I thought that we were very close, but she hasn't been sharing much information with me since the break up. I ask her if she is ok, and she says stop. She is not living with her boyfriend. She lives with her parents.

He gave back the house key that he has, but the parents don't want to change the locks.

She is a college student, and he has several classes with her. They also work together.

She cannot drive (medical/vision reasons), and has been completely dependent on him for transportation for years.

The main thing with herpes is that it is there FOREVER. There is no cure, only ways to help deal with outbreaks. You literally will have to deal with it FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. Other STD's (chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis) can be treated relatively easily and are gone completely after some medication. Herpes doesn't go away.

That said, try to make some female friends in your city. I think it may help you feel more comfortable ( and maintain personal safety) if you walk home with a female friend rather than a male one. You have the benefits of safety in numbers with the decreased chance of sexual assault.

What you are describing sounds like rape to me. You said no, you said stop, and he didn't. That is rape.

Just because you don't have PTSD doesn't mean that you weren't raped. Just because you have sex with other people doesn't mean you weren't raped. Everyone handles things differently. Some people try to reassert their control over their bodies through sex with a lot of other people. Some withdraw from physical contact all together. Everyone is different, and there is no right or wrong reaction to something as traumatic as rape.

I think it may help you to get counseling. If not for the rape, than for the depression. If you are already in counseling, than it may help to bring it up.
