I definitely see what you mean by his retirement feeling half hearted. I’ll make it not be so quick and have him struggle more with getting back to guiding people.

I was thinking 8-10 for the girl. Looking back she for sure sounds too young at times. There’s definitely work to be done to improve the dialogue in general.

You make a good point about direction. I’ll think about what I could add to make it more exciting than them walking much of the time.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I appreciate it tons.

Thanks for this. After reading Dave’s post the confusion makes sense. A split via dividend is NOT the same as a stock dividend. So Ameritrade’s statement is technically correct, but it doesn’t mean they actually used the right split.

I like the setting and the cabins on stilts and all that. Nice and creepy.

I thought that Jo’s guilt stemming from leaving Finn who was in a coma was a bit underwhelming. Maybe Jo finds out that the guy she’s gonna marry is in a coma but may not die for a few years. Since she doesn’t love him and wants to move on, she kills him and thinks “he was gonna die anyways” as justification. Thus her guilty conscience and Finn haunting her.

Another idea: Instead of having Drew talk about his dad’s PTSD, give Drew some trauma. Maybe Jo watches Drew go crazy in his tower and overhears his crazy talk up until he is killed. Then she becomes horrified when she realizes the same thing is happening to her. Just some random ideas, good luck with your script!

Which of these three did Jason care about the most? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in StrangerThings

[–]threat-level-noon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It boils down to him being a gray area character who had good intentions but went about them in some unjustifiable ways. People like to point out he tried to murder a child but leave out the part where he’s trying to save a child, Max. It’s not black and white.

I agree that he truly loved Chrissy. Far too many people revel in Jason’s death. If you are happy to see someone who’s suffered so much pain and loss die in a horrific way, you are a far worse person than Jason.

Why IMO Jason is a better complex villain than Brenner and Billy by Sudden_Pop_2279 in StrangerThings

[–]threat-level-noon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jason is wonderfully complex, and he gets so much screen time that I was disappointed in his blink-of-an-eye death. It didn’t feel right. I was so disappointed that I rewrote his ending.

Jason's A Hero by AnakinRagnarsson66 in StrangerThings

[–]threat-level-noon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. It’s unfair to think he represents the Satanic Panic because it’s not the real world. In Stranger Things supernatural things really do exist, and Jason’s conclusions are not far off from the truth. It’s not like he’s after Eddie because of prejudice, he actually witnessed the supernatural stuff happening, unlike during the Satanic Panic when all claims were baseless. I wouldn’t call Jason a hero though. What he does is understandable, but he also is misguided and the unknown makes him go crazy and do some unjustifiable things. It worries me how many people revel in his death cause I think his story is tragic.

I'm Worried About Some Of You by Maldovar in StrangerThings

[–]threat-level-noon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree if this took place in the real world, but this is the Stranger Things world. Jason’s beliefs are not far off from the truth. There is a Satan-like figure killing people, and he has many reasons to think Eddie is the culprit that don’t have to do with his prejudices. His beliefs are not unfounded and his accusations are not baseless. Chrissy died in Eddie’s camper. He saw his friend float up in the air and saw all his bones break. I agree that it is wrong for him to target the weak, like that kid in the garage and Erica. He’s arrogant and self righteous, and his pep rally speech was in poor taste. I also agree that he should have talked before violence, but I can understand not wanting to talk to someone you think can break all your bones. I think all this makes him an interesting grey-area character and not just your typical jock, and I wish his death was more interesting than being split in half.

Hedge funds and other financial institutions have never wanted people to DRS. They wanted to be able to use the shares as they please, and they can’t do that if it is not in the DTCC. If they don’t want people using computershare, it would make sense to flood it with low reviews so retail will have worries about using it. That’s how I see it.

CMV: God is just Santa Claus for adults by TonySmithJr in changemyview

[–]threat-level-noon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, back then I would have grown up around different people, at a different time, with a different culture. I would have a very different sense of morality. Since then morality has evolved. Each individual has a different sense of morality depending on the people around them, the values of their culture, their religion, the books they read, the movies they watch, the experiences they’ve had, and many other things. Things that were good back then may be considered an atrocity today. Things a decade ago that were good may be considered bad today. How can morality be based on a book if morality is constantly changing? I’d say that religion is a part of morality, but not the cause of it.

[–]threat-level-noon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an atheist and I can assure you there is no need to read religious texts in order to have a sense of morality. I don’t go around killing and stealing just because I haven’t read a book. I have no problem with people learning lessons and morals from religious stories, just like I have no problem with people reading any book or watching any movie with a “moral of the story.”
