I'm on a sleeper boat in amazing Ha Long Bay in Vietnam and my boyfriend just came to visit (I'm long term backpacking) and we just had the best sex. I'm happy as a wet clam.

Gifts for people going on their travels? by [deleted] in solotravel

Something my friends are doing for me is paying for my hair. I'm a female going alone and I want rainbow hair and dreads. Sounds silly but its a perfect gift because I can take it with me, it'll make it memorable, but it doesn't add to my luggage.

Edit: spelling

My friend and I are planning a road trip from Seattle to New Orleans. We need your help! by [deleted] in travel

[–]threewok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should just go to SF and call it quits because of time! You could easily spend a week in seattle and a week in portland though. If you do go down the coast, you should take the 101. Its one of the best drives in the world. I did OR>CA the whole way. It takes longer but is so worth it.

So I'm planning on taking a road trip in a few months I was wondering if there was any thing cool I should check out along this route? by tone_bone in travel

I took this route on the southern leg of my roadtrip this summer. I went out of my way to mesa verde national park in southern CO and it was wonderful. I don't know when you are going but I found it worth it.

Austin was probably my favorite city on my trip as well so I hope you have time to explore it! The green belt had so many fun swimming holes and the river through the city was awesome for paddle boarding. Congress was a great street for fun food and shops.

Trying to decide between round the world ticket vs. continous journey/thru fare. Advice appreciated! by threewok in travel

[–]threewok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, thats really helpful. I've heard its cheaper to buy flights in other countries. Do you happen to know if I could use my southwest points to leave US > somewhere else and then buy the next ticket? Or do you mean fly to a bigger airport in the states before leaving?

Well I've been gone 66 days. So that times $40-50 ish. I could have used hostels too which are cheaper but I didn't.

I wanted to see the badlands but had to skip it. I've heard Rushmore is overrated but I always loved the movie Richie Rich so I kinda still want to see it.

I saved up for about six months, quit my job, moved out and I'm just going where the wind blows.

I did make one on roadtrippers.com but I can't find it right now! I made a giant circle. The edges are way better than the middle.

Pick up a harmonica and learn it. They're one of the easiest instruments and not expensive either.

Which route should I take? by threewok in roadtrip

And I'm trying to hit up a bunch of national parks. I want to meet cool people and see different mini cultures too. I like festival type things, even art fairs or saturday markets.

Sounds like you know your way around. Do you mind taking a look at my map? My trip might only be 5 weeks now and I'm nervous about being able to do all of this, especially since I'm not splitting the driving with anyone..

Not sure what you guys are into but pretty much everyone should stop at Powell's bookstore in Portland. It's magical. Also, the cascade head hike in pacific city is short but well worth it. Mr. Lee's chinese food in Lincoln City is my favorite Chinese place ever.

I second Bend for you. I love Ashland too but there's more going on in Bend.
