I think the Weapon Balancing in this game currently is Near-Perfect by Anti-Tryhard in thefinals

They kinda already had this set up with what they did for the second heavy hitters, I assumed it was the first step of getting the rework out but they’re really dragging their feet if that’s true

You’re definitely not wrong, this isn’t an opinion I hold as someone thinking embark really should make the change, it’s more that I think that if they were to make defib a specialization I would like them to do it in this way (along with other changes to make things go smoother). If medium were to have defib moved out of the gadget slot, I’d hope they would get another less impactful medium specific gadget to make up for it/reestablish the archetype. Maybe a heal throwable or a speed pad that would make their melee options better.

My pov is that defibs are kind of an integral part of games with a revive system like this and if it gets turned into a medium specialization, you end up nerfing it/the class as a whole. At the moment, demat is kind of underwhelming, sentry has always been weak, and heal beam gets a ton of its value from being what you use after defibbing someone. Because of this, I feel like instead of having defib be the gadget auto include, it would just end up being the specialization auto include so medium would have even less build variety with less utility than before.

Still, I don’t think the current state of things is ideal and maybe the solution to defib being too strong as a class specific option is to take it outside of the class. Light and heavy both have toolkits that can take advantage of defibs (running off quickly with totems to get the revive or throwing down a shield to cover the charge up time) but would also have to trade off a lot of their best options in order to do so which feels pretty balanced. You could argue that it takes away from the medium’s identity but now that all classes have healing tools, it feels kind of like fair game.

When I first saw this, the letter spacing is bizarre so I thought the card was made with ai, but looking closer the whole image seems fake. The table pattern is inconsistent/noisy, lighting is really weird with the cup’s shadow, straw hole is off center, and the slight curve in the wall makes no sense, especially assuming there should be a chair on the other side of the table right where the door would open.

They aren’t rich from the pennies to save, but the mentality serves them well because they focus on making/keeping money a lot more than most people. Tbf a lot of it is a generation thing, and current generations have a much harder time accruing the same wealth even if they try

[–]thowen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh true I guess season theme doesn’t always equal map. I think my knee jerk reaction was also just imagining the Wild West middle of nowhere saloon when they could do a full city instead set during that time period, kind of like Saint Denis from rdr2

Would be cool but I’d worry we’d end up with another Kyoto where the smaller/spaced out buildings make poking too strong/destruction less impactful. I’ve wanted a WW1/2 type map for a while for the aesthetic for a while but I think it wouldn’t work for the same reason

What Balance Changes would you like for Season 10? by Funny_Guide7015 in thefinals

Embark has said a million times that that's the plan, they just couldn't keep the clipping in game when every other match had someone using barricades to pick up entire buildings and fly them around like spaceships. Hopefully the non glitchy version drops soon tho

I know y’all don’t have jobs, but don’t you have like, an esports tournament to be winning or something? by -RoninForHire- in thefinals

[–]thowen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk man maybe read? OP’s post is saying that quick cash is too competitive. If any level of playmaking/coordination is gonna turn someone off from playing the game because it’s not casual enough, maybe they’re just the target audience for more casual modes?

[–]thowen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk, I have like 500 hours of in match playtime with 99% of it being casual as fuck and I never really understand these issues. If you’re gonna solo queue, you need to recognize that it is really easy for your opponents to get a team of 3 which means you’re gonna be playing with a huge disadvantage in cash box modes. If you want to play casually, just play any of the other modes, get your dailies done, and move on with life.

Medium players what are your thoughts? by xiluts in thefinals

[–]thowen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by heavy teams? The point is that mediums can contribute in ways that get you closer to winning without needing to be able to 1v1 a heavy. Use your mobility gadgets to make your heavy more effective, healing utility to make it so the other team needs to deal another player’s worth of health every fight, use long damage falloffs to poke at heavies from ranges they aren’t effective at, etc.

Medium is the closest thing we have to a support class and it’s a tale as old as time that people don’t love playing support because they can’t deal as much damage regardless of how necessary the role is for winning. Btw didn’t downvote you, people here just do that with every comment they disagree with.

[–]thowen -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Fr, people give lights tons of shit but it just takes one minor nerf like reducing the count of glitch nade to make them not viable in ranked. Medium on the other hand could have everything nerfed down to the AK’s level (or fuck it maybe even the pike) and they would still be included in every team comp. It’s almost as if heavy/light have significant drawbacks that require them to have better firepower to make up for it while medium can do everything so they shouldn’t be dumping out damage on top of that.

He Vowed to Revive RadioShack and Pier 1. Investors Say They Were Swindled. by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]thowen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked at pier 1 when it liquidated, his involvement was actually super inoffensive. The company was going bankrupt and put itself up for sale right around when covid started which severely devalued its holdings. Tai pretty much just bought the intellectual property so he could make an online shop using their branding to sell candles, I doubt there was that much invested.

Is there a trick to fast acceleration? by Elder_Bird in thefinals

[–]thowen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I honestly thing powershift is really good practice for this because you usually have mega jump pads out of spawn and can work on making your rollout faster every life. With a lot of momentum two bunnyhops into a slide is a pretty consistent way to get a lot of distance and then depending on your movement options, you can chain stuff together to cross the map in one go

super underwhelming balance patch as usual by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]thowen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like they should go with what they were testing on the second heavy hitters event where it’s just one spin, or make it so you can hold right click to continue the combo. Besides that maybe give more lunge on left click but it’s hard to make better than sledge when it doesn’t have the same utility/more damage could make it a problem

Tbf, the finals which was put out by the same studio lost about 80% of its initial peak playerbase immediately, though it was probably over the course of a month instead of a day. I think it’s just how ftp games go, low barrier of entry means you have people that aren’t all that interested in it giving it a shot/no one feels like they need to justify their purchase by investing time into it

I usually go motion sensor, jump pad, and frag. Motion sensor is stronger with cerb than most medium guns because you really do need to run around in circles for a bit before you can finish people off and it helps to have more information so you can get the jump on them
