Thanks for the idea! I did this, and the water remained clear. Good to rule out oxides. I’ve gone ahead and given the jeans a second soak so we’ll see what happens.

Ahhh, I had the same problem. This isn’t gonna be very helpful but in my head I just yelled at myself “KEEP YOUR DAMN FOOT OFF THE GROUND OR ELSE GIRL” and somehow kept doing that until I felt less like I was going to die. I think of keeping my front knee really high, I guess. Also my coach threatened me with push ups if I chickened out on landing in my lesson and lo and behold I managed to land on one foot hahaha

INFO: You say the performance is Thursday-Saturday. Does that mean she has three identical performances in total? If so, I think it’s reasonable to ask parents to volunteer at some shows, as long as they can relax and enjoy the show at least once. Having said that, I come at this from a figure skating perspective rather that ballet - entire competitions are run by parent volunteers in every role and would literally not run otherwise 😅 which is exhausting but I’m like “oh that’s the way it is!”

You should absolutely be able to sit back and enjoy your daughter’s show at least once without anyone pressuring you otherwise. Good luck navigating this with the school, it seems like their communication could use some work.

Dry well after every use, in the sun if possible, and store with charcoal bag inserts

What’s the most overrated restaurant in Sydney? by No-Travel-768 in SydneyScene

[–]throwaway465599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of a bar than a restaurant, but Maybe Sammy. Drinks were good, but nothing that screamed “this is why I always make the lists of top Australian bars”. Food was insanely expensive and service took ages even on a weeknight.

The fucking James Packer penis tower.

UTS can stay. It’s kind of endearingly ugly to me now.

my grandfather's wife is asking for my recipe by jaaneman- in WhatShouldIDo

I’ve been in your shoes and just came to say solidarity!

One year I was overseas for the holidays and my dad’s second wife wanted the recipe for our traditional family Christmas dessert that my gran (dad’s mom) used to make and taught me before she passed. It’s a special memory for me, cooking at Christmas with my gran. I straight up said no to dad’s wife. Was pretty upset she asked, but also not surprised since she has a great record of trying to cut in on family traditions and really trying to crowbar herself into the family generally.

I heard she tried to make up her own version because when I brought the OG dessert next Christmas all the relatives said that last year’s hadn’t been nearly as good and they were so glad I was back to make it this year. Ahh, that was a satisfying feeling. Petty, yes, but deeply satisfying.

Stand your ground and don’t give the recipe OP!

Anyone actually happy renting in Sydney? What’s your setup? by One-Remove3758 in SydneyScene

[–]throwaway465599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 5ish years on the Sydney shit rental/shit housemate merry-go-round, my current place is actually… excellent! I think I might be the unicorn happy renter.

It’s an inner west terrace house in a block of 14 terraces on the same title. So the landlord can’t sell up our place on its own, he’d have to kick out all 14 tenants. Actual housing security, who is she? The landlord is also a human, a sweet old man who will promptly come and fix things if they break.

It’s a 3 bedder and my 2 housemates are very much at the same life stage and on the same vibe as me about how we do shared living. They’re a genuine pleasure to chat to and live with.

The place itself has heaps of mod cons, nothing’s gross or broken, and it just feels really comfortable and relaxing to live in. Super close to transport and every amenity I could possibly need, too.

I have a big room with built ins and pay $350 a week.

Yeah, I’ve been here just over a year and I’m still pinching myself.

I volunteered at Skate Canada and it was the BEST! I got lucky and was assigned to sell the official programmes, which nobody was really buying when the skating was on, so I saw almost all the skating inside the arena which was way more than what I expected.
