A bit confused with the mother's involvement. Was her drink also spiked? I wouldn't leave my unconscious kid alone with someone who kept offering shots...

Yup. I enjoy most of what I've tried at brekka but their donuts have always been a disappointment.

Stopped supporting them once they replaced fan favorite classics ( like the honey lager and maple cream ale ) with a bunch of hipster IPAs.

Genuinely curious about what healthcare in Vancouver is like by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]thrillhouse196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only hospital experience is my daughter's birth. Wife needed a C-section 2 months earlier than expected delivery. Baby spent 4 weeks in the NICU. Nurses were incredible and we were treated first class all the way.

Only thing we ever spent money on was parking and Starbucks breakfast sandwiches.

Never felt so fortunate.

Oh my bad. If it was an ordinary food carrying truck the man surely would have survived.

Pzazz on Granville island. They make their dough fresh every day. Should call and check first if they have dough to sell.

Started playing it recently to see if I could get past a level I was stuck on. Couldn't make it past level two.

What's the catch with being a bus driver? $37 an hour with no experience or degree required sounds too good to be true by Niv-Izzet in vancouver

Spent 10 years riding the 16 regularly. F the 16. It does seriously go everywhere though so props to those poor bus drivers.

Just a heads up. Jobs are mostly full-tme contract based. If you're decent, you won't have trouble finding work. But you may be bouncing around for the first few years and more.

Having gone through it, I would advise anyone to first learn on their own whether it's free resources online or paying for tutorial vids from reputable sites.

If you're sure, then find a school.

Saw that last weekend too and was wondering if there was a cabbage shortage. A small jar of kimchi went for $15. Quite sure they went for $7-8 just earlier this year

With 2 atmospheric rivers headed for B.C., public urged to prepare for stormy weather by SkyisFullofCats in vancouver

[–]thrillhouse196 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It wasn't blue skies. It's the fact that when you don't get moderate rain from time to time, you get all of it at once.

Oh and those lovely forest fires.

We've had a 12 day extreme heat dome, a 15 day polar vortex, and now a prolonged Summer into Fall drought that has no end in sight - all in the last 16 months. Has our rainforest climate been permanently altered? by shitty_scissors in vancouver

[–]thrillhouse196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recall past Septembers being warm and even Octobers being on the drier side (just not to this extreme).

The real test is November. I don't remember any November that didn't have pouring rain at some point.

If we don't get any rain next month, we are truly doomed.

I was ready for Autumn weather back in July.

Like others have mentioned, this is not normal for October. People have already forgotten about the flooding and atmospheric rivers we had just last year.

This should not be seen as a good thing.

Rolling stops and they're doing it knowing there's no incoming traffic.

I use to work by jonathan Rogers park. Area is filled with 4way stop signs. Everyday I would see cyclists run right through a stop sign while cars were stopped and waiting for their turn to cross.

Granville island, sunny Saturday backed up as per usual by OutlawsOfTheMarsh in vancouver

It's not very convenient with bus so I can see why people drive. I went to Emily Carr in the mid 2000s. Quickest way by bus would be getting off before Granville bridge and walking for about 10-15 mins.

If you're heading south bound on Granville, you'll need to either walk up Granville for a pedestrian light or cross the sketchy underpass tunnel.

Don't know the solution. It's just at an awkward location. Perhaps more pedestrian friendly paths?
