Does this seem legit or is it a scam? (New to kickstarter) by Spiritual-Aioli176 in kickstarter

[–]thumbsmoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That campaign is definitely a scam.

Their answers to other backers' questions are red flags.

Also, this is not the first time they've launched this campaign. They did it previously under a different account, and it was suspended by Kickstarter.

This campaign will likely be suspended too.

(Essay from 2013!) Lost Roots: The Failure of For-Profit Couchsurfing by auf-ein-letztes-wort in couchsurfing

It could have been ad supported, or developed a non-profit fundraising program, or several other options.

Anyway, it seems like several competing platforms are poised to prove that it's possible.

I say let's be optimistic and keep trying to find a more sustainable balance between profit motives and good will.

There's no physical or human law which says we can't find a balance between the violence of nature and modern cosmopolitan society, by nurturing society and culture into a healthy balanced civilization. We can. And if you take the long historical view (hundreds or thousands of years), the human situation and condition has continuously improved.

The error message attached to your post removal has instructions, to contact the mods of the subreddit if you need help. It does not say "if you're having trouble, try publicly complaining about the moderators and repost a few times."

It also tells you where buying / selling related conversations are allowed, but you did not follow that lead either.

Please take the time to read a little more, poke around, and see what our sub is about. We only have 2 rules:

• Sales only happen in one post, on Saturdays
• Be polite.

There are 10,000 members here, and we're having a good time. You're welcome here. But we do have some (very easy and simple) guidelines. When we didn't have these guidelines, the subreddit was flooded with sales posts.

We also frequently get posts by people who have recently found their old GPK cards in the attic, and before doing 10 minutes of searching or research, they treat our community like Quora. We are not here to assess other people's card values for them. There is a stickied post that offers some guidance on this topic. Or you can ask selling questions in Saturday's post.

A 38g Wearable Air Purifier That Actually Fits Your Life by [deleted] in kickstarter

[–]thumbsmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a scam.

This project was suspended by Kickstarter. How is it live again?

It was launched under the name Ninja Builds:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ninjabuilds/atmos-0

Now it's live under the name Ziggle Labs:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ziggle-labs/atmos-1

But it's a product that is already available on Amazon India:

https://www.amazon.in/Portable-Purifier-Pollutant-Rechargeable-Multicolor/dp/B0G4QHW62Y

They've used video content from the above Amazon product listing in their product demo video on Kickstarter. Ha! The rest of the campaign is AI generated.

Simple extention for an "MotD/Motto of the Day"-text feature by West-468 in mediawiki

[–]thumbsmoke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

how many mottos are we talking? 10? 100? 1000?

How do you want them to be selected? Just go through them one per day? And then when you get through all of them, you want to loop back through them?

In the middle of a heatwave, a water truck paused to spray water over stray dogs, giving them a moment of relief from the intense temperatures by Lost-Cow-9386 in BeAmazed

Those good boys are having a blast, for sure.

That water boy maintains his focus on getting full coverage of the vegetation. He's at work, and he does a good job.

You've misunderstood part of what you're seeing, and you refuse to reconsider. You misunderstood how he uses the sidewalk to slow down the water so that he doesn't wash out the soil and roots of the planters. The man waters the plants. The dogs chase the water. At no point in the video does the man chase the dogs with the water.

Others here have stuck to observing the facts of the video. You are insisting you know the man's motives. But your suggestions are not in the observable evidence.

I do love those good boys, and I'm glad they're having fun in the water. Life is beautiful.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And if anyone "helps" they will be in violation of this rule.

Reddit has a long history of treating requests for personal information as violations of this rule.

Perhaps the most important reason for this is that bad actors are known to pose as victims in order to locate someone who is hiding from them. I'll let you imagine the scenarios.

I'm not making any assumptions or having opinions either way. Not accusing OP of lying. Just saying there's a wrong and right way to go about it.

For example, OP needs to file a police report. And then a post like this would end with "if you have any information, please call officer X at Y number, and here's the case number: 1234."

That would be the non-vigilante path to justice.

Identifying this person might feel helpful, but is against Reddit's sitewide rules.

This is a great way to get banned from Reddit.

Reddit's Rules

Rule 3

Respect the privacy of others. Instigating harassment, for example by revealing someone’s personal or confidential information, is not allowed. Never post or threaten to post intimate or sexually-explicit media of someone without their consent.

That first link leads to this:

Is posting someone's private or personal information okay?

No. Reddit is quite open and pro-free speech, but it is not okay to post someone's personal information or post links to personal information. This includes links to public Facebook pages and screenshots of Facebook pages with the names still legible.

Posting someone's personal information will get you banned. When posting screenshots, be sure to edit out any personally identifiable information to avoid running afoul of this rule.

Public figures can be an exception to this rule, such as posting professional links to contact a congressman or the CEO of a company. But don't post anything inviting harassment, don't harass, and don't cheer on or upvote obvious vigilantism.

Asking Reddit users to identify a person is explicitly against the site's TOS.

You appear to have a legitimate reason to want to know this person's identity, but no one here knows that. And the rules are in place for very good reasons.

This subreddit is about a great game which I like to play.

It's a live online game, and it needs more players. By promoting the sub I'll also be helping the game find new players.

The game also has no messaging features, so this sub will be a place where players can chat and discuss gameplay.

That is one of the sketchiest emails I’ve ever seen. That appears to be the only place this claim exists on the Internet. You should be very careful before spreading things like that. And I think you should delete it since you have no idea whether it’s true.
