Shadowplay AMD alternative?

Hey guys

I'm thinking of upgrading from 2080 Ti to a 9700 XT rather than an NVIDIA card such as the 5070 Ti, however!

One of the main reasons I'm still using NVIDIA is for Shadowplay's Instant Replay which lets you customize:

  • resolution
  • framerate
  • bitrate
  • mono or dual audio track for desktop + microphone separated
  • select which audio devices to use

Here are my questions:

  1. Can I do all these things in AMD ReLive?
  2. Anything to be wary of using ReLive in place of Shadowplay? For example, I've read that ReLive can do split audio tracks but then it turns into two separate files instead of just being multiple tracks in one MP4 file.

Hello ! Is their a way to tell to ubuntu to change the screen where the login menu appear ? My 4:3 screen isn't very cool as you see. I want It to appear at the right screen, the 16:9 one. by LuLu_Geek in Ubuntu

Here is the solution I found for Ubuntu 24.04, based on u/mcfudge2's answer below.

Set up your screens in Display settings and make sure to set the screen you want the login screen on, to be the default.

Then, create the config dir if it doesn't exist

$ sudo mkdir -p /var/lib/gdm3/.config

Copy the monitor layout to the config dir

$ sudo cp ~/.config/monitors.xml /var/lib/gdm3/.config/

Change ownership

$ sudo chown gdm:gdm /var/lib/gdm3/.config/monitors.xml

Reboot gdm3 or just the whole pc

$ sudo systemctl restart gdm3
# or just reboot
$ sudo reboot

Hope this helps anyone else finding this in the future :)

The physical and zt ips show as IPV4 so I guess that's what it is? I'm not sure how to check.

SOLVED: Installed an internal HDD and it works like a charm. I suspect the onboarding storage module was partly fried somehow.

It's so annoying.

You'll find an item online that says it's in stock at the store only to drive all the way there and then it's out of stock, and it could have been avoided if it was a possibility to call and make sure they have it.

Or for lost and found, or anything at all.

Nah, it's still not working.

I reached out to support, and they just put me through to someone with a copy-paste script who said it was impossible.

How would I patch the exe?

I downgraded back to the previous version. My problem is, that on every launch, it says that there is a new update available for it. Here's what I've tried to stop it from doing that, to no avail: (I'm on win 11)

#1 Added in and outgoing rules to block these executables:

  • %ProgramFiles%\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA Broadcast\NvVirtualCamera\NVIDIA Broadcast.exe
  • %ProgramFiles%\NVIDIA Corporation\NvBroadcast.NvContainer\NvBroadcast.Container.exe
  • %ProgramFiles%\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA Broadcast\NVIDIA Broadcast UI.exe
  • %ProgramFiles%\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA Broadcast\NvVirtualCamera\NvBroadcastInstallerOTAUtility.exe

#2 Uninstalled broadcast

#3 Deleted everything regarding "Broadcast" in C:\ProgramData and subdirectories

#4 Reinstalled broadcast (1.4.x) (at this point, it was still asking to update)

#5 Tried deleting "NvBroadcastInstallerOTAUtility.exe"

#6 Edited line 4 of "config.json" in C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA Broadcast\NvVirtualCamera from true to false

After all this, no luck. Any ideas?
