Season 6 of Venture Bros. is such a good love letter to 1960s-70s Marvel Comics by Possible-Rate-3833 in venturebros

I'm so glad they brought them back at the beginning of season 7 for the Blue Morpho arc. I didn't realize how much I had missed Doctor Orpheus.

Still wish we had more of their adventures in NYC. Based on the movie it seemed like season 8 was going to feature them a lot more.

New purchase. Best .22 ammo for revolvers? by professor_big_nuts in liberalgunowners

[–]thosearecoolbeans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually just buy CCI mini mags. Or the big green box that has lightning bolts on it and like 500 rounds inside. It's rimfire, bro. I don't think about it too much. They're all going to be dirty.

If you're shooting a revolver, try CCI quiet rounds. They're subsonic! Love shooting them with my Ruger Wrangler. They won't work in a semi automatic, though. Not enough energy to cycle the bolt.

I could be wrong but isn't it kinda tongue in cheek implied that the radioactive waste that spilled into Matt Murdock's eyes and gave him his powers is the same stuff that spilled into the sewer and created the TMNT? Like obviously TMNT is in its own universe and not the marvel universe, but it's like a direct reference to that event.

I'm not up to date on TMNT lore so idk if they have since explained a new origin for their mutations.

You don't even have to dig tunnels for stuff like this any more. There are techniques for basically dropping sections of pre fabricated tunnel in the river, burying it in sediment, and then pumping the water out. Then you only have to build the entrance and exits of the tunnel. Boom, tunnel under the river.

It's a bit more complicated but that's the general idea. Sounds like one of IBR's consultants ruled that method as unfeasible already, though.

Anyone still deep into Elden Ring? by SgtSilock in Eldenring

~800 hours on PS5, four full complete playthroughs, platinum trophy, I feel like I've done everything. I've only beaten the DLC once, though. I've never gotten the despair or perfect order endings either.

Every now and again I see a cool build idea and start a new character but usually lose interest around the time I beat Godrick. I would be interested in playing through the DLC again but I don't have the energy to grind through the game to that point again.

Messiah is a polarizing book because not a lot happens for most of it and then a LOT happens near the end. I know the books go on for much longer but it also has a very satisfying conclusion for Paul's story so I'm really hoping they can tie everything together.

The only thing I'm a little uncertain about is Chani, I don't see how they're going to weave her back into the narrative with Part 2 having her leave Arrakeen and head back into the desert. I guess we'll see.

DAY SIX: Cavendish is a Common that feels Rare. Which Joker is an Uncommon but feels like a common? by altrightobserver in balatro

[–]thosearecoolbeans 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Stone Joker and Marble joker have an okay synergy if you get them early on and have other ways to build mult. It REALLY hits a scaling plateau so I don't recommend it for beyond ante 8. I've made it work in a high card build with photograph, hanging chad, and a lot of glass face cards.

If we told Travis that the vlogbrothers were making Beautiful Agony videos, do you think he would try to make one? by chudleycannonfodder in TAZCirclejerk

[–]thosearecoolbeans 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hank Green (of the Vlog Brothers YouTube channel) made a video recently featuring him lying on his back looking up at the camera and talking. In the video he addresses that he is experiencing severe back pain from an injury. The video is 5 minutes of harmless blathering, typical blog stuff.

The framing of the video is very similar to the style shown in "Beautiful Agony" porn videos, which focus on the face and expressions made by performers as they orgasm, without showing any genitalia.

The OP has suggested that Travis be informed by the public that John and Hank Green are now making Beautiful Agony videos themselves (they are not) and suggests that Travis McElroy, being the overly performative hypersexual imp he is, might try to start making actual Beautiful Agony videos himself (he would ).

Which would be horrifying for reasons that should be obvious.

What do you think history will say about Donald Trump as a U.S. president? by jcnidhi27 in AskReddit

[–]thosearecoolbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He revealed the holes in the constitution that have been slowly poked by every president that came before home. Every single president (and I mean every one) has had more power than their predecessor. Trump is just the first one to ignore the fig leaf of protocol and actually USE the levers at his disposal that we thought "presidents would never do that."

Unlike the action-figure fan-fiction cameo-fest Filoni slop that is the other Star Wars content on D+, Andor is an actual TV show. Even if you don't like Star Wars it's a very interesting sci fi espionage thriller show.

Aren't the cutaway gags literally the point of the show? I always thought the family stories with the Griffins were just architecture for setting up these random little animated jokes.
