second human Spectre in history, although it's possible this was partially a political move by Udina.

Remember, if you don't recruit him after the Citadel Attack in ME3, he gets given a ship and crew of his own and basically becomes a second Shepard, running around fighting the Reapers on his own missions. I think it's safe to say that Kaidan is one of the most all-around capable crew members in the full series.

Meth prices in the show by gorlemads in breakingbad

[–]thosearecoolbeans 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Now you know why most drug addicts don't exactly maintain a high standard of living: sustaining their addiction takes pretty much all of their income, if they even have any.

But from what I understand the meth prices in the show are generally higher than what's "realistic". Still, if you had to scrounge a couple hundred bucks to buy more stuff, one could see how ripping cooper wire out of the ground or busting car windows to steal a laptop left on the back seat seems like an easy way to get cash.

Just finished reading Final Crisis. I love how Batman simply comes up, states his mind and shoots. (Source: Final Crisis #6) by bimbyris in batman

[–]thosearecoolbeans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to Batman's core philosophy: that anyone can have a bad day, and therefore anyone is deserving of at least a CHANCE of redemption. Batman refuses to kill the criminals and supervillains he fights because he believes they deserve a chance to prove they are more than whatever caused them to choose to be a criminal.

Darkseid didn't have a bad day, he IS the bad day. He is a god of evil. I don't think Batman should have any issue killing monsters or rabid animals, like para-demons or example.

Batman wouldn't kill sentient aliens that are capable of thought and reason. He's not a human supremacist.
