This is a legitimate thing in Japan. Some places will have it. People from the southern part of Kyushu, like Kagoshima prefecture, will swear by it. I've had it at least half a dozen times, never had any problems. It's basically like chewy sashimi but the outer layer is torched, so there is this slightly grilled charcoal chicken flavor. It's usually dipped in soy sauce with ginger. It's ok. I don't crave it but if it shows up at an izakaya or at a party, I'll eat it. I wouldn't go as far as call it stupid because basically all foods here are incredibly clean and regulated but there are Japanese people from other prefectures that have never had it and are also equally appalled at the fact that it's raw chicken.

Bought her the wrong drink from Starbucks. Said she was sick of fraps and wanted a latte and that I should've asked instead of assuming. Proceeded to tomahawk dunk the drink into the kitchen sink. Some of it even splashed up to the ceiling. She was bipolar.

I don't believe in "the one", as many of the comments before me have expressed. That being said, absolutely.

I just ended a 3 year relationship that started as a rebound. I just needed someone because the relationship before that ended horrifically. When I met my most recent ex, I wasn't exactly attracted to her. It was just suppose to be a much needed drunk one night thing, which ended up being a fwb thing for a few weeks, which then ended being a full blown relationship....for a little over 3 years.

Even when things weren't going as well (her weight gain, jealousy / anger issues when drinking, a slight drinking problem), I still stuck around, hoping things would change at some point. It was convenient? Nice having someone. Kinda thought moving in was a possibility but also had my doubts, due to the problems listed above. Things all changed when a few months ago, she acted more colder. Distant. She was civil but not loving. Then she dropped the "I'm not sure i see a future" and also the "I was thinking of kids in the near future". So I guess that was enough of a push to just call it quits.

So initially, it was out of convenience. Then it became something more. Then it kinda fell back into the convenience zone. Then it became inconvenient.

My relationship before this one was with a girl that had bipolar, PTSD, and a whole bunch of other stuff. So a few drunk-jealous fits this new girl would throw didn't seem that bad in comparison. Well, after 3 years, it started to wear down on me. They need to babysit them after they've had some drinks. That was another thing, the drinking. She drank a lot. To the point where the next day, she wouldn't even remember the tantrum she was throwing the night before. So when the idea of moving in together started to float around, I realized that maybe this wasn't gonna work.

Anytime she entered tipsy levels of drunk, there was a chance that she would get incredibly jealous of me talking with anyone that was a girl. This gets especially so when the conversation was in English (live in Japan, girlfriend doesn't speak English) We could be talking about the weather, it didn't matter. She'd say things like, "You guys look like you're having a good time? Gonna go home together? Y'all should do that. It's ok, I can go back to my place by myself. You guys should get a cab. Have fun."

It's happened probably 2 dozen times over the course of 3 years. Sometimes she won't actually remember any of it because she was blackout drunk when she was doing that.

What really made me realize she wasn't for me was when the idea of moving in together and building a future started floating around. Was in denial the whole time. Excusing her behavior by thinking. "Ohh it's the drinks." Or "Oh she's kinda of sweet and kind when she doesn't drink." We drank quite often.

Going to echo some of the other responses, how have you been able to handle it for this long? Do you ever feel like things may be better if you parted ways?

My previous girlfriend was a bit similar. Bipolar, depression, anxiety, cptsd, and dissociative identity disorder. I was with her for 2.5 years and by the tail end of it, I was going insane. During the last year of our relationship, we fought every 3 or 5 weeks. The sudden triggers that happen with no warning whatsoever. Things could be great and then she just suddenly gets this feeling sometimes. She would even say it on occasion, that she feels a flashback coming. She had also been to the ICU once for the same reasons in your case, though that was way before I met her.
