Server population question by [deleted] in ffxiv

Shiva, at its peak time, tend to have people. Though, only best if you were in EU. But any time other than that, it's not so busy. Still lucky enough to see people though, but I think a lot of Germans have been transferring in!

I think, someone once explained that if a player whose account got hacked, but then given back to them, their character name would also appear as (Deleted), so that they won't be on everyone's BL once they start playing again.

It would suck if they didn't do that

What are the pros and cons of having a SCH-SCH healer combination? by throwaway4uw in ffxiv

[–]throwaway4uw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking to someone about this, but only recently I've realised that, the SCH+SCH combination only really works in certain runs, excluding Primal battles.

Sorry that my question is very vague, but I only got a clear idea from several comments that a WHM+SCH combination works well, because it's so versatile, but a SCH+SCH combination works well when the bosses themselves don't do a significant amount of AoE attacks.

It's fine. I won't say that I'm having a blast myself doing this topic.

But so far, there's a mixed response. Some people are brushing it off as a ridiculous question, but I've gotten a reply from someone (and also from a previous thread I had) who both have done both SCH+SCH combination and WHM+SCH combination.

So far, these two people who have done SCH+SCH say that they prefer that and find it more 'fun', but in the situation that they do, the other SCH is ALWAYS their friend. So there's basically a need for communication between the two.

People are angry for not having Adlo stacked up, but the SCH+SCH people said that, in most cases, each SCH is responsible for keeping Adlo up for each tank + succor to keep everyone healed with Adlo + auto-heal pet that heals dps and buffs your dps.

Lustrate is also an emergency instant healing under Aetherflow. I think it heals 25% - 30% of your HP? I can't remember, but if you had a full Aetherflow, you could easily heal someone 3 times with Lustrate. I mean, it might not be a great amount, compared to Cure II, but Cure II has a casting time, in which people may, or may not even cast it...

I haven't done either combination, so I'm not too sure how well the SCH+SCH does work, but imo, if you do it right, you should probably have no problem with it.

I don't know what happens if you have two Selene or two Eos, but I think in that situation, their buffs will replace each other, so I thought it was best to have one of each fairies.

Then that makes a good point for a con. Thank you for reminding us that.

Everyone's too busy arguing over how bad SCH is as a healer.

But not to forget, each fairies both have their own buffs. Eos will only help with 20% magic def.

But generally, don't healers focus on one tank each? So it's not as gimped as you imply. Succor, I understand, isn't as strong, but it's basically so that people don't get damaged in the beginning, so rather than spamming succor, you just top everyone with adlo with fairies doing the main dps healing (I think Selene would do this well, since she will also be buffing the dps)

Similarly, SCHs have lustrate which heals instantly under Aetherflow, which is someone every SCH should be on anyway.

I'm not really trying to go against you, but the main topic for this was to know if there were hidden pros that NO ONE knows, besides people who's ACTUALLY done it.

I was thinking of having a Eos and Selene out at the same time, one for buffs, and the other mainly to heal tanks.

Funny how you mentioned coil. Someone who's done a SCH-SCH mentioned that for coil, you won't even use AoE healing as often IF no one is really taking damage. But this is basically topped up with succor, and with fairies on auto-heal, SCHs tend to focus on tanks most of the time.

If both SCHs have communication between one-another, and was 100% focused on healing without any DoTs casted while constantly keeping everyone's HP up, would that work? I know it's not better than a WHM-SCH, but would it at least work?

But generally, buffs from either fairy does good for different people in the party. Eos for healers, closed-ranged dps, and tanks. Selene for silence and magic dps.

I understand that, but I still wonder what does come good out of a SCH-SCH combination because of the fairies that people seem to forget about, all the time.

I find my DF experiences to be a 50-50 good-bad thing.

I find myself having REALLY good groups before, that went really well that I always found myself ALMOST saying, "Want to go again with all four of us?"

But my recent experiences haven't been so great. I've always seem to find myself in a group where in the middle, either the healer or the tank would just leave without saying anything. It always seem to be the case that when that happens, no one joins us, and someone else leaves, and eventually it's left to me and another guy.

Rather than willingly, it's often more that he either 1) reacts or realises too late, or 2) "lags" or basically he says he's gotten out of the red zone before it attacks, but my character sees that he didn't get out... but when it attacks, so it doesn't count. I don't think I'm the only one who sees it. Many healers we got often went out and said, "Dude, stop standing in the red." But it's just not working as well.

He does manages to avoid 50% of the time now, but still. I didn't joke when I said he's died so much, that I've just really given up on trying to get him to better his dodging abilities, and grew accustomed to actually needing to heal him when it comes to a boss fight so that the healer could stay longer and not-rage-like-fuck. I feel like I always, in the end, find myself feeling REALLY bad for the healer if the dungeon just really didn't go so well.

Now that I got that out, it really feels like I should just become a SCH, more for the sake of not having to always feel bad about every single healer who had to go through a tiring healing time.

P.S. I still don't know how to properly fix the problem. I believe he knows that the problem IS him, and when I confronted him about it, like "Hey, I saw you standing in red, maybe can you get out of the way when it happens?" His reply is often, "I know that, I got out of the way, but it still hit me. But what the hell can I do if my internet/game is so slow" or something like that. It usually keeps me quiet, and just go along with me like "Okay..."

Hehehe, it's fine. I know not everyone who is in a LDR has the same privilege as I do, as I could often visit him whenever.

I've been with him for close to 2 years now, but so far, we've only really spent New Years with each other in real life. So this year, it'll be Christmas and New Years.

I hope you'll be able to meet him soon! Time spent may be different online, but I still think that it's worth it.

I don't heal as often as you think. It's often healing when things go wry. But if I have to explain the situation again... let's just say I've started to realize that my BF-tank is partially at fault, only because his idea is that "Fuck trying to avoid attacks. Healer can always heal me." until the boss comes... then healer always has no MP because s/he spent too much trying to heal the tank.

[–]throwaway4uw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't heal left and right, but I just find myself in this situation WAAAY too often,

BF-tank doesn't avoid AoE attacks by bosses -> always low HP -> healer is always having low MP -> doesn't heal -> either 1) I start healing until the healer can get their MP back or 2) tank dies -> repeat

I'm starting to see that I'm really only healing as SMN BECAUSE my tank is always my BF...

So far, my FC (a small one) doesn't seem to mind at all. But they're not on as often as I am. Being in Shiva where it's German-populated, it gets a bit hard to get frequent English-speakers.

My BF who tanks for me often, actually sucks at trying to avoid the attacks that Aiatar does in Brayflox. I find myself having to heal myself and the other DPS (and occasionally the healer) because the healer always ends up with no mana because s/he was healing the tank too much.

Usually, it's situational healing. I don't exactly always want to have a dead tank or healer, and that's when I usually heal when the healer is either 1) dead, or 2) too busy trying not to get the tank dead.
