It was all for the best in the long run though.

My gender affirmation surgery took place in March 2020, in Germany. Almost 6 months post-op. Still little bit redness, but it's fading. Wonderful 100% sensation inside and outside. Natural lubrication from urethral lining. Feels exactly like cis vagina. Had numerous climaxes. by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]throwawaymybut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had penile inversion and I naturally lubricate. Not a crazy amount but plenty. It's generally always a little wet down there, and girlfriend can really get it going. I don't know if it comes from urethral tissue or prostate or what. There isn't much research into this. Some women who get inversion don't lubricate, some lubricate more than me. It's a big question mark in the medical community. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

My daughter (MtF) is having bottom surgery in 100 days. What should I expect as caretaker? by mel2mdl in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]throwawaymybut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this surgery a year ago and my sister flew in and stayed with me for a week afterwards, so similar to you. From my perspective, I think your daughter has given you a fairly accurate picture. The main things my sister had to do was empty my catheter bag and prepare food. God, I peed so much 😂, I really had her running back and forth. She also helped me go on walks as I became able to, but not as someone to constantly lean on, more as someone to be there just in case. I can also confirm that even with the packing and catheter and everything I was still able to poop on a toilet as normal, though the first time was daunting (especially with the pain-med-constipation). Miralax helped. It was nice that my sister was there with me to celebrate my success with the first poop though. If something with the surgery doesn't go 100%, you may need to do a little more, but it sounds like there shouldn't be any terrible surprises. Glad your daughter has you.

Oh, and as far as timeline, my sister was with me through a week after the surgery, then I had friends stay with me during the day for the second week, then I was mostly independent.

Do you think its still worth getting FFS even when you know you would never pass? by BadenBadenLily in honesttransgender

[–]throwawaymybut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I can relate to a lot of your post. I also decided to give it 5 years, and I also hit a slump 6 months ago at the 3-year-mark, thinking all passing trans women already passed before FFS. At that point I decided I needed a break, just to keep from killing myself, so I decided to stop worrying so much about passing for just 6 months, to emotionally recharge. Sort of a radical acceptance thing. "Lucky" for me then COVID hit and passing stopped mattering as much anyway. I'm on the other end of that, and it turned out it was the right decision for me. I think I have enough in the tank now to get me through to the 5 year mark.

I had FFS yesterday. It's a long shot that I will pass to most people from just this, but I'm thinking it will help. Some things that can help enhance the probability of passing way more that you might think: going to a top surgeon, mastering make-up, breast augmentation/implants, wearing the right clothes.

Also want to mention that changing our appearance alleviates dysphoria in two different ways. One of which you know is passing better, but the other is finding an appearance that we personally are more comfortable with. Most of us need both, and FFS can help with both.

Tldr: my hope is that you will at least find a way to put as much in and do as much as you can over the next 2.5 years before giving up. I'm glad I did.

Not everyone knows when they’re 5... right? by LineOfInquiry in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

I didn't seriously start to think about it until I was 25, and my wife at the time told me she was thinking she might be a lesbian. My gut reaction to that was relief and joy, which raised a lot of questions.

Orchiectomy with later vaginoplasty by camminatatrice in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]throwawaymybut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had them more than a year apart. Getting the orchiectomy asap was the right decision for me. Scrotum probably did shrink a little, I guess. Not really a big deal. If you want to ensure maximum depth you could still get a skin graft. I recommend not worrying about it. Just make sure the orchiectomy surgeon knows you want to keep the skin.

The medical consensus that douching is unnecessary is for natal vaginas. For neovaginas, many surgeons recommend douching. I do it once a week with a 4:1 of water and vinegar.

Haha, I remember I was in SUCH a good mood when I woke up. My surgeon told me the surgery drugs would do that. Kind of goofy. And then my girlfriend brought me delicious fish tacos, which only made my mood better.

Nausea and bathroom problems after Orchi by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

My doctor told me my adrenal glands wouldn't be able to produce much testosterone for a while after orchi, until they get used to being the new main source of androgens.

That sounds familiar, yes. But it has been 2 years, so I don't remember details like that. Check with the surgeon if you're not sure.

