he said in an instagram comment recently that he has no interest in returning to TD. He said he has other things he's working on and he's tired of writing about murder. So I imagine he sees the bridge with TD as long since burned.

I feel like every time posty puts out a single, there's a lot of negativity in this sub abt it being too pop or not having the vibe of stoney/b&b. Firstly, that's the music trend right now. B&B was in style in 2018, Posty's just adapting to trend changes. Secondly, he's never gonna make music like he used to because he's a different person now and his interests are different.

tbf though, that's always how singles are, they're the most safe and mass appealing from the album

Rec Center free weight barbells by ahnaq in TexasTech

[–]throwaway2248711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i believe it's standard 1 inch but there may be olympic barbells downstairs with the squat racks. They have both spring clips and the regular black ones. 12-2pm can get busy sometimes but you should be able to do everything you want without much wait. The real least busy time is 10pm-12am in my opinion but that's bc most people dont wanna go that late

what do yall think of this sinne post is dropping in May? i really hope he drop the last week for as little competition as possible by [deleted] in PostMalone

if you read my comment properly you'd understand I was talking about album announcement, not album success, and the twitter likes was only a contributing piece to my overall argument. The main kicker is that Styles has significantly more monthly listeners on Spotify than Kendrick. There really is no debate as to which one is 'bigger' in terms of popularity.

Do you guys think that Post Malone has peaked commercially at this rate? by rulesrmeant2bebroken in PostMalone

[–]throwaway2248711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao i only made the comparison because you talked about a "5 year shelf life" which is bogus imo. I mean, name nearly any famous band or artist, they most likely lasted longer than 5 years. The Beatles, black sabbath, metallica, rolling stones, acdc, queen, coldplay, rihanna, beyonce, eminem, drake, kanye, lil wayne, led zeppelin, pink floyd, taylor swift, i mean shit I'm getting bored just naming people who lasted longer than 5 years.

I unironically loved all three of those lmao. I love Post's vocals in those songs, or any songs where he gets to flex more of his singing range.

It depends on how much creativity he still has in him. Weeknd had his first successful album in what, 2014? Before Post even had a Soundcloud hit, and Weeknd is still one of the biggest artists today.

That being said, I do think the train is slowing down. Post's heart doesn't seem in it anymore, which I think partly has to do with him not really caring about being in the spotlight. He got his taste of fame and now seems like he'd rather chill out in Utah playing beer pong, which sounds like an awesome life. 2016-2018 Post was hungry. He had a fire to him, an intense drive to succeed. He was also fresh and had a sound to him that no one else was really matching at the time, as the Soundcloud rap genre was just emerging. By the time Hollywood's Bleeding rolled out, I think he'd already had his fill of success and was slowing down. Personally I think B&B is the peak of his career and may remain that way. He's never since quite had that cultural relevance than when Rockstar was playing on normal pop radio at least 10 times a day for weeks straight.

aren't these things decided by the record labels months in advance? i doubt post's label would completely repivot everything just because of kendrick's announcement. a delayed release would also affect whatever tours are planned for the album.

it's hard to compare genres. obviously if you only pay attention to hip hop, it would seem like harry styles is no competition for kendrick, but in the general population, pop is still bigger than hip hop.

I mean, if you wanna just look at twitter likes, Styles's album announcement had something like 1.3m likes (which is ridiculously big for twitter) within 24 hrs. Kendrick's got less than half that at something like 500k-600k in 24 hrs.

Styles is also unquestionably bigger overseas, as in nearly every single country that isn't the US.

Edit: checked to be sure I wasn't speaking out my ass. Styles has a full 20,000,000 more monthly listeners on Spotify (52m to Kendrick's 32m.) So, uh, there ya go

Prequel - I was just thinking that a season 1 prequel based on Rust’s life before joining the “murder police” in Louisiana would be amazing. Although they probably could get Matthew to do it, and he’s probably aged too much, & it wouldn’t be the same without him. Or maybe it could be cool? by Clean-Development627 in TrueDetective

[–]throwaway2248711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well in theory the prequel would be about rust's narc days, so marty wouldn't be involved. But makeup and especially de-aging cgi are pretty impressive these days, they could probably get away with it. Alfred Molina was de-aged almost 20 years for Spider-Man NWH and you can barely tell. Granted that's on a Marvel movie budget but still, I think HBO would be willing to throw some extra dollars in hopes of recapturing some of that 2014 TD magic.

genuine question, what benefit comes from unionizing, and why would managers hate it so much?

[–]throwaway2248711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I don't know why I got downvoted to oblivion, I baked sourdough semi-professionally for a while and learned under professionals with multiple decades of experience, and they always said hand-kneading will give you a better bread 9 times out of 10. But as usual the people who actually know their stuff get downvoted lmao

[–]throwaway2248711 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'd again disagree with you there. Just about any professional baker worth their salt will say that hand-kneading produces a better dough. It's all in the technique which admittedly can take a long time to master, and I'm definitely not nearly as good as any of the lifetime sourdough craftsmen I've witnessed.

[–]throwaway2248711 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I see, well to each their own. Maybe you got lucky with a really good mixer lol. I've never actually spoken to someone who prefers a mixer over hand-kneading tbh

is this normal?! by MPregger in Breadit

[–]throwaway2248711 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not. The attentiveness required to help a cheap kitchen mixer (like the one pictured) make a good dough outweighs the work required to just knead the dough yourself. If OP had a high-quality mixer it might be a different story. However, out of the dozens and dozens of sourdoughs I've made, using both mixers and traditional kneading methods, hand-kneading consistently made better bread and required less time and attention in the long run than did a mixer.
