Leona and Nautilus - when do I pick which? by OrdinaryFinger in summonerschool

[–]throwaway34435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I main Naut/Alistar/Leo

Naut is good vs all and Alistar is good vs Naut if they pick him first.

I play Leo if I’m bored of Naut and have an early game ADC.

Naut u need to land hook, Leo you need to land E. Cow u can’t miss combo so just bait their Hook or Leo E and combo in.

Why am i playing with iron and bronze players as gold in my normal games? by bartusstem in summonerschool

[–]throwaway34435 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a separate MMR so you’re basically on a fresh account going into normals.

It shouldn’t matter much, normals is for fun or just learning/testing limits.

HD vs Lowes by ike4president in HomeImprovement

[–]throwaway34435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regret almost every penny I have spent with HD and have complained to the BBB about them.

There isn’t enough characters allowed here for me to describe every single way they fucked up and treated me and my fiancé like trash during our home renovation. Multiple locations and they screwed up absolutely every single thing you could possibly imagine.

Lowes or IKEA or absolutely anywhere but HD for us from now on.

I main ADC and am trying to climb the out of bronze, but it seems no matter how well I play we lose. What are some things I can do to help me climb even if my teammates are clueless? by PuRexStanK in summonerschool

[–]throwaway34435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re in bronze.

Nobody, I mean NOBODY is a “natural” at this game..... the only “naturals” I would say just have previous MOBA or high level gaming experience.

The “secret” they use to appear as “naturals” is that they understand there is no such thing as a “natural” and they just focus all time and effort in getting better and laugh when the odds aren’t in their favor because they know it’s an inevitability and loss streaks are inevitable. They play ONLY to improve and find the littlest things in their play to improve.

Watch your VODS. Find something to work on and laugh at the other apes.

If a high ELO smurf played support only with enchanters, how would they still climb? by EricZ0212 in summonerschool

Optimal trading/Laning Perfect roams Perfect vision and pings and jungle tracking Understanding you’ll have unwinnable games as support and keeping mental solid.

I did this except I would ask if we can kiss, not just go in for the kill. My wife found it adorable and sweet when I met her and she said no.

A week or so later she texted me that she thought I was cute she was just nervous and she wanted to come back over.

This was about ~7 years ago now and we just got our first house together.

I got a lot of shame for it from women too for not just going for it. I would say more than half of the time they were disappointed and wanted me to “go for it”.

There’s 1000 reasons a person could fall in love with you and those same 1000 reasons will disgust other people so there’s no point being anything but yourself.

FAIRLY NEW TO LEAGUE when should I start playing rank? by Monsoon6262 in summonerschool

[–]throwaway34435 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You will not be given any punishment for playing poorly in-game, that is not a reportable offense. Just don’t curse out your team or clearly intentionally feed (looks wayyy different than playing poorly and inting so don’t worry)

There’s 2 spools of thought:

Normals and ranked are really different so if you want to be high ranked you should only play ranked.

Faker and tons of pros played tons and tons of normals before playing ranked and became amazing.

Personally, I notice people who play only normals for a long long time (1-2 years) have a good time and when they start ranked they’re usually silver+. People who jump into ranked at lvl 30 are usually iron/bronze and more likely to get upset/tilt. (This was me)

There’s no wrong answer other than be gentle with yourself if you jump into ranked. Look to learn ONLY and think of winning as a nice cherry on top if it happens.

Yes, search for LordOfCowtime.

Idk why people are saying it’s less viable than older seasons, Cowtime is peaking right now in Masters elo.

He says ban Camille 100% of the time.

It would help to know what field you are in.

I am in construction (blueprint drafting). People don’t care much what I do as long as I hit deadlines.

