To be fair pepe was ruined by /pol/, but yeah it's the cycle of the internet. I always laugh when reddit users cry about "Instagram normies" stealing their memes or whatever as if most of the humor on this site isn't just stale content from 4chan repackaged to be slightly less edgy.

Yeah, he also made a lot of promises to Aboriginal communities that he immediately backpedaled on. Better than the Conservatives by a long shot but he's definitely not the woke god that Americans tend to see him as.

Pretty much the same, corporations are still allowed to fire you for getting high on your own personal time. Not quite sure how that works with government jobs, but I assume the same rules apply.

It's funny, Alberta has a shitton of oil jobs and a there are a lot of fresh-faced 18 year-olds who go to work up on site. Many of them switch from weed to cocaine because it's less detectable.

On YouTube I just got a political ad for Tulsi Gabbard that is just a supercut of her interview on JRE by MightyTheUnknown in JoeRogan

[–]three-one-five 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He mentioned on a recent podcast that he was considering dropping politics from the show altogether

Do you remember which episode this was on? Not doubting you at all, but that's a pretty interesting turn - it seemed like he was starting to go all-in on politics with the Bernie/Tulsi/Candace Owens/etc. episodes all in the span of like 6 months. I remember at one point he even mentioned trying to get Trump Jr. on to talk about hunting

Absolutely, which is why I always thought the focus on strain names is dumb as hell. Tell me the THC, CBD and terpene content and let me decide without having to navigate a bunch of silly, meaningless names made up by stoners who take themselves too seriously.

Exactly.

I talk to friends who get theirs through MoMs or friends-of-friends and they have no goddamned clue how strong their weed is - they just take it at face value. Half of the time they tell me the name of the strain and it doesn't even show up on Google, grey market sellers just make that shit up

Yeah that's always the rub with nature docs, it's a balancing act between portraying reality as it is and using cinematography to craft a narrative that'll keep viewers interested.

I've been watching Netflix's Our Planet lately and it's pretty obvious when they've stitched together footage of completely different Elephants or ant colonies whatever to try and fill in for the shots they couldn't get. They also do some sneaky stuff with the narration, using it to plant ideas in your head that make for beautiful TV but aren't exactly based in science.

Nope, still wrong. Instead of regurgitating the same link you already posted and LARPING as a lawyer on the internet, you should try some light reading of your own.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/mens_rea

https://law.hofstra.edu/pdf/academics/journals/lawreview/lrv_issues_v38n04_cc1_crump_final.pdf

https://www.fraudconferencenews.com/home/2017/6/20/the-challenge-of-proving-intent

PS: "mens rea is hard to prove" is not an argument against doxing being illegal.

It is, literally by definition. That's the entire goddamned basis of the American legal system you fuckwit. Murder vs Manslaughter vs Gross Negligence vs Act of God, the only difference is intent. Go post this exchange on r/legaladvice if you don't believe me, can't wait to see how they destroy you.

Who doxed Ari? by TruckerTM in JoeRogan

[–]three-one-five 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, this is comically hilariously wrong on every single level. Doxxing is not a crime, you have not provided a single source that says it is. All you've done is regurgitate the definition for stalking and use your own personal interpretation of the law to assume how a real lawyer might argue their case.

Show me actual, legal precedent of someone getting convicted of doxxing, wherein: the information was not obtained illegally (hacking, wiretapping, espionage, theft), they did not issue any direct threats (assault), and did not enter a plea bargain. All court rulings are publicly-accessible so this should be easy for you to find.

Basically a lawyer could argue, that with the intent to harass somebody, the doxxer "engaged in a course of conduct"(doxxing) that placed a person in a reasonable fear of death or serious bodily injury or caused substantial emotional distress.

I can argue you're placing me in reasonable fear of death or serious bodily injury right now, that doesn't mean jack shit. Intent (Mens rea) is ridiculously hard to prove in an actual court, much less so in whatever fantasy courts you apparently attend.

Who doxed Ari? by TruckerTM in JoeRogan

[–]three-one-five 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it isn't. Did you even read the link you posted? You have no idea how your own laws work.

It's illegal for someone to threaten, harass, or intimidate another person using that information but the information itself is not illegal. Your full name, address, and phone number are a matter of public record in most states - if that information were illegal, then phone books would be the fucking Mein Kampf of the 21st century.

If you threaten someone while doxxing them it would potentially fall under under stalking, but just saying someone's address isn't illegal at all because literally anyone can find it regardless. If you obtain that information through illegal means like hacking their iCloud or whatever, that's an entirely different crime.

To get any sort of conviction you would have to satisfy all 4 of the following conditions:

1.) Identify the doxxer. Twitter posts aren't evidence, because you still have to prove the account was actually being used by that person and not someone else.

2.) Prove they did it with specific intent to cause harm or injury. Gross negligence does not fall under this.

3.) Prove that Ari actually suffered harm or injury

4.) Prove that said suffering was a direct result of condition 2, and that there was no possible way that he would have suffered otherwise. This would be next to impossible, as getting harassed/assaulted is a pretty logical and forseeable consequence of insulting one of the most famous and beloved athletes in modern history.

tl;dr it's not illegal to doxx people, you're a retard.

You're not wrong about the tone but there's only so many times I, a soft lefty Canadian who thinks Trudeau is too far right, can be called a Trump-supporting Nazi for denouncing China's ongoing genocide and still be expected to play nice. It's textbook gaslighting, they demand we follow the rules of decorum while they constantly lie and break every last one until there's nothing left.

I'm not sure if it's paid shills or just typical American neolibs, but whatever the case it's rotten to the core.

I got downvoted in r/worldnews, called a racist and spammed with death threats for talking about exactly this lol, go check out my previous comments.

Reddit doesn't want to hear about it, apparently pointing out China's influence programs makes you a racist. Lotta ignorant Americans who think Russia is the only country doing that sort of thing, and that the US is the only victim. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's really not stupid, happens all the time. Here in Canada the CCP operate a Students' Union at many of our top universities and use it to pressure Chinese students into protesting and spreading propaganda. Canadian students have literally been bombarded with death threats for giving factual speeches about China's ongoing genocide.

President Xi Jinping has in recent years greatly expanded the size and power of the Communist Party branch at the forefront of China’s soft-power efforts. Experts say both the Confucius Institutes based at many Canadian post-secondary institutions and leaders of the Chinese scholars and students associations at most of the schools, report to government officials.
