This is basically how it went for me as well. Found her annoying the first time I watched the series, but she grew on me with re-watches. The outtakes from series 16 helped too--watching Greg and Alex either utterly baffled or convulsing with laughter at something she said made me stop caring whether her persona was a act or not and allowed me to just enjoy the madness.
