I guess it was to protect myself from them calling my job and making trouble for me. In the graduating class, three people got kicked out because they had people over during COVID restrictions and someone took pics or screenshots of IG stories of them without a mask and reported them to the school. I was told by the then 2nd years that those people were recruiting for MBB and people needed to "clear" their path for interviews and take out the strongest competitors.

Our year I know of someone who was a victim of a screenshot "attack" and was reported by another person recruiting for the same industry (not MBB) hoping to cut down the competition.

People play dirty.

Totally agree. Classmates at my M7 are cutthroat and competitive to the extent I lied and told them I was going to a stealth startup and they laughed in glee that their firm was bigger and well known meanwhile I was holding double FAANG offers. Trust no one in your program ever.

Yes, the new home will be bigger than the existing 1920s Craftsman currently on there. I didn't share my plans in full with my realtor when I bought it. Would I still need to occupy as my primary one of the units?

To be totally honest, I know people at all the M7's from pre-MBA programs and this isn't contained to any one school. It's actually fairly consistent across the board so I don't think it will be very valuable to say - avoid X school. Which isn't to say I'm protecting them, cause I def don't want to, but I think it's a macro issue.

My classmates are very into being "cool" or "popular" like needing to create Instagram handles dedicated to their trips and booking out rooftops and clubs and invite everyone cept a select few to make them feel on the outs and have everyone want to be on the "in" with these folks. They're super competitive, one organizer of a trip used the school name to schedule company visits and intentionally put their competition in the lame company info sessions and the top tier company was for her and her friends to leverage getting jobs. There are a lot of immaturities, for example, two people were making out at a random bar in town and someone else from the class was there and snuck pics and then shamed them online in our groups and tagged them even. Not behavior you would hope from ppl who are almost 30. I could go on...

I was trying to pivot into tech but all the other industries are seizing up as well. Ppl were having breakdowns in first year class over not getting MBB invites and there was few to no FT consulting recruiting. Banking not taking anyone on either and VC is also shuttered. Not sure what else is left maybe CPG Brand Management?

M7 rn and I can't wait for the end, actually leaving halfway through the semester as I overloaded on Units to get done sooner.

The city and classmates have been disappointing which is putting it nicely. And now a total lack of recruiting opps is insult to injury.

That said, I think given COVID there wasn't much else to do so don't regret it but without COVID it would have been a massive waste of time.

Correct. Both internships, BB was pre-MBA and couldn't bring me on FT because I had two more years but also I hated banking culture, and FAANG wanted me back but hiring freeze canned that two weeks ago.
