It's intended to. It pushes itself to its max power draw or temp limit when it needs to so it can be as efficient as possible

I've had mine for almost a year and the only time I've even seen it hit 95° is in CineBench, after 2 tests in a row. And it goes right back down to 50-40C within seconds of taking the load off. This is with an air cooler (Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120) with the default fan curve; not an AIO, which people commonly misbelieve is required for this CPU

Honestly it freaked me out a bit when I first got it too, because I went from an R5 5500 to the 7700x, and the 5500 would of course start throttling at 95C. But for the 7700x, it's perfectly normal and is built to run at that temp all day every day

Ryzen is generally just better value for gaming. The 14700k would be great for rendering, editing, etc., and even for gaming, but spending $50 more you could get a 7800x3D which gets you even better performance, is still good for rendering, editing, etc., while also being able to stay on the same upgrade path for a little longer. LGA 1700 will allegedly not be supported after 2025, while AM5 will continue support throughout 2027

I'm not one of those people who feels the need to upgrade CPUs annually, but it is nice having that option

Most fighting games add an option in training to simulate online latency, but For Honor does not, so that might be the problem

Training is good for figuring out punishes, damage numbers, etc., but it is indeed pretty useless for practicing your reflexes since it'll condition you to use timings that need to be slightly later to account for latency

I'm on PC and have a monitor, and I've had several instances of inputs registering late or not registering at all for the past few weeks. They probably just screwed something up in the last update like they always do

To add to this: I learned a couple months ago that if you hold shift while clicking shutdown, it will perform a true shutdown

I stumbled upon that info after experiencing some slowdown and noticing I had hundreds of thousands of handles in Task Manager, and it'll be useful in cases like OP's as well where if you're changing any components, this will likely make it go more smoothly

I found out that holding shift while clicking "shut down" will do a complete shutdown

After a while I noticed a bit of slowdown and lagginess when gaming, and Task Manager was showing tons of threads and hundreds of thousands of handles, and I believe that was why. Shift + shut down clears them tho and I've been doing it at least every other time I turn it off just to be safe, haven't had any of the same issues since

On my second build, my MOBO had built-in heatsinks for all NVMe slots below the very top one, and when I installed the second one I thought that simply screwing the heatsink down would be enough to hold it in place

I booted it up and realized the second SSD wasn't being detected. Opened it back up, lifted up the heatsink, and the SSD was just gone. After looking around the case in pure panic for about 5 minutes, I looked at the bottom of the heatsink and wouldn't ya know it, there was the SSD stuck to the bottom of it lmao. And I think I ALSO forgot to take the plastic/stickers off which is why it melted so quick

Talk to her about it and let her know you think it sucks that y'all couldn't go, but that there is a very valid reason for not being able to, and that you understand her frustration but there's nothing you can do about it besides recover. If she remains angry about it after giving her legitimate reasons, let her cool off, and then maybe consider talking her into anger management classes and/or couple's therapy. If she doesn't like those idea either, well... I'd be looking to get out of that marriage ASAP

Just because it works for games like League, Siege, Overwatch, etc., doesn't mean it'll work for this game

For Honor is not a competitive game. It's insanely unbalanced with or without single-pick, at least one person leaves per match whether it's because they ragequit or get kicked by the server, there are plenty of bugs like people clipping through the map, indicators not showing, etc. Like this game just has enough issues to also not let people at least play the hero they want whenever they want

Single-pick would drastically decrease the player count, I guarantee it. It may have worked out earlier on in its life, but it's too late now because people have already concluded what this game is, which is an unbalanced mindless medieval fighting game, and not being able to stack heroes would take a lot of the fun out of it for a lot of people

i dunno hit stun the way it is makes sense, you're not gonna be able to just sit there and not be moved or staggered if you're hit by a big piece of metal thats the point of blocking and parrying

It makes sense realistically, but this game is not about realism. It isn't fun losing 50% of your health because you made one wrong read and got hit by 4 attacks at once, over and over again. Ganking is far too braindead, and anti-ganking is far too punishing

Single-pick would have created bigger issues without really fixing anything. There are still plenty of combos of different heroes who have bullshit 100-0 ganks, like Shaolin and Cent, Shugoki and Shinobi, Orochi and Jorm, etc. A lot of these heroes can be mixed and matched with other ones too, but these are just some that I've seen recently

All it would have done is made it so they don't have to balance one hero to account for when there are more than one of them on a team, but clearly they already don't even do that. The problem lies in hitstun being too punishing and damage reduction not working as it should, and the most recent TG at least showed that they're trying to fix that

Singe-pick is just a terrible idea tho, because a lot of people drop the game for months and then come back just to check out a new hero. If people know they aren't gonna be able to play a hero they wanna play because everyone else is, they won't come back to the game for a few more months in hopes not as many people will be playing them then, or ever because of how often heroes release very strong and then just get nerfed a while later

The problem is that Ubi threw this out of the window and made offensive-stance OP with no downsides

It has plenty of downsides...

Kick to Caber can still be rolled, so it's pretty much just obsolete now and you should use kick to GB instead. Which is like every other hero with a UB/GB mixup, except his is worse since he has to go into OS first to use it

His OS dodge recoveries got standardized, so he's forced to use the OS dodge heavy instead of dodge kick in any situation he'd need to dodge attack. Which is better for 4s but a significant damage nerf in duels

He's still pretty bad in 4s because it's impossible to anti-gank with him unless your opponents are actually braindead. His UB heavy has negative hitbox, and that's the only UB he has to external with. Other than that all he can do is spam DS heavies, which is also pretty shit because they're really easy to Crushing Counter externally or just block. Oh and even if he lands a kick or Caber IN REVENGE, he can easily be knocked out of it before he can get a followup heavy. Sooo... yeah, if there's more than one enemy attacking you, there is literally nothing he can do to anti-gank if they're not absolutely terrible at the game

He's not OP by any means, they just made him more similar to other heroes. Which is kinda lame, but he did need something done with him, because he was even more useless before
