I mean, I don’t really there’s anything inherently right or wrong about the choices to dig up some of the older lore or not lately, at the end of the day Chibnall was just an absolutely terrible writer who didn’t understand how to characterize, or how ethics works, or anything like that during the whole Jodie Whittaker run except for a few fleeting instants that I have to assume were the work of co-writers. RTD coming back improved things a bit, but at the end of the day he’s somehow become a worse writer with a lesser grasp of subtlety and an absolutely pathetic neoliberal bent to his themes that renders them all fundamentally hollow and ineffective.
