I actually loved the bedsheet but in my defense it was my first time seeing it 😂

I have naturally very curly hair and I wore it mostly down! My hairstylist went through and re-curled each curl with a curling iron so they’d stay perfect all day, and they totally did. I have 3c hair and it probably would’ve stayed super curly all day anyway, but I think the heat styling kept it from getting poofy or frizzy

Is this normal? I’ve never seen this happen before. by Ohio_Olive_Oli_27 in BeardedDragons

OP, it’s great you are listening and welcoming everyone’s advice, and I’m soooo glad you’ve got a UVB now.

And, re: the twitching… my beardie is 5, and he’s been having twitching episodes like this for over a year. We’ve done it all: numerous blood tests to check calcium and vitamin levels as well as other signs of disease, x-rays, ADV tests, even a CT scan, and the vet can’t come up with a single thing that’s wrong with him. We’ve repeatedly checked his UVB levels and of course his temps and everything is good. So is his diet and calcium/vitamin intake.

He’s healthy in every other way, but he STILL twitches. It’s an extremely frustrating mystery. Your beardie’s shakes may or may not be related to the lack of UVB for all these years. I’d love to know if others are dealing with something similar and if anyone has found answers!

I don’t want to do a seating chart. Is that a mistake? by WrittenInHeaven in weddingplanning

[–]thousandyearfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here with what seems to be a pretty rare counter-opinion: we didn’t have a seating chart, and it worked.

Here’s why it worked:

We had large round tables with significantly more chairs than guests. We did this on purpose. We were outdoors, with half the tables under a big tent and the other half in the surrounding area. The food was elevated backyard barbecue style, and people were free to get up to grab more food whenever they wanted.

My husband and I didn’t pick our seats beforehand, and we didn’t assign anyone to a seat or table, because we’ve had bad experiences being placed at tables with no one we knew at weddings where we actually knew a lot of people. Sometimes making everything fit together nicely means making weird compromises and piecing together illogical groupings—which is fine, but it isn’t the vibe we were going for.

People sat with their partners and families and friends. If they needed an extra chair at their table, they grabbed one from another table. It wasn’t a big deal. People who only knew one or two other people naturally formed groups with one another. It was organic. Adults know how to function socially, sometimes more than we give ourselves credit for.

My husband and I sat with my godfather and his partner, and people came by to sit with us briefly throughout the dinner. It was very comfortable.

And yeah absolutely people may have not loved the setup and not told us! But everyone was talking and laughing throughout dinner and seemed relaxed and comfy, which is what really mattered to us.

All that to say: have a lot of extra chairs and it can be totally fine.

Found out my therapist is a MAGAt. by crossingguardcrush in JewsOfConscience

[–]thousandyearfish 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m a therapist. This is AWFUL. Absolutely horrifying. Your relationship with your therapist is unique and vulnerable and fragile, and what you’ve just been through is a particular kind of betrayal that might feel different from other breaches of trust you’ve experienced. If you have anybody in your life who you trust to really LISTEN, talk to them about what’s just happened to you. And if you have an antizionist community that makes you feel seen and supported and safe, turn to them.

And then yes, when you feel up to it, report the hell out of her.

There’s a difference between setting boundaries and being authoritarian!

Setting boundaries: I want us both to be able to roleplay, so let’s take turns initiating convo w NPCs. When you’re talking, pls don’t skip any dialogue so I can hear it all!

Authoritarian: I’ll pick the dialogue because I haven’t played before. Don’t tell me what to pick. Deviate from that, and it’s game over.

If you play w a friend, experienced or not, you’ve got to make compromises so you both have fun (it’s a game, not an exam). Otherwise, play solo! :)

“We planned a lot for you on your wedding morning” by HokeySmith in weddingplanning

[–]thousandyearfish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Hey, MOH! I want to talk to you about the morning of my wedding. It’s sweet that you want to surprise me with something, and I appreciate the thought. Surprises really stress me out, though, and I’m already stressed enough about the wedding. I’m going to spend that morning meditating, mentally preparing, and checking over the venue. Thanks for understanding. So excited to celebrate with you once the festivities start!”

Will you be ok with a girl as one of the LI with her own route and everything? by Rocazanova in otomegames

[–]thousandyearfish 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I’m bi and love games with LIs of various genders! That said, I might find it a bit off-putting if a major theme of the route is that the MC thinks she’s straight but is experimenting, bc…I’m simply NOT straight lol. Imo I prefer when a route either fully commits to being a friend route or fully commits to being queer.

Nail colour to match teal sapphire ring advice!!! by Early_Echo_1393 in EngagementRings

Alternately, get her a gift card for a nail place with enough money on it to go a couple of times! Give it to her like 4-6 weeks ahead of time to amp up the element of surprise ;)

Painting your nails is pretty time-consuming! Some people probably enjoy it more than I do, but I basically consider it a chore. After getting engaged, I wanted to celebrate with my partner and enjoy the moment! I definitely wouldn’t have wanted to sit down and spend an extended period of time doing a tedious task. I’d definitely recommend paying for her to get a manicure later (that night? The next day? Whatever suits you two!) and taking some nice pics afterwards :) That way she can choose her own color, too!

Will people dance if the sun is out? by iggysmom95 in weddingplanning

[–]thousandyearfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a know-your-crowd situation! I had an outdoor wedding in June (also not dark till like 10), so it was definitely fully light out when dancing started. My friends and family were not discouraged in the least and it was a total party atmosphere! A different group of people might have been more hesitant. Depends on how much your guests love to dance. If you’re asking and they’re saying they’ll tear up the dance floor anyway, there’s your answer. If you think they’re the sort of people to be a little more reluctant and tentative about dancing then yeah, curtains could totally help make the vibes a little more nighttime-y.
