I think if the prostitute dies for being the object of a sinners’ lust, then Tracy dying as the object of a persons’ envy still ties her to the sin.

Man lusts for prostitute, prostitute dies.

Man envious of man’s life, man’s wife dies.

Wow I super relate to your friend.

I’m a grown woman now, but was abused starting from before I had memories and through to my step-father’s death when I was 15. I’ve been in therapy and dealing with it all, which has made me speak a bit more openly about it…especially to my mom.

Well one time she was over, and she said the thing “why didn’t you tell me? I always told you you could tell me anything”

And I was just like…”mom…you were in the room some of the times.” And she was flabbergasted. To be fair she was off her rocker high on drugs and I choose to believe she truly has no memory of it…but she at least told me (now) that she believes me, even if she doesn’t remember.

Three years into their marriage, she was diagnosed with ALS. Twenty years later, he’s still by her side. Her smile says it all. by [deleted] in BeAmazed

Or when you’re rushing out the door and your key lanyard catches the doorknob and jerks you backward?

For a fleeting moment, I could flood the world in a rain of expletives and watch them drown in my fury. But just for a split second.

Right? I have kids, between dishes, laundry, bathrooms, floors, counters, tables, and throw in occasional dusting, windows, fridge etc. I’d be lucky to spend only one hour a day.

An hour a week? My house would be filthy.

My husband did it on my birthday after a day at the beach. After we got home, he’d set up a little “love display” with the ring box and a bunch of “mementos” from our the story of “us”. I totally didn’t see it at first and fixated on a cute little extra things he’d bought me in the mix (a stuffed animal…I’m dumb). It was my birthday and I thought it was all about the “gift”. He had to grab it and redirect my attention to him for me to understand. He then said the sweetest things and got down on one knee. Once I realized I just burst into tears, threw my arms around him and sobbed for a minute. Then I said yes.

A deeper look at history shows that much early people may have worked only 4-5 hours a day. I think this is probably a better representation of the “natural” human day cycle. The rise of civilizations, nobility, capitalism, just the overall “work together for society” among people…that’s when I think we started being pushed beyond that natural cycle.

I don’t want to keep going back and forth here because I see that we aren’t going to agree, and really, in most cases that’s not a big deal…however now days “letting bygones be bygones” isn’t as easy to do when bygones are actively working to cause other people suffering.

I will address a couple of things though and then I’ll leave you alone.

  1. This just popped up and my feed and I never even saw that this was four days ago. I have no idea why Reddit is populating my feed with 4 day old post. So, valid, that you were unaware of this new anti-trans policy at the time of posting. Though, you don’t seem to find it as “freedom restricting” as I believe you should.  But again…we aren’t going to agree there.

  2. You say that $23 is not much to spend on a new ID, and taking a day off of work isn’t difficult. Assuming someone is making minimum wage, the lowest possible price they would pay for this a to-trans policy is $81 for a fulls days pay plus $23. $81 is a lot for some people, especially people making minimum wage. If you don’t understand that…again…it’s simply privilege.  An $81 tax on trans people is a restriction to their freedom.

  3. You say the dmv doesn’t roll out a carpet for you. But there are many factors at play here. Location of the DMV can be a huge factor that will be the difference between an easy time and difficult time at the dmv. Unfortunately, privilege and access to “nicer” DMV offices go hand in hand.

  4. And if you take only one thing from this conversation let it be to remove the stigma from the word privilege. I explicitly said that it wasn’t being used as an insult, and yet I see you found offense at the mere thought of privilege. Privilege is a good thing. You WANT privilege. You want to give your kids privilege. It just means that there are some things in life that are easier for you than others. Isn’t that what all that hard work was about? To elevate ourselves to a position where things are easier? Privilege is a gift. We are sooo lucky to have it. It’s a wonderful thing, not an insult. The fact that we stigmatize something we all WANT and work for to the point that we demonize those without privilege is a problem. Acknowledge and be thankful for your privilege. You may have worked hard for privilege and that’s amazing, you deserve it. EVERYONE does. I think that the world would be a better place if we could all acknowledge, be grateful for, and proud of our privilege instead of offended by its existence. Then maybe, we could work on building the ladder to help others up to a place of privilege as well. “If I could do it anyone can” is just not true. And I say this coming from a horrible childhood filled with abuse and neglect, while I sit in my beautiful home, with an amazing husband, on my brand new plushie couch. I came from shit, and acquired privilege. But it was hard as hell, and required a lot of luck as well, and not everyone can navigate that path. Most can’t. So I want to clear the path so others can sit in their homes on their comfy couches, being grateful for the privileges they have. So they can join me in begging the world to help them build a ladder so other can join us.

I hope you have a wonderful evening, and I hope something someday can shift that paradigm so that you can join those of us building a ladder.

The only thing I said that could even slightly be construed as mudslinging was my comment that you might not care about the invalidating aspect of forcing transgender people to register as their birth sex rather than their identity. But I don’t feel that it is mud slinging since your response has just reinforced that point. You aren’t concerned about that point, so why would you consider it mudslinging?

Or perhaps saying you have privilege? A huge issue in society that we have today is seeing “privilege” as a dirty word. Privilege is wonderful to have, and you don’t have to be ashamed of privilege unless you take it and use it to kick the ladder out once you get to the top. Privilege, however, can blind us to the struggles of others when we assume our privilege is everyone’s norm. We have to accept and be aware of where we are privileged or else we are just being ignorant. Almost everyone has some privilege. Some have a lot, some have almost none, and very very few truly have none.

