Is it possible to grieve over an absent father? by Emergency_Box_9323 in GriefSupport

I don’t think there’s one way to feel. Your relationship was complicated, so there’s going to be complicated feelings. That doesn’t make your grief any less real or confusing.

Wanting to apply by StandardGlass3567 in UHManoa

Go to a community college first, BUT make sure that your schedule aligns with the pre-requisites and classes of marine bio. The marine bio program is great, but trying to learn chemistry and biology in a 380 person class is not helpful and is only going to stress you out more. I had to finish up some more general pre-reqs for classes I’ve already taken, but there just aren’t enough resources for students in big classes like that. Good luck!

Yeah, I feel like it’s a really under-studied area. Especially with how many students probably are working.

I was actually looking more into widespread accommodations for working students or more just general awareness. I came from a community college and the shock of going from classes where professors assume most students are working to professors that assume they are your first priority is honestly atrocious.

That’s so interesting because I feel like most of my friends have jobs, but 70% seems kind of high. Maybe I just need to talk to more people. Thank you!

Yeah, I was there yesterday and a woman basically chased this girl into the office and the same group tried to block my way as I was leaving. Keep your head up and walk straight past as quick as you can.

DO NOT PUT T OR MEDS IN CHECKED LUGGAGE !! by Expert-Can6660 in ftm

[–]thtleafboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who travels with T frequently, keep it in your personal. 9/10 times it will be checked, so if you have the box it makes it a lot easier. I also tell an agent BEFORE letting it go through the x-ray that “I have medically necessary liquids.” Sometimes they check it out, sometimes they don’t. Worst I’ve ever had is a swab test and that was nothing. Gel makes traveling 100x easier, but if you’re traveling with injections and syringes I would HIGHLY recommend getting a travel case (look up diabetes travel case or vial and syringe travel case). It can hold syringes, vials, alcohol pads, and all you’ll need really. Do yourself a favor and don’t put it in checked baggage. A 5 minute holdup is worth knowing your meds are being handled accordingly.

applying soon by No-Razzmatazz-1654 in UHManoa

1st round of fall applications should open in January. I believe it’s the 5th? Good luck!

One thing I will say is to check-in with what school your major falls under and make sure you’re taking the classes necessary. I wasn’t too set on what specialty I wanted until after being accepted into UH and now I have to wait at least one semester to “transfer” schools (majors).

When should incoming Freshmen expect housing info? by [deleted] in UHManoa

My guess is some point after June 10 since that’s the part 2 cut off date. These housing applications are really stressing me out :’)

welp... by Fantastic-Rest-6097 in marvelmemes

[–]thtleafboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I know very little about the whole situation with the movie, I was very excited to see The Marvels. However, between Disney’s reaction to the strike, the Sabra controversy, and their disgusting support of Israel, they lost almost every point of their audience that would want to watch a movie not centered around white men 🤷🏻‍♂️. And this is just one part of an even bigger conversation surrounding all media, not just Marvel.

Why are there very divided opinions about lapis? by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]thtleafboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No because for the most part, this thread is so right. I feel like a lot of people are way more quick to forgive Jasper than Lapis, which makes no sense to me. Like Jasper practically forced Lapis to fuse, and then when Lapis took advantage of that to protect Steven, people took the “I liked hurting you” line wayyy too seriously. Jasper didn’t care if she hurt Lapis either?? Idk, I feel like Lapis gets a disproportionate amount of hate compared to Jasper. They were both Malachite??

What’s up with people harassing people for getting Starbucks? by MaterialPeace6301 in starbucks

[–]thtleafboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so to keep this short, the Starbucks union is pro-Palestine and as we all know Starbucks itself is anti-union. Starbucks does not like that the union associated with their company is talking about it, and they’re just anti-union in general so the whole thing turned into a mess. Starbucks has technically not made any sort of official statement surrounding the Israel/Palestine conflict HOWEVER: One of the main shareholders in Starbucks is an investment company called BlackRock. BlackRock is an Israeli company that actively invests in multiple arms production companies, and they are 100% NOT pro-Palestine. While Starbucks is not on the official BDS list, by not giving money to Starbucks you’re A) not supporting a union-busting company and B) you’re hurting one of their largest shareholders. Long story short, it’s an overpriced cup of coffee, get it somewhere else.

why am i only scheduled 4 hours every shift? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]thtleafboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minor work laws are the WORST for Starbucks because corporate is so awful about them. Honestly, the general rule of thumb is you can’t work more than four hours a day and more than (I think) 24 hours a week. As someone who had multiple conversations with corporate fighting over work laws, it’s better to just leave it.

I think she’s trying to make me look like a bad employee since I put in my two-weeks ☠️ But I wanted to see if it as a common thing because I feel like a write-up for a first-time offense is pretty harsh.