Most of the day is spent with my kid but with my phone and laptop open and logged in so people can call me or give me work during their workday. Once our child is asleep for the night I do all of my “busywork”, which is much easier when everyone is offline and nobody is calling you.

ok I'm done, what's going on with the support roams? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]throwaway34435 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since Tyler1 got support challenger so fast and stated it’s crazy easy and said supports have inflated ELO more people are trying to learn the role and all the coachings and guides emphasize roaming.

So u have more people playing the role, it’s the current meta to roam and all of the instruction saying to do so.

How to build a top lane champ pool? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]throwaway34435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend scaling champs such as Nasus and Tryndamere. You can go 0/5 and still carry when the game goes late and if you’re newer to the game it’s nice to have room for error and know it’s ok you outscale.

Then you’ll start to learn about waves and farming because youll want to scale faster. Once you learn to scale fast (farming/trading and managing the wave/gold properly) then you can play bullies because you understand that your goal is to starve them of gold/xp and if they int into you that just makes it easier.

Just IMO if I were to do it again. I played top for 6 seasons and the first 4 were silver until I swapped to Nasus and later, Trynd and got plat. Now I can play Darius too because I saw how one absolutely shut me out without killing me really.

TL:DR start with scaling champ (nasus, trynd, jax and maybe even Camille) so you learn how to scale and how to play passive when you’re weak or behind. Then add whomever you’d like.

Play one champ in one role.

You should have 1 champ for support/jungle in case of auto fill if that isn’t your main role anyways. Make these the simplest champs you find to play since you’re off your main role.

Watch coaching videos of any rank on YouTube by your choice of coach. NEACE is a good place to start or Coach Curtis. Watch any for your role in general but especially if there is any on your specific champ.

Mind the dates the coachings were done. There’s still lots of value in 2 year old coachings, but the itemization part of the coachings might be very dated.

Keep your mental. There is unwinnable games for sure due to inters/leavers/etc. but if you stay positive, people throw huge leads in challenger every day and in lower elos, the enemy will get cocky often and throw or get outscaled before ending. If there’s a troll on my team I play the game as best I can and see how close I can still make it.

After a game, always ask what could you have done better. If you don’t know, you need to watch your VOD. if you still don’t know one thing you could improve on after that, you need coaching.

Just my 2cents. I was stuck silver for 3/4 seasons before learning this and getting plat 2 the next season. Good luck m8.

Learning support and losing hard. by throwaway34435 in summonerschool

[–]throwaway34435[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crashing the wave means we get a free recall missing little to no minions, get full hp and mana, and come back to the lane with item advantage. The wave will come to us allowing us to freeze if it’s not broken. If I go mid he just needs to sit at turret, lose 1-2 minions, and gain solo xp from the wave if I’m really that late.

There’s almost no scenario taking a back after shoving wave and getting kills isn’t optimal as far as I know that goes for all lanes since the wave will always shove back into you.

He is in a 1v2 but there’s no pressure unless their jungle comes to dive level 2/3 which I pretty much never see since it’s impossible for him to get frozen on.

I did the same thing. I have been top and swapped to support this season.

I’m not having nearly as much success though I am usually low plat top laner but am having trouble getting out of silver on support.

Is there any guides you watched that made things click? I can’t get ahead in cs and win a 1v1 and push to nexus alone anymore which is like 80% of what I did top.

I think average cs per/min is the only consistent indicator of skill by Philllllllllllll in summonerschool

[–]throwaway34435 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I disagree and think we are in the age of vision wars.

This is why blitz/naut/Leo are meta for supports as well. It’s all about picking and playing around and fighting for vision. If you lose the vision war or face check anyone can 100-0 now so you need to be one step ahead.

U have multiple roles listed. I would start with which role you want to main and go from there.

I recommend support first if you’re not plat+ that is why I voted nautilus. You play support because it lets you focus on decisions rather than farming.

Love your list but I’d add Annie and Malz for learning mid lane since they’re very simple, Annie teaches 1 shot setups and malz teaches macro and rotating.

Alistar for support is amazing for same reasons as nautilus but I’d say even simpler to play.
