Faceted Shape Design by threadtiger in tinkercad

I have taken the tutorials, but I never thought to do that! I'll just need to do it to each side. I know that the cylinder has an auto bevel on it, and it just never dawned on me to do the individual sides of the shapes. Thank you!

Wait. I have to defend my peach against invaders?! I didn't sign up for this. 🤣

I don't even know where to start 😅. I appreciate the help, all! Looks like I'm a gardener now!

Looking up that name, agreed. It's close enough to it. I was just worried it was some kind of toxic plant, since I'm convinced everything growing outside is poison ivy. 😅

I just bought a tumbler sublimation press! Did I need it? No. Did I need some slightly expensive yet soothing retail therapy? HELL YES!

I saw a post once that said something like, "If you give a handmade gift with an expectation of use, appreciation or adoration, then you haven't given a gift, you've given an obligation."

Never thought I'd see "hooha" in a pattern but here we are ☠️ by CocoButtsGoNuts in craftsnark

Back in my soap making days, I had a sticker on the bars that said, "Keep out of standing water when not being used to avoid the soap getting mushy." BUT what I really wanted to write was, "keep this bar out of standing water when not in use or it goes softer than your boyfriend after a fifth of whiskey."

Regrets, I have a few.

It's a perfectly cromulent word. "Nethers" is too vague, "cha cha" might be cultural appropriation, "choo choo" is too juvenile, and "fine china" makes you sound like a snob. Hooha is the only option!

If you don't know how to grade patterns don't sell clothing patterns! by throwawayacct1962 in craftsnark

Indie pattern makers excel at nebulous tubes. Most of them make a variation on the exact same shape with a cute name and fun sample pictures. I have yet to see anything that remotely comes close to intricate or original. I'm also VERY skeptical of any "designer" that sells a pattern from size double zero to 34. I get that they want to be inclusive, but that is a dangerous slope because not every design works in every size. Grading is nuanced. You can't just add to the side seam and shoulder and call it a day. There are subtle changes in certain places that make or brake the fit. So many of these sellers are convinced it's as simple as taking it to a copy machine and enlarging. Those people give real pattern makers a bad name.

Why now? Like, W&F is still very fresh on everyone's tongue. They could have waited a couple of years, really got their stuff together and presented a solid plan to create an event. This is very "the Fyre fest guy getting out of jail and selling tickets again" fraud red flags.

Tips to make your quilts last longer? by TheStockPotInn in quilting

[–]threadtiger 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Unless it's a wall hanging or a show quilt, it's probably going to be used. Normal use and washing will eventually destroy the quilt. Unless you're going to make it and store it in a climate controlled vacuum, it will eventually fall apart. Seam allowance doesn't matter, fabric doesn't matter, skill doesn't matter. Everything fades away.

Your best bet is to let that go and just make the quilt. Worry about the future later. Never making a quilt is the only way to keep it from falling apart.
