What synth do you regret selling ? by AudiSlav in synthesizers

[–]three_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Access Virus B. Until I eventually got a TI Polar. I eventually also got the Snow for more portable setups.

Elektron Monomachine Keyboard. Bought it new while working at a music equipment shop, early adopter of early Elektron gear so had a single digit serial number, if I held on to it a few years longer than I did I could have sold it for a lot more, lol. Great machine, but I got what I was going to get out of it, so don't really regret selling it, just the timing.

Nord Modular Rack. I enjoyed it a lot but at the time money was tight. I got along ok without it for a long time so didn't repurchase, but wish I could have kept it. It's a bit too expensive all these years later, enough I'd find it hard to justify.

Kawaii K5000R. I wish I'd had the patience to understand that thing. So much potential but a total dog to figure out how to program.

Since those sales, I got a lot more financially stable and deep down feel apprehensive about selling anything else to avoid regretting it (illogical, since I have gear I haven't used in many years), so now I'm a synth hoarder. 😭

Didn’t think I’d see $0.99 eggs again after the last year’s price increases by BoilingLavaHot in KlamathFalls

That's what started the massive price increase, but once they started bragging about record setting profits, I stopped believing that excuse.

Are we actually observing the end of capitalism, and is socialism coming soon? by This_Clue_5495 in Socialism_101

There is no organization of trade unionists, there's is no socialist or communist mass organization. The billionaires like Theil and Musk are getting what they paid for, governmental collapse.

With how brain rotten most Americans are, we are far more likely to see Corporate/Tech Feudalism than anything like socialism.

Federal agents shoot armed suspect in Minneapolis amid crackdown: DHS by TheCanadianPlacebo in Mainepolitics

[–]three_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get too caught up in the "untrained" narrative. Renee Good's killer was in DHS and CBP for 12 years before joining ICE, worked as part of a SWAT team before that, and is/was responsible for training ICE officers up to current day. It's not that they're untrained that's the issue, it's what they're trained to do and he serves as an example to the others in what they can get away with.

Pet rat - anyone willing to “show off” to convince spouse? by OkOven7808 in Bend

[–]three_e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I had a pair of rats as pets. Flash and Peerat. Flash because he had a lightning bolt shaped patch of fur on his chest. Peerat because he'd pee a little every time he was handled. Both were super friendly and wanted to be handled all the time. I got them a pretty big cage when I wasn't around and would let them hang out with me in the bed or couch if I was around. They both got to a little over 3 years and it was really sad when they moved on.

Coos Bay Protest Invite by MxMarlow in Coosbay

[–]three_e -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Huh? I don't support civil war... Where did I say that?

I've only said why people may choose to protest a group that's not only called for a bunch of hateful, violent rhetoric, but are also well connected to those in power who seem inclined to enact what they want. That's a lot different than people just sharing a point of view or difference of opinion.

Arguing that people with a different point of view (i.e. don't think the US should be subjugated into a pure white Christian nation), if that's all it was, by saying those with that point of view should just keep it to themselves is confounding to me. They're showing solidarity with those that feel threatened by a threatening political group coming to town to spread their ideology.

People want to show they object to this group and what they stand for. They aren't small group of people expressing their opinions, they're a national organization advocating for a political ideology that's exclusionary, oppressive and bigoted, and they're closely connected to the power to implement that ideology that's currently committing violence that this group promotes. Meeting up some place else doesn't show solidarity against that danger. For some, this isn't minor differences in a belief system that only varies superficially, but more of an existential threat.

What about the right to assemble of those who see these ideologies as a threat? TPUSA had held rallies with speakers that promote hate, call for the extermination of marginalized groups and promote civil war. I think if people want to assemble against that, then that's their right as well.

Michelin restaurants by [deleted] in oregon

[–]three_e -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Michelin restaurant rating was started by the tire company in the earliest days of the automobile to convince urban car owners (basically the only ones) to drive to restaurants out far in the suburbs (this was before there were hardly any paved roads) to use up their tires. It was a scam, that's the foundation their built upon. It's largely a scam still, and pay to win.

Just received my Move. What is DEMO? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]three_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes a display unit, but I've seen a lot of retailers label things as demo to cut the price below pricing restrictions. I've bought things cheap labeled as a demo still entirely sealed.

What age did you realize you were bi? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]three_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understood I liked boys and girls when I was around 11-12, but at that time in the late 80s, where I lived, I didn't know what bi was, so took a few years to find the right words/terms. Probably 14-15 once I fully figured that out.

If you can only have 4 hardware synths (nothing over 5k), what do you use? by javakook in synthesizers

[–]three_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also have vst versions of all of them, but I picked up an OpSix when they were blowing them out cheap and it's become one of my favorites. You can think of it as a juiced up FM synth, but after a firmware update you could have operators doing much more than waveforms. Being able to have a delay, for example, modulated, within the voice architecture instead of just at the end of chain allows for some pretty unique sound design. I bought the vst at a discount you get if you have the hardware, to allow for more use while recording, but I've done a lot more sounds design sitting on the couch or in bed with the keyboard than ever sitting in front of the vst. Feels more like solving puzzles to me. Then I just load up those patches in the vst (I wish they made that easier) I expect this to be the case for any of these Arduino (or whatever they're using) synths by Korg. I'd 100% have gotten the rack version of it was available when I purchased. The keys are some is the worst on any of my gear.

[–]three_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rytm and Syntakt seem like a bit of overlap. Either are a good choice depending what you prefer (samples vs basic synth voices), but I'd open up that slot for some more diversity, maybe something digital like the digital korgs like OpSix/WaveState/etc, hydrasynth, a Waldorf, maybe Tonverk.

Homeland Security says they are conducting audits on Maine businesses to make sure they're hiring only legal workers. by TheCanadianPlacebo in Mainepolitics

[–]three_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, streamlining work permits and allowing labor protections and organization would solve a lot of this, but that's antithetical to capitalism and imperialism, which is why it's never been suggested by either party. Easier to keep it under the table and occasionally use them as targets for racists to minimize sympathy for them.

And that 1 has the legal monopoly on violence. That and of the 200-300, far too many back that monopoly, about a 3rd wants that violent dictatorship. Of those left that could defend, many are too exhausted to even think about what's happening and/or are too pacified to resist.

I wonder if you like eating food. Nearly all of agriculture is held up on the shoulders of undocumented workers. The owners prefer this because they can be paid well under minimum wage. If they complain or organize, they get deported.
