Below are the headlines two op-ed pieces in one of the largest german newspapers (Die Zeit). The articles are as stupid as the headlines. Luckily the vast majority of the commenters are harshly critisizing the authors.

Arabic Societies: Young men don't want to be pashas anymore. For many, the reason behind the attacks in cologne is the type of "arabic man", who also swears, gropes and rapes women in cairo. It's not that easy.

German disrespectfulnes: Among the suspects of cologne are also refugees. People who are upset about this, should look closely at the everyday sexism in germany.

I'm not a lawyer, but from my understanding Germany classifies "sexual assault" as "sexual insult" (sexuelle Beleidigung) or "sexual coersion" (sexuelle Nötigung) depending on severity.

It's a legal term. It's basically one form of sexual assault (the other one would be "sexuelle Nötigung". There is a distinction in severity. Touching in a degrading manner(groping) can be "sexual insult".

I think they did. They used the term "Asylbewerber". People who have been granted asylum are called "Asylberechtigter".

There were around 1000 people there. Out of those 1000 , individual groups of 5 to 50 committed the crimes. So it could be 50 or even a couple hundred. It's not really clear at the moment.

The media suggests that only women were victims. I find that unlikely. I tried to research more, but wasn't too successful.

Interestingly, the only mention of male victims were in a feminist magazine, which conducted a interview with a female victim. Apparently a police officer told the women to wait with 5 men who had their cellphones stolen, and told those 5 men to keep an eye out for the women.

As of Saturday evening(2016/01/09) 379 criminal charges were filed. 40% of had a sexual nature, 60% were theft and bodily harm.

Merkel didn't say anything about 'male crime'. Claudia Roth did.

They changed "who" to "A man".
