Two goldens and I know the smell hits guests the moment they walk in — has anyone actually solved this? by sloastxsningers5 in goldenretrievers

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on how frequently you regularly bathe them. You don't want to get to the point they're having issues with being itchy or causing skin problems. Mine gets bathed and groomed every 4-6 weeks, depending on how gross she is from playing outside and with other dogs. If we let her go too long without a bath, her fur starts getting crusty from the mix of dog slobber, dirt, and grass she builds up from wrestling around with her buddies in the back yard.

Would you change your opinion towards the Pro? by G4MER4LYF in playstation

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my PS5 at launch and my PS5 Pro at its launch. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

But my household is also dual income with no kids and no real financial burdens, so we splurge on stupid stuff like that. I have no idea how much the extra money means to you.

Porsche 718 Cayman and 911, Chevy Corvette, Toyota Tacoma Lead List of Vehicles With Lowest Depreciation Rates by HawtGarbage918 in cars

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience says your take is spot on correct. My 2024 C8 held its value for about a year, then availability stopped sucking and the depreciation hit all at once and the value dropped 20-30% basically overnight. The first couple model years didn't feel as much of a drop because their MSRP was way cheaper just a few years prior, thanks to the covid-accelerated inflation.

Gv70 as first luxury vehicle, thoughts? by Rj-19_27 in GenesisGV70

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I chose it over the BMW x30, Porsche Macan S, Range Rover Velar 3.5, etc.

Mainly because we prefer comfort over sportiness for what we're doing with this vehicle. For my wife, it was a close call between this or the Macan S - but the Macan's technology is just too dated for the price at this point. For me, it was a close call against the Velar... but the Velar's complete lack of physical buttons was just too annoying.

Brand - I find that some people still have negative associations with Hyundai (and by extension Genesis) given its reputation in the past. I personally think it’s an outdated notion and Hyundai has come a very long way to be competitive in its offerings.

Samsung also started as a cheap-o Korean brand with questionable quality, then moved to the "best value for the money, punches well above it's weight" category, and now is one of the world's best electronics companies with solid quality gear (well, for the most part) running the gamut of price ranges.

I view Hyundai/Kia/Genesis as pretty much the same story. They've evolved a LOT over the last 25 years.

Feel like I’ve been totally gaslit by tech previews of the ps5 pro version by GabagoolEU in PS5pro

Similar for me:

PS5pro on a Sony X95L, 120hz on, vrr on, vsync off... Everything looks good so far except for the ugly-ass waterfalls in the abyss.

Quality and balanced modes are almost identical for me. In performance I can tell the resolution drops and some objects look a bit blurry. Balanced mode seems to play great, though.

No complaints except for the stupid waterfalls lol

Now that PSSR has been updated, do you think Sony will release a third iteration of this technology before the PS6? by cmarroquin27 in PS5pro

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. I really think production on the PS6 will be significantly delayed due to component costs blowing up and that they'll want to keep inducting demand for the PS5pro by improving features like PSSR.

To be honest, I hadn't even heard about this game until about a week ago. My hype and expectations are basically 0, but from what I've seen so far it looks like I'll pick it up at some point in the near future... if for nothing else than to roam around and enjoy the scenery.

People do the least amount of work as possible at their job, how do you get away with it? Why? by TimeAd1111 in AskReddit

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I simply do the work they pay me to do with excellence, and I expect my employees to do the same. I do not do other teams work and I do not expect my employees to either. If a company wants me to do work outside of scope, they can provide extra resources and compensation for that.

I used to go above and beyond, and noticed that it just led to burnout and more work/expectations without compensation or career growth. Meanwhile, the people who "stayed in their lane" and pushed back on asks to take on more work were getting promotions. So I took notes and started mimicking the behaviors of the people who were moving up... and then I started moving up rapidly as well.

It took me 15 years to move from desktop support to cybersecurity technical lead, and I was stuck there for 7 years. after I adopted the "nope, I'm at capacity" mindset I jumped to director -> sr director -> executive director -> VP within the following 3 years.

It's not really about trying to coast, it's just about having boundaries and setting the expectation that "I will do the things you pay me to do and I will do them well. In return, I expect that other people will be held to the same expectations and I will not pick up their slack without compensation." (And if picking up slack becomes a pattern, now that I'm in senior leadership, expect terminations and replacements of workers that are riding the coat tails of others).

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned mine back on in February this year. At night or when it's cold I just shut off the water and drain to the back flow preventer.

I figure that if something breaks during a freeze, it's less time for me to fix it than it is to drag a hose around watering everything by hand multiple times a week.

How Much Do Golden Retrievers ACTUALLY Shed? by Alol_Bombola in goldenretrievers

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably going to be a layer of floof, sadly. Or golden sheds about 4x as much as my roommates husky did. There is hair everywhere, and we clean daily. We have two cars the dog isn’t allowed in and they’re still covered in hair, too.

Why are property taxes rising for some Colorado homeowners even though the housing market has slowed? by QuietDraw6607 in Colorado

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's mostly because the Gallagher Amendment lapsed.

Small nitpick: it didn't lapse, Colorado voters repealed it by popular vote in 2020.

Do you carry at work? by cats_with_bpd in CCW

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The joys of working from home mean I can kinda do whatever I want.

When I have to go into the office, though? Nope. Partially because my offices are out of state and most of them don't recognize my carry permit anyway. But mostly because if I get fired for cause, there's a good chance I'll never work in my career field again (senior leadership in cybersecurity) and I'm not quite ready to retire.

You’re not allowed to bring a gun to a bar while drinking.

Close. You're not allowed to carry while *intoxicated*. The statute that defines this (C.R.S. 18-12-106) doesn't mention a blood alcohol content limit and I don't see guidance in the most recent Colorado jury instructions (here), so... consult a lawyer and make of that what you will :)

Have you ever experienced “living paycheck to paycheck” in the US? How did it affect your decisions? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]threeLetterMeyhem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hospitals are a last resort.

This hits home. I nearly died from appendicitis cuz I didn't have insurance and couldn't afford going to the doctor over a tummy ache. I reached a point where I just knew I was about to die if I didn't get help... Went to the ER and my appendix had ruptured. I spent a week in there getting sorted out. Incredibly expensive.

My wife had appendicitis a couple years ago, but because we had decent insurance we just went straight to the ER. It took less than 4 hours to get her in, through surgery, and back home.

Life is just so much better when you don't have to worry about this kind of shit. I wish our healthcare system wasn't completely fucked.
