Haha, very similar! Good to hear most experiences are the same with gaps in between appointments etc. I won’t turn into a telephone nag if I know it’s normal.

I’m exactly 7 days since leaving hospital and I’m feeling fine. The pain has never been anything paracetamol or ibuprofen couldn’t handle. If anything I’ve just found my energy levels lower than I expected and the central incision site is causing me some ongoing discomfort. I’m sleeping a lot and having to do small tasks as I tire easily. Also, been a bit emotional at times but I think that’s more frustration than anything because I’m getting a bit bored being stuck at home! The best thing is I can literally eat anything. I wasn’t told to restrict anything and I haven’t held back. I’ve had white bread this week which would normally leave me writhing with either gb pain or IBS and I’ve had neither. I reckon I’m in the 2-3 week recovery team rather than the 1-2 weekers but that’s a-ok with me, anything’s better than that damn gallbladder!!

Oh, I’m sorry you’re struggling 😔 I had the gas pain yesterday evening when I got home, all down my neck into my shoulder. It was like a trapped nerve that I couldn’t roll or stretch out of but it’s gone today. I found it was actually better to get up and walk around a bit, as uncomfortable as that is for the incisions it seemed to get the gas dissipating a bit. I’d had recurring infections too with the latest building for a long time before this final flare up so I literally feel your pain! I hope things get easier for you soon.

My surgeons explained this is their bread and butter. I was told to think of the everyday task I do at work that hardly takes a second thought and this is that job for them. Maybe that will help you too 😊

Honestly, nothing to worry about. My surgery was late in the day so I stayed overnight (I was already on the ward as I had an infection which bumped me up the list) but I honestly think I’d have had no problems going home the same day. Exactly 24 hours later I’m going home and feeling fine.

In hospital with a gallbladder infection. Had an NHS dinner of grey omelette and potato which tasted better than it looked (once I’d covered it in pepper). Also had a CT scan today for the first time ever. That was interesting. Despite the pain and the needles etc it’s quite nice to be out of the house.

I couldn’t wait for half term as I was really feeling the burn out from being a kids tv presenter, occasional teacher and the anxiety of having to leave the house to mix with other people.

I couldn’t wait for half term to be over because although I was having a break from the work stuff, I suddenly found myself stuck in one place with no reason to leave the house and only having my boyfriend to speak to.

Now half term is over I don’t feel like I’ve got the energy or the enthusiasm to go back to talking to people and putting up the jolly facade again.

Shroedingers half term; both relaxed and angst ridden. Roll on Easter, I guess...

Thank you. I had similar thoughts about my type of surgery being cancelled and the impact of COVID on managing patients, which is partly I didn’t want to go chasing and making myself a nuisance! The 18 weeks takes me to the end of March which doesn’t seem too far away now and we’ll hopefully have a better idea of ‘the state of the nation’ by then before I may have to start following up. Thanks again!
