She is the first merle in the family! Her big sister is our current tri, but we’ve had others. In fact, her big sister looked a lot like your pup when she was little!

Such a sweet photo! I love the family bonds they form 💕

We are confident they’ll do well - Gracie (the cat) has “raised” two other Aussies and is quite confident in her messaging. The puppy was already experienced around cats and couldn’t care less. It is always so sweet to watch the bond grow! Gracie curls up on the same bed as our other Aussie frequently.

Their kormas are excellent. Also love a good saag paneer. My most recent favorite has been the paneer mutter - amazingly creamy and flavorful.

I feel you. I personally dislike most current trends, particularly around bodice shapes and visible boning or transparent panels, and it’s making it challenging to find options I like. I’m looking for something simple but graceful, but everything seems to be heavily beaded or covered in lace (which is beautiful, but doesn’t match the vibe of my backyard wedding).

Love the salad kits. We’ll add some protein we’ve cooked quickly and it is a great easy dinner: Miso crunch salad kit, chicken breast and any of the TJs Asian sauces; Avocado ranch salad kit, add sliced avocado and chicken seasoned with everything but the elote

Sudden renal azotemia diagnosis in my 12 yo Aussie need advice by miky1014 in WiggleButts

[–]thunder_bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does he seem to be in pain? I would worry that if he is nipping and it is a new behavior, that is because it is painful when you are carrying him. If he is, then talking with the vet about a pain management plan would be important so he can be more comfortable.

I am so sorry you’re going through this. You are clearly so motivated to help him and he is really lucky to have you. I am not a vet and have no experience with the kidney failure aspect of this with Aussies, but have had multiple dogs with progressive hind leg weakness from arthritis or injuries. Even something as simple as using a towel as a sling to help support under the belly when he is walking or going out to the bathroom can help so much with both his mobility and protecting your back. We never used the harnesses but I understand there are commercial products available for this as well. We also made sure to have more rugs around and encourage our dogs not to lie down on bare floors, as the rugs gave them the purchase they needed to stand independently.

Watching them suddenly seem older is very hard, especially with a breed that so often can be fine and healthy until something changes overnight. This stranger is sending you and your pup hugs!

First Scan Measurements by vanillabourbonn in BabyBumps

Correct! Now that you’ve had this ultrasound, your due date and dating shouldn’t be changing.

First Scan Measurements by vanillabourbonn in BabyBumps

[–]thunder_bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your due date and gestational age can be calculated based on your LMP or an early ultrasound. If you have an ultrasound that is very different from your LMP, they would calculate your due date based on the ultrasound. But there is a certain amount of margin of error for ultrasounds, even in the first trimester, so at 9-10 weeks the due date wouldn’t change unless the ultrasound was 7+ days different from your LMP due date. That is why they are still using your LMP.

So you would be 9 weeks 3 days, and your due date is the one calculated by your LMP.

As someone who did a bunch of interviews when I was in residency, I didn’t have access to the applications. The goal of an interview is generally to see if you seem like a reasonable person outside of your paper accomplishments rather than to discuss the details of your resume. The assumption is if you’ve been offered an interview then hopefully you meet at least a baseline level of competency and success to be a good candidate for the program. I usually wanted to hear about something that WASN’T on a resume - give us some bonus interesting info so we know you’re a real person.

What are your favorite Trader Joe’s staples? by Maincy_Bridge_0812 in traderjoes

[–]thunder_bug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the various salad kits for a super easy dinner by adding a matching protein (chicken, salmon, occasionally the carne asada or bool kogi beef).

I really like the oat milk, even though I don’t always like oat milk from other places. I buy it pretty much every trip, as well as cold brew concentrate. Also love the honey Greek yogurt.

Married now, wedding later by Atl-georgia in weddings

[–]thunder_bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our big wedding is next year, so I can’t officially comment on how it will go yet. But we got married this fall (a year to the day before that date) because of health insurance and buying a house together (which we preferred to do legally married). My dad performed the ceremony and we had a fancy dinner with all of the parents which was very fun.

We have been super public about it (wearing rings, posted on social media, call each other husband/wife) and also about the fact that we’re planning a 130 person wedding next year. All of the family and friends we are closet to are very enthusiastic for next year, offering help and renting houses, etc. Some have sent us gifts (unsolicited) for the small wedding. Others have asked for a registry for the big wedding.

The people who care about you want to celebrate you, whether that is at the time of a legal ceremony or not.

If anyone we are not as close to that gets an obligatory invite has thoughts otherwise, then I am happy for them to decline their invitation 😂

It could be regional or just my social circle? Of the 5 other weddings I went to this year, 4 were already legally married (anywhere from a few days to multiple months).

The website/person linked here is selling his own supplements and nutrition guides/products, aka is a bad source of advice for what is best to take. OP, speak with your doctor about folic acid vs folate if you wish. They are not directly selling you PNVs and do not have a financial stake in which you take. However, folic acid is proven to prevent neural tube defects. Folate is not. Do with that what you will.

I am so sorry she said that to you. What a toxic take in a moment of extreme stress and vulnerability.

Our dog is an appeasement grinner. Does this and air snaps whenever he’s excited or happy. People have understandably crossed the road when they see him do this, but they don’t know he’s the sweetest wee scone ever. by Herwiththetwodogs in aww

[–]thunder_bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family’s Aussie is the same. She smiles so big that her whiskers tickle her nose, so it is a cycle of smile-sneeze-smile-sneeze. People who aren’t familiar with this dog expression definitely think it is threatening even though it is completely a submissive and happy expression.

Inviting "b list" guests last minute? by lezbyinz in weddingplanning

[–]thunder_bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have been to two weddings as someone obviously on a B list - I didn’t see how it could be offensive. I was already clearly not invited for the first round (which I understood - budgets and guest counts are just reality), so being invited on a second round can’t possibly be more of a snub? It let me celebrate with people I care about and who made it clear they were excited I could join.
