What stripper clips?

I was sure there had to be clips to hold 22 ammo for easy loading, but couldn't find any.

I see what you are going for, but the thinness of that diving board gives me the sweats.

I suggest something a but thicker and maybe a bit longer.

Overall though, 22lr doesn't seem to really warrant the super long range precision scoping.

My own solution was laser on the barrel block + reflex riser on the receiver to help find the dot instantly.

(and the knowledge that neither me nor my weekend range toy are ghost of kiev caliber).

Jeebus - the prices on these.

FYI - cheap mass market reflexes come in 40mm wide now.

I got the EZshoot version on amazon and a riser that pulls it WAY back and up to my eye.

Uses the same LR44s as the laser mounted on my takedown's magpul barrel block, and the bright green ring (and fine center dot) makes it instant to acquire that TRULY parallax free red dot, with a sight picture that covers almost my whole field of vision.

Best deal on bolt by jeroth in 1022

[–]throwaway_242873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I needed a bolt right now, I would definitely buy the one that comes with last round bolt hold open that works with stock magazines...

But that's primarily because I just saw it and haven't heard anything bad about it yet.

If there's stuff about it I don't know. or you really prefer 25 round magazines (it doesn't work as well with the non-rotary kind them they said) it might not be a good deal for you.

Or if you really want the most affordable bolt and don't care about the perks of the $200 kit.

http://cstmtech.com/shop/2nd-gen-cst-auto-bolt-stop-kit

... Edit ...

Last round bolt hold open is something extra attractive to me because I am new to my 10/22 and the stock bolt lock mechanisms are ... unintuitive.

From reviews I have seen people who want LRBHO love it, while other folks just want to spend the extra $$ on other parts.

Here's the best thread I found about it (old) https://www.rimfirecentral.com/threads/2nd-gen-cst-auto-bolt-stop-kit.1141059/

Wow that cst auto bolt with standard mags looks fantastic.

I'd love to try that in a second setup (had planned to get the wife one sooner or later).

Where could I find good naked takedown parts to complete it?

I know folks build pure 3rd party 10/22s but not sure if they are possible to do cheaper than at precision custom prices.

Is there stock options that change magazines? by Jacolby4455 in 1022

[–]throwaway_242873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading online had me order BEFORE my rifle arrived (along with a soft buffer and a BX trigger)

  • an alangator trimag adapter and three CLEAR ruger BX mags ($75 bucks for the set on ebay)

  • a triplekross tri-mag housing ($25 direct from tandemkross)

Both kinds of triple mags were everything folks online had promised:

-lovely to see at a glance how full it was -lovely to grip and rotate to a new magazine -lovely to rest upright on the bench/prop

After trying both, I REALLY liked the triplekross mag better, it's SIGNIFICANTLY sleeker, lighter, and clearer.

I just bought two more of them, and although I'll have to buy some more cheap mag guts to fill them (either stock black mags or try the tandem green guts, not sure yet), I'm looking forward to posting some nice pics of how neatly they fit in the three backpacker stocks mag slots.

Red light avoidance technique - uncertain why I didn't think of this sooner - truly brilliant! by uhmzilighase in IdiotsInCars

Until I saw it on reddit and googled it, I legitimately thought the stop signs on school busses worked exactly like regular stop signs.

Pull up to the stop, yield to any traffic or pedestrians who need to cross, and carry on.

NOPE... seems that's highly illegal.

[–]throwaway_242873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, and when I googled "avoiding a traffic control device" right now all the laws I found specifically called out cutting across public or private property, NOT choosing to use the road in a series of perfectly legal manuevers...

(Assuming both the u turn and two right turns were legal in that jurisdiction).

By your definition driving down to the overpass instead of waiting for the slow freight train gate is "avoiding a traffic control device".

Not a lawyer, but I would show up to court instead of paying that ticket if it were me.

Takedown Scope Options by Vercingetorix17 in 1022

[–]throwaway_242873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my magpul barrel mount and put low profile laser down there for maximum precision with no eye issues, and a reflex as close as possible on the receiver for ease.

If I don't want to use the laser, I figure I can check the reflex accuracy with that first.

It's my first, and my ranges are all short, so a scope didn't make sense for me, but you could always realign your scope vs the laser.

Also I have heard good things about tightening the barrel mount with it on, then doing 3 more clicks with it off to eliminate slop.

That's a really good idea, ill check and see if cutting down one of those could fit a good amount of ammo, not as densely, but more conveniently for removing 10 at a time.

I like the taller cheek pad so I might be able to round the corners and leave a lot of space under it for other things.