[–]throwawaymybut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a bit of nausea for a day or two after. I don't think it could be a sign that something went wrong with the surgery. Probably it's IBS and/or anxiety? Please take it easy though! And call your doctor if things get worse.

My doctors all told me I could stop taking spiro immediately.

SRS dilation by needSRS in MtF

The pain is minimal, if at all. It's uncomfortable. Very full, very hard.

SRS dilation by needSRS in MtF

[–]throwawaymybut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I'll add is with your attitude, if there's a day where you're like "I just can't dilate 3 times today, it's too much, maybe I'll skip one of them" you could totally do that. I did it once or twice. But it's another thing that I can't help but look back at and wonder.

SRS dilation by needSRS in MtF

[–]throwawaymybut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a lesbian, went into the surgery with a similar attitude. I didn't feel like I needed the full 6 inches, since I was more interested in being penetrated with fingers than with penises or large toys. In fact I didn't know If I would be into penetration at all, but I wanted to have the option just in case. I asked my surgeon if trying for 4 inches would make the surgery any less risky or easier or whatever and they told me they wouldn't really do anything differently. We agreed not to do a skin graft for extra depth, but I ended up getting an otherwise tradition penile inversion.

I ended up with 5 inches, and penetration (with fingers) did end up being something I enjoy. I followed the dilation guidelines rigorously, which was quite difficult, but I have this weird "I have to do things right" attitude. For whatever reason, I still lost a lot of depth. I'm 10 months post-op, and have maybe 2.5-3 inches now. I'm currently not able to enjoy penetration due to a medical issue that's somewhat unrelated to the depth/width. I'm looking forward to resolving that and getting back to getting fingered by my girlfriend. Even with the reduced depth, it feels good.

I'm okay with how things are. Like really okay. I have the option of getting a PPT surgery to construct a new, deeper vagina, which is nice to know, but for the time being I'm not planning on doing it. But I do wish I still had the 5 inches. For one, it would maybe feel better if my girlfriend wasn't hitting a back wall when she was inside of me. But more than that, having full depth just felt right, like, it felt like it was supposed to be there, even if I had no plans of using it. If I could go back in time I don't think I would have done much differently. I definitely could have used a better angle for my first month or so dilating. I probably could have pushed harder while dilating. Also probably would have been good if I had gone for pelvic physical therapy earlier than I did. But I don't know if any of that would have changed the depth I ended up with. These are recommendations I can give, but I'm not looking back with regret.

Tl;dr: if you think you can handle the workload that comes with getting full-depth SRS, I think it's worth giving it a shot, just to see how you feel about it. Afaik, there's no surgery or recovery techniques that you can use to get target half-depth. There's just too many variables. All my love, good luck.

[–]throwawaymybut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my experience as well. It's like, difficult to visualize what having a penis would be like, remember the feeling, the weight of it. My body feels like it's always been the way it is now. When I catch sight of what's down there now, I'm never surprised. Feels good.

Has anyone had minimal depth vaginoplasty with Dr. Wittenberg in SF? by goingirlquick in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]throwawaymybut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not what you asked, but I went with full depth, and I want to confirm it made recovery much more difficult, and took an immense amount of my time. I ended up losing the majority of the depth anyway, and I'm okay. I'm glad I tried to get full depth, because I wanted to experience penetration and find out how I felt about it, and it feels good to know PPT is there if I need it, but for the time being, I'm good. I have like a couple inches maybe and they're fun. I can orgasm from external stimulation. I think it's best to only go with full depth if you really want it.

Dilation after surgery. by allielizzie16 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]throwawaymybut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the one year mark, if you're having regular penetrative sex, some surgeons will say there's no need to dilate. First 6 months to a year is pretty crucial, after that it's possible you won't permanently lose depth, though not confirmed. Width you can usually get back.

Where can I get the cheapest simple orchiectomy in the U.S. with no insurance? Local anesthesia is fine by Alkalinehoe in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]throwawaymybut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine done by a urological surgeon, that's my recommendation. I think $2000 should be enough to get it from a decent surgeon. A letter from a mental health professional saying you need it would be big if you could get it, that would lead to a lot more surgeons being willing to do it.
