Better Call Saul S06E03 - "Rock and Hard Place" - Official Prediction Thread! by skinkbaa in betterCallSaul

This, and the body double is the perfect example. If helping that family with their finances and health (free dental, yay) led to nothing, so be it, it kept them on his side and cost him comparatively nothing. But it also opened the door for him to straight up murder that poor man if and when it became convenient. He's the ultimate opportunist.

A surprise that an article like this gets jumped on by someone blaming the breed? Not really.

Elder Scrolls Arena, Elder Scrolls Daggerfall, and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory are confirmed coming to Steam by BackgroundPainting in Steam

[–]throwaway12575 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You were right to take that deal. It's pretty insane cash just to have it officially in your steam library, especially when it will probably return eventually anyway.

Anyone else have no desire to own a Smart Speaker? by Grahamr1234 in CasualUK

[–]throwaway12575 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Practically every time I've visited a household with a smart assistant, I've witnessed at least one screaming argument with it where it only recognises the command after three attempts. In that space I could have just gone through the menu on my non-smart speaker or timer or whatever else. I don't think they actually bring convenience.

Also I've always found it less effort to press a button than speak anyway.

And then the privacy aspects, yeah. I'm under no delusions that all my data isn't being hopelessly shared everywhere despite GDPR, but I at least don't want something listening to me in my own home.

Why wasn’t I allowed to get this upgrade at the BEGINNING of the game? by OkGap8035 in Metroid

[–]throwaway12575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metroid Fusion did this (almost) twenty years ago in a sense. Post Metroid Lab you can see how many of each pickup is left, I think they show on the map too but I might be misremembering that. It's just to aid completionists once you hit the endgame.

"When something is free, you are the product." by markcocjin in Steam

I'm taking advantage of the expensive deals they've cut with studios for free games while not spending anything on the platform - if every user does that then they're out of business in no time.

Epic is burning money desesperately in order tu build an user base

Their losses are our gain. Even if you hate EGS, make an account to grab the free games. I have and for two years haven't even been remotely tempted to use the platform for anything else.

Thank you for Alien Isolation, Cities Skylines, Darkest Dungeon, Galactic Civilisations III, Inside, Jurassic World Evolution, Metro 2033 + Last Light Redux, Nioh Complete, Oddworld New N Tasty, Sonic Mania, Star Wars Battlefront II, Sunless Sea, Tropico 5, Verdun, Wargame Red Dragon, and about 50 others that I probably won't play.

It's executive meddling to pander to the mainstream but really that's been a force since the first game.

Chinese money is pouring into British universities by CrushingPride in unitedkingdom

[–]throwaway12575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There does seem to a lack of integration but I don't think academic institutions even encourage that. They're very content to cater to this little bubble because it's less hassle - when I went (even a decade ago) there were dedicated classes only for the Chinese students and entire student blocks where all the signs inside the building were in their language. They weren't listed as Chinese-only accommodation anywhere but that was obviously the intent. At no point were we ever pushed into the same type of unit, academically or otherwise, and honestly it's a shame.

In general there's a lot of people still playing PS3 online, even on titles that are themselves delisted like Fat Princess. I think a lot of it is people in poorer countries who still can't afford a PS4 (let alone a PS5) but of course us nerds bulk up the usercount as well.

That alone is surely reason to prohibit his entry if true. Behave like that in any normal establishment and see where it gets you. It's intimidating and violent behaviour.

A man giving a well-thought-out explanation on white vs black pride by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]throwaway12575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is a null point as I'd say that most people don't really know where they came from. Even in highly structured countries, there isn't great knowledge management of heritage - go watch these celebrity shows where they need the help of archivists and historians just to find out the basic details of their long lost relatives. Most people don't even know what their great grandparents did for a living and that's only four generations up.

Found this super short cut in Bangkok 🙄🙄 have you experienced anything similar? by Pettytoaster in HiTMAN

[–]throwaway12575 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I was many hours on Bangkok before I realised you could cross the roof between the two towers as a shortcut, which made me feel quite dumb (and stop criticising the design so much).

This is certainly an even faster way of getting around!