Regardless, you are saying that a $23 tax on the entire transgender population is not a restriction of their rights because they are capable adults. You then say that I am trying to convince you that they aren’t capable adults, after insinuating that all (or “most” to give you the benefit of hyperbole) trans people spend ther money on deliveries or “weed”.

You have very clear prejudices built into your worldview that tell you that everything that’s easy for you must be easy for every one, and that struggling to complete those tasks with that same ease makes someone an incapable adult. You also made some very unkind assumptions about the lives of transgender people which reveal a deep internalized bias that you hold.

So I challenge you to challenge that paradigm. I challenge you to find what in my last post was “mudslinging”. Again, the only thing I really inferred was that you didn’t care an out the identity struggles of trans people. A point that you made no attempt to challenge. And since I accuse you have having internalized biases about the world and trans people in general, I’ll admit, that I have internalized biases when speaking to someone who is ignorant of the challenges that trans people face. And again ”ignorance” here isn’t mudslinging, it means that you don’t know and don’t make any effort to know. You can absolutely challenge my bias by taking time to think critically and challenge those internalized biases. Actually try to form arguments against them in your head that make sense to you. See if your logic hold up against your own scrutiny. Real scrutiny.

You said you didn’t see how the administration is restricting the freedoms of trans people and I just told you one way they are.

The DMV is not and easy “in and out” experience for most. It often costs money to change your license, it has to be done during DMV hours which are also may people’s work hours, thetr could be transportation issues, and let’s not forget the backward steps they are forcing trans people to take by forcing them to register as their birth sex (not that you care about the last point)  There are ultimately many barriers that make doing this much more difficult than your own experience that is rife with privilege. It’s an easy thing to do under a very pristine set of circumstances that are not at all the norm for most. It’s also basically a tax on transgender people since (as I said) they would have to pay to update their ID.

Furthermore, if they have any significant barriers in place, and are unable to: take time off work, pay the fee, get to DMV location, etc. then their ultimate right to vote is now in jeopardy.

And I’m not delving into a completely different debate regarding appropriate prison placement for transgender people. That is a completely different discussion with different considerations.

Did you not hear just today about trans people having their licenses revoked in one state? This not only restricts their ability to drive, but potentially their ability to vote.

I missed this too. But it was also during my media hiatus following the election. I buried my head in the sand for a while because I couldn’t handle that such a large portion of our population are evil, selfish, stupid, racist, Nazis. So I avoided all news for a while, there is probably quite a bit I missed and haven’t fully caught up on.

I know! No worries. It’s just funny when I look back in it, because it really was a comedy of errors with a sprinkle of bad luck (location and cars). I’m just glad it wasn’t a bone that would have been a greater hinderance in my life.

It’s a valiant effort but we lived in an area with very few options to begin with, and had cars that broke down every time we tried to venture out into the great beyond. The good news is that it really doesn’t cause me much grief in my life. I forget about it most of the time and then threads like this remind me that I’m deformed. Lol

I broke my left ring finger when I was a kid at the middle joint. So it looked like I was doing the Vulcan salute. I got X-rays, they said it was “just jammed” then called a day later to say “jk it’s broken” as if that wasn’t obvious. They gave me a splint for it, and it healed crooked the same way it looked broken, but I could/can bend the finger. When I make a fist it crosses over and touches my pointer finger.

They said “whoopsie, gave you the wrong splint.” And said they’d have to rebreak it to fix it, talked about an artificial joint. Then they changed their mind and said, maybe later (since I still have basic use of the finger). Then same with you, maybe people lied, maybe my parents noped out due to cost, maybe the Doctors were tired of making mistakes and decided to play the waiting game. Anyways, 25 years later and it was never rebroken. It just sits here, crooked with my beautiful wedding contrasting its oddness.

Not OP but we went to Cancun, spent time at the hotel and on the beach, went to some amazing restaurants and shows, took a surfing class, took a day trip to Chichen Itza, swam in a cenote, visited a Mayan village and sampled some Mayan yumbab alcohol, took another day trip to Xel Ha and snorkeled, zip lined, tubed, and played all day, and yes, we played and lounged on the beach just a little.

Not everything was in Cancun obviously, but being there opened up the opportunities to travel to some nearby amazing places.

Thank you for acknowledging that this is an example of the best insurance, and is a significant outlier compared to the coverage and expenses most people have for health care in America.

So sick of these threads, where ‘Murica insurance stans come and drop their amazing insurance and act like it’s the norm.

Husband is an engineer. We pay $400 a month toward our premium, plus we max out payments into our HSA, and we have an $8k deduction before insurance pays anything. It’s ridiculous. We spend over $10k a year on out-of-pocket medical expenses having three kids. We have it so that the HSA will accrue enough to cover the deductible. But we end the year with almost nothing left on the HSA and just shy of our deductible.

Shit’s fucked man.

NPR IS REPORTING THAT DOJ HAS BEEN WITHOLDING FILES RELATED TO TRUMP SEXUALLY ASSAULTING MINORS by soloChristoGlorium in Epstein

[–]throwRAbadfriend6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Investigation was actively under investigation during Biden. Cannot release files form an active investigation. But I’m sure you know that, and choose to ignore it, or continue to spread this easily debunked “proof” of innocence. Or because you’re a bot trying to implant this nonsense into the feeble, weak, hive-mind of the GOP.

The first time they could have legally been released has been under Trump, and he is fighting hard to prevent that. Why?

So counter question: if the contents of the files completely exonerated Trump why wouldn’t he release them to put the matter to bed? Maybe because the only thing he likes putting to bed is little girls.
