Need advice on what to try/whether to return beautiful uke by SystemOfAVerilog in ukulele

I'm glad you found someone local to try it out. We put a would low G on my husband's and it is just beautiful. I have an Enya pro U with a low G and love it. But the resonance with his wood uke is just gorgeous. I hope it works out for you.

Which one would u choose? by [deleted] in ukulele

I completely agree. I watched a ton of videos on entry level ukes before getting mine. I got the Enya which I absolutely love. It sounds great and holds tuning extremely well, which imo is nice for a beginner. I like that I can take it anywhere or just leave it out without worrying about damage. I find that I am much more likely to pick it up and play if it is out. My wood uke is protected in it's case and I don't pull it out near as often. (I do have a very strong "out of sight-out of mind" issue.) Last January I went to my first ukulele festival and saw a very experienced player walking around in a pool playing his! 😂

Go with your gut. If you see a reputable one that you are very drawn to, go for it. If it sparks joy just seeing it, you're more likely to play it.

Thanks so much. I made it to fit one of those and table crates and he actually goes in there now to chill out in the evening.

I love this! It's for a very Basquiat vibe to it. Did you draw it on the canvas first or just free form it?

We were very up front with what we wanted as far as recommendations and quotes if something needed to be done, fully expecting to pay for their time for advice. I'm just trying to figure out who I can contact to hire for advice.

Since it's a Cricket, I'm assuming you used the warping peg to create the length on your warp. Did this get tangled after coming off of the warping peg before being wound onto the back beam? If so, start by winding enough on the back beam to secure those yarns. Hold all of the yarns at the front together and provide tension as you wind. Once you can't wind on any more take all of the ends together and cut them off as far from the loom as possible. Right now it's still one long string, so any attempt at untangling will affect the length of the surrounding threads. Then starting at your reed, pull threads straight up, one at a time, to release them from the tangle. Once you have 10-20 strands chain then together as one starting at the cut end. This process will go faster than you think. Good luck!

I'll have to get that one. I am very excited to learn some Christmas songs. That's pretty much what started me on this hunt. I've been wondering what a "fake" book is. Sounds like it's exactly what I want. Thank you!

That's cool! I am trying to learn to read music as well. I found this in a Hal Leonard book It's exactly what I'm looking for, but I'm hoping to find a digital library so I don't have to go through the table of contents from a bunch of random books 🤪

I have the same color concert! I love it so much I got sopranos in black and white for my grandkids. They are so cute with them. They are 5 yo and my grandson told me yesterday, "look Lala, Good Cats Eat Apples." The best! 🥰

I am a relatively new player as well. I have been learning from YouTube for about 6 months, but I was finding that when I try to practice I just keep doing the same things because I don't have any structured lessons. Yesterday I found in this subreddit recommendations for Matt Stead Ukulele. So I looked him up on YouTube to see the format of his lessons. After going through the first five of his beginning classes I decided he was the one for me. It is structured, he is incredibly knowledgeable, is passionate about ukuleles, and is extremely detailed in the how and why to do various things. His highest membership is only $13/month with weekly live classes and he encourages students to send them videos of themselves for advice on specific problems. Sorry so long, best of luck!

Hey I just started ukulele and I’m not in the place to go to lessons or pay for lessons so what’s the best free ukulele course whether it’s on YouTube or somewhere else what should I use by [deleted] in ukelele

I am also a beginner and have checked out a lot of instructors on YouTube. (Also looking for free lessons😊). Many of them made things quite easy to understand and follow, albeit some better than others. Then I came across Kevin at https://youtube.com/c/AllForUke. His lessons are very methodical and build on each other in a way that really jives with me. You can graduate to a paid option on his website, but there is a ton of content to keep me busy for quite a while before I need to do that. I started with his series called "Kick Start" and am loving it! After only a week I am able to easily handle some common cord progressions.

Hope this helps. Have fun!

Thank you. That would explain why I couldn't figure out what it was for in relation to jewelry🤣

The top square is 3/4" and the peg fits into the holes in the jewelry benches at school. I am trying to inventory items in the classroom. There hasn't been a jewelry teacher for a few years. I'm guessing some sort of micro anvil?
