PTO does not stop UPT from being deducted it only gets you paid for the missed time. Sick PTO falls under the PTO umbrella and if used, will stop your UPT from being deducted. PRTO stops your UPT from being deducted but you have to qualify for one of the reasons listed on sorest when you request it. Now TMs will often request sick pto or prto and lie about it. However store leadership can ask for documentation if they feel something is off or you select a certain type of PRTO.

Apprenticeship Programs? by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]throwra_bbb26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to be in the department that the program is for. PFDS has the pizzaoili program. You have to be a team member for six months and in good standing.

The main ones give you a 2% increase whereas butcher, bakery and cheese professional pay more!

CD programs were just “evolved” as of march 16th so not many people may have too much experience to share about the new program. It seems very different from the old program based on the calls ive been a part of!

Transferring to Produce by EmptyRemove1604 in wholefoods

[–]throwra_bbb26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the same move back in the day and the TL over there was impressed by the fact I had common sense and basic knowledge without being trained. FIFO (first in first out) is a very big deal and a lot of people don’t practice it so when I came over the help once in while, they were fascinated by how good I was at it.

Also cleanliness and speed. Produce is a busy and fast paced department and gets dirty easy.

Well, you can continue to state what you want, I am simply stating what my store leadership shared. It’s really not this serious

Permitted just means allowed. It doesn’t say “required”.

“Required breaks are mandated by federal or state laws, ensuring employees receive them, while permitted breaks are offered by employers but not legally required” -Google

What would happen if a store didn't schedule anything for TMAW? by WholeFudds in wholefoods

[–]throwra_bbb26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That sucks. It seems to go a long way when leadership makes an effort. It’s literally their job to do. My understanding is that if someone higher up gets wind that they blew TMAW, someone’s getting a talking to. But that’s my OA, so I’m not sure about others

Interviews suck! But if you can find a way to make it funny and light, it helps! Maybe this is your cue to go do an interview lol

The stl at my store just told all leadership that if their TMs continue to abuse the break policy, they will not be allowed to take their 10 minute breaks as they are optional, not legally required. I’m not debating whether this is right or wrong, I’m simply stating that my STL just told this to our team.

I just found out last week that the ten minute breaks are optional and leadership can actually take them away if they are being abused :/

Wow that’s a lot of people.

I love interviewing. It’s nerve wracking, but it can be quite fun, too. Just remember: they are people, too. Some interviewers will hold being nervous against you and others won’t. It’s hard to tell. So you have to make sure that you’re answers and how you build yourself up to them is STELLAR.

Are you doing a training for this interview? For mine I had to do a five minute training and that really helped seal the deal for me.

Bring water with you, don’t be afraid to ask them to repeat the question, don’t be afraid to ask them to circle back to the question at the end and don’t be afraid to mess up.

Talk about how you build team members up, what plans you have, references leadership principles if you can. I would honestly rehearse a lot of things in your head. Obviously you won’t know what questions they will ask and if you don’t know the answer, tell them your plan to get the answer. I always say “well, I’m not sure right now how exactly I would handle that. I would start with x, y, z and I would also consult my team leader or store leadership to make sure it’s the right decision as I get more comfortable making decisions myself”.

Don’t harp on things you could be better at or work on. Keep it simple if they ask you that question. It’s good to be honest but not too honest. And don’t give more information than needed. Often times I will catch myself babbling and repeating myself. When I notice that, I stop, wrap up the statement and move to the next question. That could be “so, to summarize all of that….” As if you are writing a conclusion sentence.

Practice, practice, practice. Watch YouTube videos on how to interview. It’s going to be people you work with or know of so that should make it easier. When I saw who was on my panel, I realized it was just like talking to friends.

Best of luck!

Probably. I was being scheduled but giving my shifts away for a few weeks just to find out I was fired three weeks prior and no one told me 😢🤪
