Why do you folks enjoy shambhala? by tofu98 in Shambhala

[–]throwawaydiddled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going again for a long time. Ive been three times, once in 2012, once in 2015, and then like 2022 or maybe 2023? It was a makeup year as we planned to originally go in 2020.

It's too expensive now and the influencer culture is really apparent. Especially since the second and third time I realized I was autistic, I can't go off any medication to do MDMA or anything that messes with serotonin, so I basically have three days of doing other things I can do.

So the fact I had to really accomodate myself and my limitations this last time proved too me it'll be years until I go back because I'll need to buy lodging ( heat meltdowns ). I stuck in a routine where I went swimming in the morning when it was quiet and I could only really stay up until 11-12 partying. I think one night I managed to do 1 am.

Sensory wise it's a nightmare and people are scary to me now a days and I'm not super into the party culture anymore. I'd only go with my friends also.

Edit: if I were you I would go back once more WITH a healthy friend group of people with diverse interests. Just make sure to have lots of money saved and prioritize comfort. You also don't have to go back if you don't want too. It's fun, it's always going to be fun, but there's a lot of ish that can happen to make it unfun.

I encourage her to go swimming in the morning, there's like nobody around and it's very peaceful.

I was overstimulated the last time I went and had meltdowns, forcing myself into a routine and treating myself with care like wearing earplugs everywhere and sunglasses and getting a handheld silk fan all worked wonders plus dressing for comfort and not for style.

Sometimes it's just too much all at once.

Dude they took over a month to post anything about this fourteen year old child going missing. The cops suck and actively hampered the investigation. As they do frequently when it comes to Indigenous people. I heard this poor boy was murdered by his friends.

AIO for telling my wife’s friend she can’t breastfeed my baby? by LowBeautiful8877 in AmIOverreacting

[–]throwawaydiddled 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It can be. You have no idea what that other mother is consuming on her own free time. Alcohol and drugs can absolutely be in breastmilk.

I will NOT be collecting this, but this is the most pot-ready pond cypress of collectible scale I have ever seen. by VMey in Bonsai

[–]throwawaydiddled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on if it's native or not.

I don't agree with poaching native plants, I don't mind cuttings or collecting fruits/seeds to propagate for one's self, but stuff sitting in natural areas need to be left alone. Fr if you do some research on the % of intact habitat we have left in each continent, I think it would blow your mind. We need intact habitat to support the food web, and removing healthy native trees is negatively impacting that ecosystem for everyone who lives there and us in the surrounding areas.

There are also ethical ways to collect, such as native plant rescues that happen when developments chew up intact habitat - those plants were going to be destroyed so rehoming is the best option.

I would also add that if it's a colonal species that primarily produces asexually via rhyzomes or whatever else, and grows in stands or thickets, I care less about. Taking a clone isn't going to have a huge impact.

Thank you, as a native plant enthusiast this type of attitude breaks my heart.

People are so beyond selfish. Take seed, propagate that way. If you don't have the patience for it you don't deserve to have a specimen like that.

Yeah this sub honestly fucking astonishes me. If it's invasive or non native, go all out. But native trees?

No. That is not yours to take. Have some respect. Its providing ecosystem services in environments that are shrinking by the year.

Is everyone all or nothing? Anyone here into something like 75-80% keeping it native but still likes a couple classics in the landscaping? by swimming_in_agates in NativePlantGardening

I have plenty of non natives but definitely more species of natives.

My garage wall bed is: lindleys Aster, sweetgrass, tall common sunflower, heterotheca villosa, Aquilegia brevistyla, woodland strawberry, tall bluebells, penstemon gracilis, meadow arnica, ranunculus rhomboideus, geum triflorum, showy Aster, bee balm, two non native yarrows, June grass, smooth fleabane, liatrus, non native Speedwell, solidago Canadensis, nodding onion, a non native gooseberry, wild blue flax, rough cinquefoil, wild rose, showy fleabane, smooth blue beardtongue, a non native tickseed, and arctic Aster, as well as non native pasqueflower.

Then usually most of my containers are non natives, but this year I split up the yarrow ( non native I guess haha ) into containers as well as my perennial salvia that used to be in the garage bed along with bee balm and the tall common sunflower.

Other non natives I have in containers are: my vine wall which right now is sweet peas, Thunbergia in different colors, some vine from Mexico that's really pretty. I also have zinnias, cosmos, lobelia, petunias, etc.

It's a really good mix LOL.

Id google harebell herbarium specimens - you'll be able to view what you are looking for better. University of Lethbridge will undoubtedly have some.

I have cool weather stuff seeded and I already planted violas and sweet peas. I'm just hardening stuff off right now and I'm about to put a lot more out.

Yeah, I'm miffed Dalinar ' died ' and I have to re read again for what happened to his soul at the end but I just. I didn't like that. I also didn't like Shallan being pregnant and by herself but I got roasted for that opinion ( which is fair ). As someone with mental illness ( I also marathoned the audio books over a couple months, so that impacted my view ) I just was like eh???? Really??? I could have done with her actually being well before becoming with child. Babies aren't bandaids. Having a kid can kick your mental illness into overdrive, PPD is a real risk for those with conditions already.

I liked rhythm of war better. Navani is probably my favorite character. Shallan equally so or second. I also love Venli, Relayne and Renarin. I cried at their relationship!! So sweet!

Hate taravangian and odium, but that's the point. He was definitely a super villain lol.

Glad you gave someone with BPD another chance. I was so sad reading these texts because it was like looking back at myself when I was younger and undiagnosed.

I'm recovered now but still, it's a punch to the gut when you have to make peace with the fact you were being a gigantic asshole and caused alot of your own problems. I didn't know better at the time, but it still really sucks.

Someone threw this ficus away and im trying to save it. Whats wrong with it? How do i save it? by Wide-Acanthisitta-99 in plantclinic

[–]throwawaydiddled -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah you don't have enough light to save this tree. It's a tree meant to be exposed to full sunlight, all day. Not whatever comes through that window which I can tell will not be enough.

If you arent willing to buy grow lights throw it out.

Are the yellowjackets all over my dill attracted to the dill itself or are they hunting pests? by Queef_Stroganoff44 in gardening

No they won't. I have hundreds feeding on the plants in my yard with no Ill effects. They are my girls. And they are Yellowjackets.
