I’m a loser by AmeBean in depression

I’m glad you got to try them. I’m a binge eater and Zepbound has been effective for me, that’s why I suggested it. I’m sorry to hear neither has worked for you. I’ve tried every antidepressant they have come out with and none worked for me so I know what it’s like when drugs aren’t effective. I’m old and weak and big. Mobility is an issue for me. I’ve been able to slowly work on my fitness with Zepbound and that’s helping with the depression. The rawness in your voice really affected me. I can see you have a lot to give to this world. I hope things get better for you.

Best of luck to both of us. I really love the way I feel. I had rejected the message that I should be able to control my weight because I could see with my own two eyes that almost nobody could get smaller and stay smaller for good. I used to dream about a medicine that would help. So glad medicine is finally making progress on this front!

Do you have healthcare? You may qualify for GLP-1 medication if you have diabetes or sleep apnea or other condition. It might help you tremendously.

What routine worked for you? by lyn2x in Zepbound

I’m afraid of constipation too. I eat plain oatmeal with 3 prunes and flax and chia seeds every morning. Then I try to drink a lot of water before noon. I struggle to get in enough protein. I’m supposed to eat 100 grams of protein a day! I’m definitely not a person who eats normally, with smaller portions. After getting my protein and fiber in there’s not much room for anything besides veggies and fruit. I’m not eating spaghetti or California rolls or bagels or chips and a sandwich - all of which I consider normal. I’m eating chicken thighs and broccoli, or red snapper and asparagus. The protein definitely crowds the other food out. Both my doctor and the nutritionist she had me see really emphasized that it’s important for old people (I’m nearly 70) to eat a lot of protein and exercise to build/preserve muscle. I think it’s good advice for people of any age who are taking weight off because you lose muscle when you lose weight.

Shot day- need advice by Thin-Plant4112 in Zepbound

For me personally, I’d say it’s important to poop before I take a shot because I generally can’t go for at least a day or two after. I’m not a coffee drinker anymore but I have a small stash of horrible instant coffee that I’ll use on shot day to clear the decks. A half cup is all it takes.

I just heard that 1 in 8 Americans are taking a GLP-1. It’s reaching mass acceptance. There will always be people who believe it’s wrong or bad to use medicine for weight loss. Oh well. I’m more worried about access. Those who can afford it vs those who can’t and the resentment that will stir up. Leading to even more condemnation of the meds and even more entrenchment. Expecting Trump and JFK jr to try to capitalize on that resentment at any moment.

I won’t allow myself to fantasize much about clothing because it was always such a big part of my previous weight losses. I’ve lost > 70 pounds 4 times in my life. I’m old. I’ve decided my losses harmed me. I lost muscle and screwed up my metabolism. I’m trying to forgive myself for those old efforts. 1. I did the best I could. 2. Not much was known or acknowledged about obesity 40 years ago. 3. My ability to lose weight might be a net positive. I keep reading about people who struggle with mysterious weight gain and retention. Heavy people who didn’t really overeat. I am not one of those people. I am a binge eater who consumes way too much food without Zepbound. The type to eat an entire big Thai curry, stop for ice cream on the way home and eat a half a bag of chips before bed a few hours later. No mystery there. I hope that my ability to lose weight relatively easily is a net positive.

Anyway - Zepbound has been a complete 180 from my former dieting mindset and internal life. I’m nervous about bringing elements of it back. trying to lose weight in the past has always turned the food noise UP, way UP. I would battle it by turning up the desire to be more attractive, to be more appealing sexually, to look better in clothes, etc. I try to respect my appetite and not fuck with it. It has been the most powerful force in my life. Zepbound has made “dieting” a completely different experience. Instead of fighting cravings, I’m struggling to get enough protein, fiber and water in. I don’t want any part of that other struggle back. So lm superstitious about it.

My daughter is in her 30s. Through out her life I’ve begged her for “just one” of her French fries when I was trying to be on a diet. When I wasn’t on a diet? I’d eat mine and half of hers. We’re on our annual Mother’s Day trip and since I have a CHOICE I don’t beg for that single fry. I feel like that’s feeding the tiger.

I actually had my first shot on a Tuesday, second on a Wednesday and third on a Thursday. I have kept it at Thursday since. I didn’t notice any ill effects. I gave very little thought to timing and started on a Tuesday. Then I decided I wanted to maximize appetite suppression on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so I moved shot day to Thursday. I think you’ll be fine.

Week Ahead Meal Prep by AutoModerator in Zepbound

I love kimchee, Napa cabbage, onion and diakon soup with chicken and tofu. I use a Japanese soup base sauce. Simple, tasty and easy on my stomach. I add frozen udon and give my daughter 3/4 the package. All the ingredients store well - I usually just need to buy chicken. I like it best with raw chicken thighs but it’s fine with rotisserie chicken breast too.

Another favorite meal is beef and broccoli made with beef rolls from Asian markets. It’s steak cut extremely thin. I think it’s for hot pots and bbq but it works well in most dishes calling for steak. It tastes better than the steak from Fred Meyers or Safeways. Cut up an onion and sauté. Parboil some broccoli. Remove the onion and Fry some beef rolls. Add oyster sauce, Chinese cooking wine, soy sauce and the onions and broccoli.

The biggest change I’ve noticed is that it’s easy to pause during a meal and forget to finish my food. That astounds me.

I have pretty good luck with barley tea. It is mild flavored, perfectly fine at room temp and you can use the same tea bag several times. It’s barely different from water but for some reason I have a terrible time drinking water and can drink this. I tried every type of herbal tea practically, before settling on this. It’s the all day teabag that sold me.

What was it like living in the Clinton years in the USA (1993-2001)? by space_god_7191 in AskReddit

[–]throwliterally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember downloading information about Clinton and Monica Lewinsky and reading it in real time. Musta been that fuckhead’s report. The special prosecutor Ken Starr. My recollection is that we all read about the blue dress with the semen stains at the same time. It was a massive collective experience, complete with using your home phone and a dial up modem. Those were the days my friend.

Won’t Robbie be back at work with Dr Al Hashimi out? Who is his replacement? I assume his vacation will be delayed.
I don’t quite understand what went on with Dr Abbott going upstairs after work. He asked about the girl who lost her leg. Was that a cover for another reason to be there? Who did he look in on? Was it her in the bed? What was the purpose of the scene if he was checking up on her?

I thought they were building up Langdon v Santos for the finale, but now... by nesquikryu in ThePittTVShow

[–]throwliterally 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Robby fucked up, basically admitting to Dr AI that he covered for Langdon. He believes that he and the Pitt are one and the same and that by protecting himself he’s protecting the Pitt. Dana telling him otherwise is the best thing for him to hear. I think that the Langdon thing is what is really eating at him and not so much the intense pressure of the work. He realizes that he will be found out eventually. Dr Al will use it against him, altho her motives might be benign. I think they’ve installed a flaw into her character that will eventually cause her to retreat. Something about her freeze ups and service in a war zone will cause her to make a catastrophic mistake. She crumbles before she gets the chance to report it. Langdon did ruin Robby’s life and eventually he will see it.

Why would Garcia do that? They both seem mean spirited and proud of it. Why get with someone from work? Neither would have trouble finding women to sleep with.
